My husband and I stayed at La Estancia for five days in the middle of February. We were in a 1 bedroom unit that includes a bathroom with toilet and shower off the living area and a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, separate shower, commode room and two sinks off the bedroom. There is a nice size kitchen with full size fridge, oven, microwave, etc., as well as some nice extras like a blender. There is also a washer/dryer. The living area is also a nice size and the patio, or terrace, is also quite spacious. It is worth noting again that the 1 bedroom unit shares a balcony with the single room next door. The furnishings were decent. There are great granite counters in the kitchen and baths. We thought the bed was fine, not too hard for us. The furniture was okay. Our room's view was not terrific. We were in about the middle of the wing on the second floor. We could see the sea, but not a breathtaking, wave-crashing experience.

Food-Honestly, I cannot say too much, as we ate one meal on-property: breakfast at La Casonas. It left much to be desired... $24 for a mediocre selection of less-than-mediocre food. However, there is a poolside cafe there and several other restaurants at the adjacent properties. There are just so many good places in town that we didn't try again at the resort.

Location-For us, this was great. We were out on the Corridor last trip, so being able to walk to Medano Beach and water taxi around to the marina (and back) was terrific. Regular taxis into town were $7 one way. I believe walking into town would be easily possible, but my husband refused, as he was "on vacation!!!" :)
Also noted before, there is a horrible waste stench at the resort during the nighttime hours. There is an attempt to cover it with a deodorizer in the lobby that is WAY TOO STRONG. We didn't notice the smell in the day, only at night.

Staff-We didn't get to know too many people there... only the bell/valet/taxi-call staff. Most of them were awesome. Big smiles, warm greetings, a friendly welcome anytime we came or went. They literally ran to take care of things. This does a lot for a resort, in our opinion. Those guys just seem like happy fellows.

All in all, our experience was fine. It is Cabo, after all. Fabulous, no matter where you stay!

Villa La Estancia was beautiful! Pictures don't do it justice. Everything is privately owned and rented through the hotel rental company or through the private owners. We booked through owners at another website. Great rates. Well worth what we paid. Booked a two bedroom, 3 bath, sleeps 8 if you want it with the pull out couch. Full large kitchen, and a huge patio, I mean huge. We faced Land's End rocks directly. Huge cruise ships coming into view along with the ocean views. We all sat out on the patio for hours each day and night. Room 2502. The hotel staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and professional, including the management staff. GM is a top notch professional. The hotel, pools, and the grounds are kept immaculate. Cleaner than anywhere we have stayed. Outdoor hottub and jacuzzis are awesome. A quiet and relaxing place. Not for spring breakers at all. Close enough to town to walk or a $7 taxi ride for 4. Great beach with all activities right there. Go through the hotel to book for best activity prices. Went onto town every night for dinner at some great restaurants. We are in our mid to late 30's. My retired parents came with us and loved every minute of it. They almost bought a place next door. We rarely stay at the same place twice when vacationing. We will stay here again and again without a second thought.

another note: Sam's Club and a Wal-Mart are across the highway, visible from the resort. Costco up the road a little bit.

Villa La Estancia is one of the most beautiful Resorts I have ever been too and Cabo San Lucas is by far the best place to visit in Mexico. My husband and three children (21, 19, and 16) shared a two bedroom-three bathroom unit at Villa La Estancia. The resort is right on the beach and offers everything you would find at a hotel, but with the luxuries of having your own privately-owned villa. We booked our Vacation through Luxury Vacation Rentals LLC www.luxuryvacationrentalsllc.com. The rental agents were very helpful and we got everything we expected. Luxury Vacation Rentals offers 1, 2, and 3 bedroom Villa choices and price their units at a much more reasonable price than competitors with units in Villa La Estancia. I would not only suggest staying at Villa La Estancia, but I would also suggest booking your trip through LVR. They can set up transportation to and from the airport, suggest great restaurants and activites in Cabo San Lucas, and offer extra amenities(such as a grill) in many of their units.

The biggest rip off in Cabo

This place was the biggest rip off I've ever seen. They charged us $31 for a bottle of sunscreen, $9.50 for 2 small bottles of water, $7 for a box of wheat thin crackers, and the list goes on. The big deal for us was 5 overcharges on our bill. The largest was a $140 dinner that we didn't eat. When we questioned it, they dug up a dinner bill from our file that was for another guest in another room. To top that off, there was no apology - just an explanation of how it may have happened.

The facility was well kept and in a good location, but our room service was crap. Sometimes they cleaned, sometimes they didn't. And they had a habit of throwing our good food away.

My recommendation if you're planning to visit Cabo:
- Consider Hawaii or another part of Mexico
- Stay at Pueblo Bonita, ME, or Casa instead - they are much closer to the activities and restaurants on the beach
- Bring whatever food, sunblock, etc. that you need with you so you don't have to buy it at 4X the price. Or, plan to visit Costco or Sam's Club on your first day in town

I've been to Cabo 5 times in the past 8 years. Took a break after hurrican Martin a few years ago and just went back to a place that I hardly recognized as the affordable, relaxed vacation spot of just a few years ago. It's a shame, but the place is driven by money. The high end restaurants at the Marina were nearly all vacant as they are so overprices and cater to a crowd that just wasn't there in February. Cheaper bars and restaurants were packed so it wasn't as though people weren't in town.

We went to Hawaii last summer in peak season and the prices were significantly lower than Cabo. I'd certainly recommend considering all travel options before plunking money down on a location just because it's close and easy to get to.

My wife and I stayed for eight nights and found this hotel to be immacutely clean, professionally run and beautiful. Ignacio Savin (front desk manager} is one of the most outstanding hotel employees we have ever encountered in our travels. He is professional, knowledgable, friendly and obviously does his job because of his love for the concept that guests of the hotel should get their moneys worth without hassles.

We have stayed at this hotel two consecutive years and our experience with the hotel has been consistent. The villas are spectacular, great values and the entire staff is wonderful.
