“Very Relaxing Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

I love this place, the views are beautiful, the staff great, helpful, the drinks, the food!!!
We had a very good time in our beautiful 1 bedroom condo, welcome margarita waiting for us as we checked in. The views of the beach is so beautiful, saw dolphins, seals, & whales.
I love the people in Cabo, they work so hard & aim to please the tourist.

Once again we had an incredible experience at Grand Solmar. There were six of us (all women) and the service and staff continued to treat us like "princesses". They even created a special "Princess" drink for us. The weather was beautiful, the pools warm and sparkling and the whales were breaching every day. The food was exceptional and the special attention we received was personal and so enjoyable. To have the pool bar staff remember your favorite drink from day-to-day was remarkable. We had a lobster dinner one evening at Laroca and the lobsters were huge and grilled perfectly. Thank you again to Roberto, Arturo, Braulio, Jesus, Lupe, Ana and Erika, plus many others. We're headed back in December for another wonderful week.

Room Tip: All of the rooms face the Pacific Ocean, so they all have a view of the water.

We were initally disappointed Don Luis restaurant is not open any more for dinner but they moved the menu to La Roca.

We were pampered all week by Roberto, Sergio, Francisco, Isiro, Enrique and Eduardo.

Delicious food with fresh ingredients poured out of the kitchen.

Tasting menu on Friday with different menu for men and women was delicious with the wine pairing.

If you like good food, I think the meal plan is more convenient than going to upscale restaurants in the tourist area and you can hang out by the pool all day.

Only problem is losing the weight when you go home :(

Room Tip: Ocean front is better to hear the waves crashing all night.

Just got back from another great week at Grand Solmar. Upon arrival you are greeted with "Welcome Home" which sets the tone for the entire time. There are several new staff members who are learning how to be as attentive as the longer term employees who are top notch. To be fair to travelers who are going soon, they are doing construction which you tend to notice for a little bit and then it somehow disappears and isn't a bother. We did the "all inclusive" this trip, would do it again. One suggestion to all guests, when moving the chairs across the decks - pick up and place down ~ don't drag (this includes the sales office...) ~ less noise this way. Can't wait for our next stay. Cabana massages are a MUST. I'm not sure why the "captains" or "bosses" were hovering this year. It didn't seem to impact the staff but I don't want to go on vacation to observe someone watching/correcting the staff ~ especially when they are SO GOOD and ATTENTIVE. (if they aren't doing what you expect, don't deal with it in front of guests, not all visitors would pick it up but it was pretty obvious to me)

Bottom line, the property is one of the best all the way around, especially for adults. (not much for children to do ~ Playa Grande is better equipped to accommodate)

Sorry about the delay in submitting our review but I own a small restaurant and unfortunately that takes all my time!

My husband and I visited Cabo in November 2011. We promised ourselves we would NOT do any timeshare tours but ... we folded! We had a paid stay at the GS sister property next door, Playa Grande. We really did enjoy PG but were looking for a place that was in the same area (no vendors!), a bit more intimate and a bit more upscale and GS fit the bill! We ended up purchasing a 1 bedroom at GS and were exited to return.

Our first stay at GS was in November 2012. The hotel interior (rooms, restaurants, etc.) and grounds are BEAUTIFUL!!! We spent a week surrounded by the most amazing views - that we cannot deny! There are so many review that describe the beautiful property in detail, so I won't do that, but will share with you our experience at GS.

Upon check-in we were led over to the "hostess" table where we were invited to join the owners breakfast. We were on vacation and decided to skip the meeting. We were then asked by the hostess if we were taking timeshare tours with any other properties and we replied no. She asked us the same question a few minutes later - same answer, no - and within another few more minutes, asked us if we were lying to her. REALLY did NOT appreciate that question and let her know that. For the rest of the trip, every time we saw her, she looked the other way - not very good customer service!

We spent a lot of time relaxing next to the adult pool and main pool. Unfortunately, if you went to the adult pool later in the day, it was tough to get a chair as it was understandingly very popular (those views!).

I guess my husband and I never felt a real warmth from some of the staff - specifically the hostess and check-in/out desks - and for us, that's very important while on vacation. However, the pool and restaurant staff were nice and always ready to pour you another!

I receive T&L and Conde Nast Travel Magazines and was so excited to read GS won travel awards. So, maybe some of this is an "over the top experience" expectation on our end.

We won't let a few unpleasantries discourage us and are looking forward to our return to the beauty of GS!

Grand Solmar Resort is a beautiful resort. I absolutely loved the 5 infinitely pools! Our rooms were clean and modern, and our balcony was huge! The staff were amazing, always there to help your in any way possible from getting us more drinks or towels to opening the door for us! This resort is really amazing. The tempura rolls are delicious! We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast everyday. The couples massage outside under the cabanas over looking the beach was so relaxing and is a definite must. The only reason I cannot give it an excellent review is because of the timeshare employees. We are not timeshare owners but found this resort on tripadvisor and then booked it. When we arrived they gave us incentives (one free breakfast and discounts on activities) to listen to a tour of the timeshare that would take 90 minutes. Well their so called 90 minutes turned out to be actually 3 hours!!! After patiently listening to the first gentleman, we told him we weren't interested but then they made us wait and listen to another person give another plea before we could get this so called discounted activities. After the second person they then brought us to yet another guy who gave another plea for our business. We were very annoyed to have wasted half our first day listening to these people and them not listening to us tell them weren't interested. Anyway they finally take us to another building to sign up for the discounted activities were this other lady tried to convince us to go to her hotel and see her time-share hotel rates. At this point we had enough and decided that these discounted activities were not worth the headache. After that we only booked activities through the concierge at the actual resort, and not the time-share people. Other than the first half day, everything else about this resort is excellent. Now of course if your going to the resort because your interested in purchasing a timeshare then take the tour but if your going to the resort to have a fantastic relaxing vacation then avoid the tour!!
