We just got back from a week in Cabo at Club Cascadas (Sept 1-8). We enjoyed our stay very much. Traded through II. We were a bit apprehensive after reading about some reviews, but must say we did not have any problems at all. Our room was ready on our arrival - a ground floor 1 BR/1 BA "Perlita" suite. It was very clean (no bugs) with a hammock on the patio. The grounds at Cascadas are well shaded to keep the Sept. heat down. You are just steps from the beach or pools. The private beach has palapas (thatched umbrellas) and is cordoned off so local vendors don't harass you. Snag a spot in the middle or back to avoid the constant parade of vendors.
We had two minor problems that when compared to other reviews really weren't problems at all - a leaking bathroom sink which was repaired that afternoon once we notified the front desk and a 30 minute wait for the clubhouse attendant to show up and change the channel on the TV so we could watch a big game.
Just know that Cascadas is a quiet place and the staff works to keep it that way. The rooms do not contain TVs, radios or telephones. Radios are not permitted at the pools or on the beach unless you have headphones and they will enforce this rule! There are 5 TVs in the Clubhouse if you must have your TV fix. There was a mix of young and old here. It's not for everyone. If you want an all day/night party place, this is not it. If you want a peaceful, relaxing spot, Cascadas fits the bill. The Club has an extensive activities schedule - movies, water aerobics, arts & crafts for the kids, etc. and the Hospitality Desk was more than helpful arranging outside activities. Cabo San Lucas and its attractions are a 10-15 minute walk and taxi's are always available so you don't need to rent a car if you're not going to tour around the region.
