First of all, dining on a cliff cut out of rock with waves crashing beneath you.....seriously?! Wow, what an experience! I hosted a client dinner for 10 people at El Farallon and all of my guests were blown away. We dined here on the last night, which was defintely the perfect way to end a trip with a bang. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. There just happened to be a full moon the night we dined at El Farallon, which was unbelievable. The food was all served family style, and everything was very fresh and prepared in a very healthy manner. We were a bit tired of eating Mexican food at this point in our trip, so the superbly prepared grilled vegetables, seafood and steak really hit the spot. The crab soup was to die for, they brought you a bowl with just lump seafood in it and then poured the soup over the top, so you could be sure you were getting a good amount of crab - the presentation was great. I think the menu changes every night here, since they prepare what was fresh, but we had head-on shrimp, sea bass, clams, some other kind of fish, steak, grilled zuchinni, asparagus,tomatoes and cilantro rice. The desserts were also superb, although what the called "creme brulee" seemed more like a flan, but it was delicious. A very memorable experience all around, and in my opinion, the steep price to dine at this restaurant is well worth it!

My husband and I just got back from 10 days in Cabo. We stayed at another resort ( not Capella) but we made our reservation at El Farallon a month in advance to get a reservation time of 5:30 so we could be there for sunset.

Last year, we were in Cabo and went on a sunset cruise, and noticed this beautiful restaurant jutting out from the cliffs. We inquired about it, found out it was El Farallon, and vowed to eat there next time we went to Cabo. The location alone was enough to make us want to go there! It is literally situated in the rocky cliffs above the ocean, with the waves crashing below you! When we knew we were going to Cabo this year, I made a reso and found out about the "menu".

When we arrived at the Capella resort, we were blown away! What a place! We were escorted to El Farallon, and it was everything we had seen from afar, and more! There is no set menu, as you choose from a blackboard, all the fresh catches of the day. I chose the Mahi Mahi, one scallop, and one shrimp. Everything is priced by weight, in my case, the Mahi Mahi was $37 for a 6 ounce, and $10 for each scallop and shrimp. With the price you pay for your "meat", you get a soup to start, a trio of appetizers, and 2 sides of your choice to go with your meat. A pretty good deal I thought for mine, but my Husband's, not so much. He is not a seafood eater, so he went with the Ribeye, which is the only item that you can't pick the weight, so he ended up with a 12 ounce Ribeye!! Way too much, and the price was a little excessive, $60! They really should give you the weight option on the Ribeye as well. Our dinner was fantastic overall, but my husband's steak was average, and for that price, should've been superb! We are from Alberta, where we are used to fantastic steaks, so he was a little disappointed, but this place is not known for steak! ( he really needs to start eating seafood! ( : One more thing I will add, is their wine by the glass is quite pricey ($16-20) so it adds up if you have 2 or more glasses! Our final bill with tip was $240, ( we both had a few drinks) so be prepared to have a pricey evening!

Overall, the service was fantastic and you can't beat the atmosphere! So romantic and definitely a dining experience you won't have on a regular basis! I recommend making your reservation between 5:30-6:00 so you can enjoy the sunset, as it is very dark there once the sun goes down and you can't enjoy the beautiful view. If you are celebrating something or just want one fancy dinner while in Cabo, I highly recommend El Farralon!

This incredible restaurant is an open air place built into the side of a mountain. You pick from fresh fish or seafood and then a couple of sides. It is all simply and incredibly prepared and tastes like nothing else. WOW. Such an unforgettable experience.

This restaurant has spectacular views and the setting is unsurpassed. On that point alone we would likely return and give it another try. This, however, was our second time at El Farallon and unfortunately we found the food and service were less impressive than our first visit. Also, be forewarned, gratuity is automatically included. We did not figure this out until after we got back back to our hotel and called to discuss the bill as it seemed higher than it should have been. Since we paid the bill in cash (pesos) we essentially laid out the equivalent of $80 USD tip for a party of two (and since we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversay we had even brought our own special bottle of wine). It's our fault for not reviewing the details of the bill more closely,
but it is not standard practice to automatically include gratuity on parties of two and it was too bad that management didn't offer to correct the error.
