We actually booked Unit 123 (a remodeled 1-bedroom oceanfront unit) in Dec. 2007 through Rockstar Rentals – a full nine months in advance. The day before we left for Cabo, Timmy at Rockstar called us to tell us the unit was double-booked and that he moved us to Unit 121, a three-bedroom oceanfront unit that was two doors down from Unit 123. Upon arrival, we discovered that, although Unit 121 had a beautifully remodeled kitchen, everything else was original and in pretty sad shape, including the furniture. Also, the A/C never got below 80 degrees. The unit also smelled like a sewer – the smell was coming from the vents in the shower floors. We went to the front desk and had them call Timmy who promised to move us the following day.
Day 2, we were moved to Unit 118, which is a 2-bedroom unit. Although it is not oceanfront, it still had a great view past the main pool and to the ocean. The balcony is very small, but the tile was nicely redone and the furniture very nice and also comfortable. There is also a BBQ grill there for guest use. The week we were there, it was so hot/humid that we didn't spend any time on the balcony at all.
Unit 118 has been completely remodeled and is exceptionally beautiful. All of the furniture is very nice and comfortable, with the exception of the two couches in the living room. They are quite odd – they are so low to the floor that when you sit on them, your behind is practically on the floor.
The owner of this Unit keeps it well supplied. We didn’t have to purchase anything at all (other than our own food). Last year, we stayed in Unit 212, and we had to buy everything... even toilet paper! So, this was a very nice change. The kitchen had a full set of the normal condiments already provided. Also, all of the appliances were very upscale, including the blender, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, etc. There is a full wet bar in the kitchen area in case you like making your own drinks. There just wasn't a single thing that wasn't provided and/or well stocked in this Unit. Clearly, the owner of this unit is very thoughtful and considerate of its renters.
Tons of storage available in this unit, too, which was really nice. There was a big flat screen TV with full satellite access in the living room and bedroom. There was also a computer in the second bedroom, but we couldn’t get it to work. There were two storms coming in, and so I think they may have interfered with the wireless network. No worries, because at the bottom of the hill from Terrasol, there is a little coffee shop that has two computers you can use for free if you buy something from them (and their fruit smoothies were awesome!).
The master bedroom has a very comfortable king-size bed. The second bedroom had two twin beds and plenty of closet space. Both bathrooms were very posh and very tastefully updated, and had these cool vessel sinks. We definitely felt quite spoiled in this unit.
We ate down at the little palapa restaurant/bar next to the main pool on several days. We brought the tuna we caught to the restaurant and had it grilled up for tacos. For two of us, it cost a total of only $10.00 and it was really delicious.
We’ve stayed at Terrasol before (in unit 212) and I have to say that the staff there is the absolute best. Always extremely friendly, and they always go way out of their way to help you with anything that you need.
My recommendation: Try to rent directly from an owner instead of going through a broker. No one needs to be bumped to another unit the day before they arrive, especially when they rent the unit nine months in advance. Also, make sure you see photos of the unit you’re renting – not all Terrasol units have been updated. Some are in pretty bad shape. Avoid these issues and you’ll absolutely love Terrasol. It’s a nice, quiet resort on a vendorless beach. The management and staff are the best. And Terrasol is walking distance to town. Since it’s sandwiched in between two resorts, you have resort amenities available to you next door. We will definitely stay at Terrasol again.
