Perfect for our 10 year Anniversary. The resort is kept in 100% top condition. Very clean, great landscaping, etc. Great view of the Pacific Ocean from all pools. Highly recommend for couples looking to relax and get away. Easy walk to the marina for dinner, drinks, etc.

I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Cabo. How can you match the incredible views and the majestic sound of the surf crashing on shore? I was able to hike over to the secluded Lovers Beach, and enjoyed 'beach picnics' with our little one every night! Our trip was highlighted by some very special service at Grand Solmar. Yazmin at La Roca greeted us every morning with a sweet smile and took a special interest in our 3yr old, even bringing her a special dessert at lunch one day! Mani (Emmanuel), at valet was flawless; professional yet treats you like family. Coming from a resort town in Colorado, we treasure when locals can make you feel special and like a local. Finally we loved spending our days at the pool enjoying the great service by Julio (Cesar), Lionel and Ada (who looks like a Disney princess!). Enjoy this beautiful gem of a resort! We visited during hot Summer months and during construction; neither of which were EVER a distraction from relaxation!

Room Tip: The only criticism I have is that chairs don't have "slide-buffers" so you hear every...

Dear Sherri

We would like to thank you for your great comments about our staff. it is always great to know that many of our staff members excedes your expectations, like our hostess Jazmín, our bellboy captain Emmanuel, Julio Cesar, Lionel and Ada our pool Butler, all experts in terms of service.

Thank you for your recommendations and for mentioning that the construction at the entrance of the resort do not spoil your vacation.

We are here for you.

Two years ago, as part of a "special discount package" from a taxi at the San Jose airport, we ended up in one of those gruesome timeshare presentations... lots of small talk, a bit of pressure... but in the end, the timeshare property sold itself to us!

Last year we banked our week, and this year we had two one-bedroom rooms. We brought our adult kids and their spouses to Gran Solmar and we loved it!!!!

Here is my recap, on a scale of 1-10:

property management: 10.... this place is meticulously kept. The interplay between the natural rocks with their wind-carved shapes and the tasteful architecture cannot be beat.

Amenities: 10..... luxurious and elegant design.... We felt like millionaires!

Service: 10...... Mexico at its best! I saw 'gringos" who spoke no Spanish get everything they wanted ... staff is 95% English speaking. Mostly Yanks, Mexican-Americans and Canadians here. I did see one family from Japan... it would be nice if there was a more worldly combination of people...... But if you want that...go to Riu Palace.....

Restaurants and bar ambiance: 10..... fantastic views of the beach, the ocean and the boats that cruise by on fishing expeditions (keep your eye out for the "pirate" ship!!!)

Food: 1..... the food is terrible!!!! do yourself a BIG favor and go to Costco,,,Wal-Mart... Mega...OXXO,,, anywhere and stock up on breakfast and lunch ingredients... For dinner,,, go into town and look for places where REAL Mexicans are eating..... the food will be much much better, and much less expensive..... Stay away from as many restaurants and bars that you see in the tourist newspapers, maps, etc.

The food is beautifully prepared and presented...BUT it is tasteless...... made for people who think cayenne pepper equals Habanero Sauce!!!!! The wine list is great, but a bit pricey....

The deserts were the one fantastic exception to the bland food....... they were great!!!!

Strangely enough..... A good place for dinner...... and you will know what to expect could be Hard Rock Cafe......

Anyway, whether you buy a timeshare, rent a room, or use a friend's timeshare.... you will not be sorry!!!!!!

Dear Mario

We would like to thank you for your great comments about the hotel.
You can make sure all our staff will be able to see your comment. For our Chef is very special to receive this feedback, as they work really hard in the presentation of the food (we are glad you like it), but also in the flavors that they are using. We will do our best to surpass your expectations enxt time.

We will be honor to welcome you back anytime soon.

So happy we purchased a timeshare here last year. This is the most picturesque spot in all of Cabo, with massive crashing waves, pristine beaches, and glorious sunsets. The thing that makes this place extra special is the staff. They are all so friendly and helpful, and the housekeeping staff kept our rooms sparkling clean. Even my six year old said , "mommy, everyone that works here is happy!" That's a two thumbs up for sure! Just remember to bring a credit cars with some purchase power. This is a cash free hotel and everything is charged to your room...and be prepared to spend! Nothing here is cheap but it's worth it!

Dear Dluce

We are at this moment showing your message to all our staff. They are really satisfied, and with a big smile after your son comment. We are sure that we will keep surpassing your family expectations in the years to come.

As you mention, we are a cash free resort, we only accept credit cards so you can charge to your suite while being here. Also, you will always need to stop at the front desk for your check out. I am sure our guest will find some interesting options in the menú that they will find not that expensive, but, we have already a meal plan package, that many people get it at the momento they arrive. It is very worth it. Mínimum 3 days.

Thank you again for you comments. We will be waiting for you for your next holiday.

Sincerely,

We stayed at the Grand Solmar for a week at the end of May for my best friend's wedding at the resort. It was by far the best resort experience I've ever had! The Grand Solmar is about a 30-40 minute drive from the airport- so make sure to have that arranged ahead of time. The resort grounds and pools were beautiful and they had the friendliest staff! I've never felt so welcomed and accomodated at a resort. The views from anywhere on this resort are just beautiful, and it's never overcrowded.
We stayed in a studio room. It was perfect for the two of us and would have had plenty of room for more people. There is a large dining table, and a deck with lounge chairs (which was my favorite place to enjoy my morning coffee). The bathroom was pretty and the kitchen had everything we needed- full size fridge, cook-top, microwave, sink, and coffee maker.
We ate lunch at the pool bar a few times and definately made it down there for happy hour (2 for 1 of the drink of the day- always delicious!) On our first day we took a cab to Wal Mart (I think it was about 10 bucks a way) and bought food for breakfasts and a few dinners/late night snacks to make in our room since we had a full kitchen. The resort offers an all-inclusive meal plan, nut it just wouldn't have been sensible for us because we had so many other meals out of the resort already planned. The resort is pretty close to the marina, we walked down there a few times for dinner and booked a kayak/snorkeling trip at the marina.
I would only stay at this resort if we ever return to Cabo!

Our room was well appointed and comfortable with a great ocean view. I would say here again if given the opportunity. Food at resort retaurant, La Roca, was excellent and convenient. Unfortunately, I waited until my last day there to try breakfast and it was wonderful! Complete with omlette bar, waffles, french toast and the breakfast buffet works!.
The spa is top notch; I got a 85 minute seaside massage from Erik which was hevanly :)
The only disappointment is that you cannot swim in the ocean near the hotel because it is where the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean meet and it creates dangeous currents and rip tides.
I highly reommend this resort.

Room Tip: But because of dangerous currents and rip tides you cannot swim in the ocean here. Request Higher f...

Dear Char C

What a beautiful comment! I love when our guest have the opportunity to use our services, like the Spa (Erik is indeed amazing with his hands!) and our bar and restaurants (our staff is delighted that you like your experience with them); Our breakfast buffet is getting raves by many of our visitors. And all is about the experience. We just got a new toaster and a new decoration. And the food, well, our Chef Carlos is always improving our dishes.

As you mention it is indeed dangerous to swim at the beach. We do not recommend it. But you can make sure that we will pamper you in any of our 6 pools. We are here for you.

Thank you again for your grear review!

On behalf of all our staff, specially our bartender at our lobby bar Yuniva, we would like to thank you for your great comments about her service. We are delighted that you enjoyed the mojitos. I specially recommend our guest to have the opportunity to have your dining at our waterfall área, overlooking the pacific, getting attended by Yuniva.
