We just got back from a week in Cabo at Club Cascadas (Sept 1-8). We enjoyed our stay very much. Traded through II. We were a bit apprehensive after reading about some reviews, but must say we did not have any problems at all. Our room was ready on our arrival - a ground floor 1 BR/1 BA "Perlita" suite. It was very clean (no bugs) with a hammock on the patio. The grounds at Cascadas are well shaded to keep the Sept. heat down. You are just steps from the beach or pools. The private beach has palapas (thatched umbrellas) and is cordoned off so local vendors don't harass you. Snag a spot in the middle or back to avoid the constant parade of vendors.

We had two minor problems that when compared to other reviews really weren't problems at all - a leaking bathroom sink which was repaired that afternoon once we notified the front desk and a 30 minute wait for the clubhouse attendant to show up and change the channel on the TV so we could watch a big game.

Just know that Cascadas is a quiet place and the staff works to keep it that way. The rooms do not contain TVs, radios or telephones. Radios are not permitted at the pools or on the beach unless you have headphones and they will enforce this rule! There are 5 TVs in the Clubhouse if you must have your TV fix. There was a mix of young and old here. It's not for everyone. If you want an all day/night party place, this is not it. If you want a peaceful, relaxing spot, Cascadas fits the bill. The Club has an extensive activities schedule - movies, water aerobics, arts & crafts for the kids, etc. and the Hospitality Desk was more than helpful arranging outside activities. Cabo San Lucas and its attractions are a 10-15 minute walk and taxi's are always available so you don't need to rent a car if you're not going to tour around the region.

This palce was so bad that we actually paid airfare penalties and flew home three days early!. Beware of "switch and bait" tactics- the "villas" you do not see are the ones you may get. Instead of the lovely place we saw in the pictures we were assigned nothing more than a hotel room with a pull-out bed for the girls. We had no view and were no where near the beach or pool. All we heard we people being rowdy at night from the street corner below and car traffic sounds. Ahhh, paradise!!!!! Staff was rude, we repeatedly insisted that they move us, and each day we were told to come back at 4pm and we would be moved, each day this did not happen.
Our "villa" had bugs, spiders and cockroaches. No closet space or cabinets.
Given the bug situation, I was just as happy to keep things in my suitcases.
Please do not think I am a hotel snob, I have travelled extensively through Africa, mexico and central America and lived in Europe and Asia for seven years. I have stayed in the cheapest, funkiest hotels in Morrocco and the Ritz in Paris. I love to travel and enjoy the experience of different cultures and in my 50 years of life I have never encountered anything so misleading as Club Cascadas. My husband, who is from Mexico and has spanish as his first language spoke with the manager who told him that the "villa" we got was standard for one bedroom II exchanges, this was a total LIE- as we met another family who checked in the day we did who were given a one bedroom , two story villa with private hot tub and beach/pool view!!. They had exchanged a one bedroom also. We had exchanged our one bedroom from Colorado. The only good thing is the food and drinks were great and the beach is lovely-but do not go there. The hotels on either side are also II and are fabulous!. Fortunately, we had spent the previous week at an amazing resort in San Jose Del Cabo so our trip was only a disaster during the last week!.

My wife and I just returned from a weeks stay at Club Casacades and the one word that stands out in my mind is DISAPPOINTED...

The grounds are as nice and well kept as everyone makes them out to be, and the atmoshphere is very quiet, almost comatose. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for in a resort. The majority of the guests are resort owners who are retirees. The only "young" crowd there appeared to be the children and grandchildren of the retirees who have tagged along for the free ride.

There are no activities (other than retiree games - bingo, water aerobics, etc) and the pool bars and adjoining hot tubs remained almost deserted even with an all day happy hour. The high cost of the drinks may have had something to do with that though. The beach is nice, but don't stake out a spot anywhere near the roped off boundaries. There is a constant stream of peddlers hawking their wares and the resort staff made no effort to run them off. They would even camp out at your feet in groups and wait for customers. Makes for a nice view.

The resort staff are not very warm and friendly. Most of the places I've been, the staff made you their #1 priority. At Cascades, it seemed that you often annoyed the staff with your questions or requests. I had to interrupt the pool bartender's game of PC Solitare just about every time I ordered a drink. One good thing, however, there is no sales pitch or pressure from any of the sales folks there.

If you're looking for a place to vegitate and do nothing, and I do mean nothing, then this is the place for you. If you're looking for a place to have a good time, then this is not the place for you. Also, make absolutely sure you can do without TV for a weeks time.

One word of CAUTION... If you are exchanging a one bedroom week thru II or RCI, BEWARE. You will NOT get one of the fancy villas that are shown on the website or the exchange catalog. The 1bdr exchange rooms are in the old "hotel" side of the resort. These rooms absolutely are the WORST I've ever seen at a 5 star resort. I've seen better at the local Roach Motels. Awful, awful, awful.......

All in all, the grounds are beautiful, the staff is competent but not friendly, the beach is nice, the peddlers are a nuisance, and Club Cascasdes was not the place for us.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a week at Club Cascades de Baja in Cabo San Lucus. We bought the timeshare at a charity auction and being huge fans of Cabo, were extremely excited about our week in Baja Ca. We do our share of traveling and have stayed everywhere from high dollar exclusive resorts to small-town hole in the wall 'dive motels' so are well aware and accepting of diverse accomodations. In researching Club Cascades, we read about the award-winning architecture the resort had to offer - and from what we saw, it was overdone, outdated, and most importantly, a far cry from focusing on the real reason travelers visit Cabo, the beach. Our room, while large and spacious, had a view of a wall and a tennis court. The sound of the ocean was nowhere to be heard - in fact, the only true 'beach' room was that of the owners which is huge (takes up a large portion of the pool area), private, and has its own beach (which takes away from the beach the rest of the guests have to share). The maid service was fair and again, the location was a dream (if you want to be close to Medano Beach/town of Cabo) - but never again would we choose to go to the beach and agree to stay at a place so poorly designed as Club Cascades. Our overall vacation was fabulous, despite our stay at Cascades but think twice before booking a vacation here.

We just got back from a wonderful stay at Club Cascadas. Our children especially enjoyed the time they spent playing with their new friends.

This resort is really a one of a kind. Very different from the typical timeshare resorts. It was this difference that really gave us the greatest pleasure.

We were a little concerned about staying at a resort with no television in our suite, but I have to say we really enjoyed this. The best was when our son read us one of his books one evening. Now that just doesn't happen anymore. It was great!

Staff and guests are like old family. Many of the people we met have been vacationing at CC for many years with new generations now joining into the family.

A great place to go for a visit
