Spring Break 2013, booked all inclusive deal through Expedia Travel for my family of 4, (2 kids 14 and 13 and wife and I) March 20-27th. Hotel is really nice and the pools, I think they have 6, and most are infinity pools, a lot of hot tubs, I think another 6 kept clean and warm. Setting of the hotel is really nice, great ocean view from any room (Fiesta Americana's strategy and it works for me).
The Good - Food was better than average in a restaurant setting. If you don't get the all inclusive option, the prices are expensive, very expensive. You have to sign for all of your checks and that is kind of frustrating, because after a while, you start to wonder, why? Answer, I think they keep track of the food to evaluate the all inclusive value. The bad, you have to sign for your meal before you leave, a little wait some times. A Note. Expedia had on our deal, kids free with 2 paying adults, kids defined as 12 years and younger. Resort said as long as our kids ate off the kids menu, we would not be charged. My kids love burgers, and the stuff on the kids menu, so we had no problems. Result, no additional charges on my bill.
Service, good most of the time, sometimes restaurants are a little slow in service, but I would save average to what you normally experience in Mexico.
Rooms, clean, comfortable beds, really nice updated rooms and bathrooms. Views - Ocean view for every Fiesta Americana I have stayed at, so LOVE FIESTA AMERICANA for the layout. A bit of a walk up hill to your rooms, but what do you expect, you have an ocean view and all inclusive means you need to burn off the calories. Optional golf cart transportation for those who request it.
Location. Much closer to Cabo San Lucas than Cabo San Jose. Strong recommendation is to rent a car. I got a full size car Wed. to Wed for $115.00 all week. Transportation to resort for 4 people is like 80 bucks 1 way, so did a little research and found that if you rent a car, you can save a lot of money. Advice, do your research, decline the insurance, because if you rent with your American Express card, they offer $50K coverage for comprehensive insurance, with no deductible. Car rental insurance will double the cost of your rent, and have a deductible. Car rental companies will tell you that you will have to settle any damages before you leave. They put a $30K (probably peso's) hold on my American express card at time of rental to cover any damage. If you add their insurance on top of your credit card, deductible has to be paid by you before you leave if their is damage. Understand your rights and benefits and you make the call.
Time share in Cabo, it's all over the place, and everyone sells it and everyone is so helpful to help you decide. Burned by a time share in Cozumel at the Regency club, so I will not be buying times shares in Mexico ever again. (screwed out of 5 weeks trial time share because new owners do not honor the contract). Politely decline and say, no, I think they are a rip off and they will leave you alone.
Rent a car if you have more than 2 people, decline optional insurance, use a credit card that has in...
