“Excellent facilities and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We recently stayed at the Grand Solmar Land's End for our honeymoon. We stayed in a one bedroom overlooking the ocean. The hotel is beautiful. There are four different infinity pools and even an adult pool (in case you're looking for some quiet). Also, the staff is amazing. We were waited on hand and foot and they pay great attention to detail. Our favorite waiter was Roberto. He did such a great job making us so comfortable and was so nice and fun. We definitely recommend staying at this hotel. It was the nicest in Cabo by far and it is right on the beach.

The pros:
The accomodations were outstanding. We rented a 3 bedroom unit and it was more beautiful than the photos depict. The maid service ("Elsa") was wonderful. The entire resort is upscale and immaculate. The pools are gorgeous. The entire staff was great. We ate breakfasts in our unit and had drinks and snacks poolside and ate all dinners but one offsite.
The cons:
The one dinner we ate(just wanted something simple) was at the pool bar restaurant. There are limited onsite dining options. We and another couple were the only ones there. It took a very long time to be served and then they forgot my husbands appetizer. They forgot the mayo on my BLT. Afterwards I ordered a club sandwich to take back to the room for my daughter and they forgot the bacon. At the time there were several cooks at Roca, the primary resort resaurant, and no diners in the restaurant. Disappointing. Best bet is to go into Cabo or Medano Beach area for dinner
Also disappointing was the wireless internet. It only worked maybe 40% of the time we were there.
Taxi fares varied. If we walked down the hill to the edge of the property near Playa Graande, the fare was $8 to Medano beach. When they called me taxi from the hotel, the same trip cost me $18.

Room Tip: Choose a building not overlooking construction.

The hotel is nicely located. Walking distance to the Marina. The rooms are very nicely done. The view is fabulous . It has a private beach which is nice and secluded. The only hitch is the service is good but slow. I had to ask twice for certain things. It must be the communication. It's a new building and big, so they have to work on efficiency. Other than that, it was a good deal. Don't bother with the inclusive deals. Just get the room and explore.

This was a gift. The company that my wife is part of owns it, and as a thank you, they gave us two weeks of pure bliss. Cathy and I honestly had never really though of our selves as "resort" people. My ideal vacation, is Paris, cities, art galleries, busy all the time. GO GO GO, So the idea of two weeks of relaxing in the sun... well it was just not something I would evry have though I would enjoy.
I was very wrong.
The Grand Solmar sits on the very tip of 'Lands End' in CABO. its a 20 min walk into town, so far enough that it truly away from the hustle...( and CABO has the Hustle).
It is a Hotel slash time share, so yes you will be 'invited' to a free presentation, with gifts.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND!!! lol. They are not pushy, and when we explained, that we really were not interested in the 'free breakfast', they were very good with it, and we never heard a peep about it, for the rest of the trip.

Now on to the great stuff... The resort itself is amazing, it is truly beautiful. detail is very where, and it is in all definition a luxury resort!
Our room was about 15 - 1600 sq feet, full kitchen, dining room, living room, with a private, bed room dressing room, and massive bath room. There was a 'murphy bed' between the living room and dining room, and a second full bath, for guests. the outside deck faced the Pacific, Daily sunsets, that would make you cry, and a every morning show of Gray Whales to eat breakfast with. The deck, was another 500(ish) square feet, and it looked down onto the two larger pools resturants, and resort core.
The pools (4 of them) are all 'infinity' style, two have swim up bars, and one is 'adults only'. They are surrounded, by lounge chairs...hundreds of them, so finding a nice place to 'plant it" is not hard. All of them have service, so food and drink is there when you want it, but you are more than welcome to go up and get it your self, or even bring down a 'six-pack' and not move. In fact if they see you with a pack of beer, they will grab you a bucket of ice ASAP.
The Staff just want you to enjoy, have fun, relax.
There is 'no money' here, meaning that everything is simply, put on your tab. you don't walk about with a wad of cash, or your cards, you just give them your room number, sign, and dine. This makes it really easy, and relaxed. Your not freaking out about loosing your money/cards. and honestly we spent way less this way. They try to avoid any sort of cash tipping, and in fact, when ever I offered, i was politely told no thank you.
The grounds are groomed, amazingly. Even the beach front is raked, and cleaned every day.
On morning walks to the point, I never once saw garbage, of any sort. it was always perfect.
In fact the whole resort kept that theme going, for our whole two weeks.
On the 'negative side'... MOTHS, millions of them, all over the city. crazy amounts of them, nothing the Resort could do about it, but wow! never seen anything like it. (it is some seasonal thing I was told by locals, that for what ever reason, has really become worse over the last couple years, its a short duration issue, but...i dont like moths)
and..
The resort is still under construction, and when we first arrived I was a bit worried. I really didn't want to sit about, listening to machinery, Yet very surprising to me, was I never heard anything? Stuff was getting done, but oddly very quietly... I wish they could come to Vancouver, and 'coach" the high rise builders here.
Due to the construction , there wee a couple days when the hot water was late..lol. but they did give us lot of notice, and again the disruptions were not anything noticeable.

Still that was the worst of it, a few million moths, and a super quiet construction team.. not a real problem.

Highlights!! It's beautiful! just a never ending treat for the eyes, every where you look. Sitting in the pool, with a Margarita in your hand, watching Rays, and swordfish jump, in the Pacific, is NOT a bad way to live.
Being treated by the staff like your a member of the royal family, again, not hard to take.
The food was always stellar, (in truth I had one of the very best New York steaks of my life there), and the December weather in CABO, sure beats the weather in Vancouver.
So for our first trip to Mexico, we were spoiled rotten. The resort is as perfect as I have ever had. The two weeks of pure relaxation, was very addictive.
would I say its worth every penny... yup, and more. Cant wait to go back.
Rob

Found this on Tripadvisor and stayed there the first week in January. This is really a time share
property, and they will ask you to attend a 90 minute presentation. I did not, and there was
no mention of it thereafter. The room was large, new, exceedingly clean with a king sized bed,
a small kitchenette, luxurious bath, dining table and Murphy bed. Also a patio with 2 chaise loungers that overlooked the ocean and pool. The pool area was wonderful-actually 5 pools, multiple hot tubs, and a ocean with a sandy beach. There was no problem getting lounge chairs
at the pool even if you went down in the late morning. The location is a short walk to the marina where you will find restaurants galore and shopping as well. If you are looking for nightlife here, there is none. By 10 pm it is quiet. There are no water activities on the beach, but you can go
to other beaches if you want it. The food at the pool is good and reasonably priced.
All in all, a wonderful place to spend a week. You can't go wrong here.

We had a great time at the resort! The one bedroom is just what my family needs with two kids. We didn't purchase the meal plan as we want the freedom to eat what we want at any place (marina, shopping, etc.) while watching our weights (lol).

Don't worry about the timeshare. Just dismiss them as they would to you if you opt out. Don't ever get emotional to buy the timeshare as many owners I talked to feel regret buying it afterwards. The membership service is very bad (rude) and maintenance fee is very high. As a matter of fact, I rented a master suite from an owner (vrbo.com) at lower price than the commercial websites at the owner's cost (they just rent the rooms out to cover the maintenance fees). So don't be a victim like them.

Our kids said it was the best vacation ever ... we did a lot of activities (jet skiing, parasailing, boating, etc) as the rates were reasonable (we booked directly from the vendors outside hotel so no middleman fees.)

Our overall experience at the Grand Solmar was great! We arrived and were upgraded to a larger room which was more than we could have ever hoped for. Upon check in they give you the option to listen to the time share sales pitch and they invite you to a tour and breakfast. It is optional and you easily can say no! Unlike other places in Cabo Grand Solmar does not push the time share option. The place was clean, quiet and beautiful. From the balcony we could see the ocean and sit and listen to the waves in the evenings. This quiet is what made our stay so amazing. Even when the pool was busy with lots of people it was never loud or obnoxious like most resorts. We purchased the meal plan so we wouldn't have to worry about how much our food bill would be at the end of the stay. It was a great choice! For $90 a day per person we were able to eat and drink without worry of breaking our budget. The food and service were wonderful! The restaurants and snack bars have great menus and lots of variety. The wait staff were always prompt, cheerful, friendly, and helpful. We have to admit our favorite was dinner at LaRoca with Isisdro. He was very helpful and attentive. Our wine glasses were never empty! The food was always great! Our only drawback was having to leave. We had signed up for a shuttle to take us to the airport and it was a Taxi that we rode around Los Cabos in for about 30 minutes picking up other passengers before heading to the airport. It was strange and didn't fit into the wonderful picture of Grand Solmar that we had for the week we were there.

Room Tip: We were in a Grand Master Suite and it was amazing. I would recommend a room on the 3rd floor and hi...
