We stayed at Casa Rafael's for a short three night stay during May 23-26, 2006. This is our fifth visit to Cabo San Lucas and we have stayed once in San Jose Del Cabo and the rest of the times in a big and fancy hotel right on Medano Beach. After reading the great reviews on trip advisor (and after having a bad experience during our last visit at our normal hotel) we decided why not give Casa Rafael's a try! We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Casa Rafael's. The hotel is spotless...very clean. The shower water is hot and has good pressure. We stayed in the room, Josephina and it was a wonderful room. It was big and had a huge patio with lounge chairs. Don't forget to bring CD's because they have CD players in the rooms. The only bad thing was the construction close by, that starts early in the morning. However, there is construction going on EVERYWHERE in Cabo. The customer service was the best. Allison, Jacob, Jesus, Manuel....everyone was wonderful! Do not come to this hotel expecting anything big and fancy. It is more like a bed and breakfast atmosphere. It is very cozy and intimate. It is very convienent, as you can walk everywhere (Medano beach is just around the corner with The Office, etc. - the Marina and mall are just around the corner with great restaurants -- and night life is also just around the corner!). We had the best time and best experience at Casa Rafael's. The only reason why I didn't rate it excellent is because the restaurant closes at 10pm and after a late night it would have been nice to munch on some good food! We will definitely be returning to Casa Rafaels!

It was our 3rd trip to beautiful Cabo San Lucas. Our previous trips we stayed at a pricey resort off of Medano Beach. During our last visit everyone kept recommending Casa Rafaels for the restaurant. My husband and brother in law went when the restaurant was closed but asked to see the rooms The owner showed them the rooms without hesitation. So this recent trip we decided to stay at this hotel.
The drive up to the hotel doesnt do it justice. It is a well kept secret .The hotel is quaint and has a home away from home feeling. They have no TVs in the rooms but they have a community one in the lobby (sitting room) and the staff is very accomodating to put on whatever guest desire. The hotel is really clean. The rooms have air conditioning and the suites have private balcony's and safes. Amazing as it was we felt safer in this small hotel than in the bigger hotels. They had mini bars, hot water, drinking water. The only thing going is they stop serving food at 10pm. So the first night we went out we came back and was unable to order room service. I must say the staff did offer to make us a salad. Anything to try and accomodate us. Which was very kind and sincere.
The owner was friendly , sat and talked to us. She knew who was in her resort and seemed to care. The staff was remarkable and at times it was like we had our own butler... They dont have phones in the room, but the front desk helped when making local calls. Not such a let down due to the pricey hotels charging $10 fee just to use your phone even with phone cards. This hotel is located conveniently to walking distance to the beach, nightlife, mall, food, marina etc...no taxi needed except from airport.
For the price we would definitely use this hotel again. We just found our home away from home.

I loved this little hotel on the only swimming beach in Cabo. Friendly staff and clean rooms that were large and charmingly decorated.
Bring your cell phone though, I had no phone in my room.
The pool is small but clean, my daughter actually learned to swim there. I guess it is a lap pool.
There are animals everywhere, but only the good ones. Parrots, cats etc. they really make you feel at home.
The hotel is very close to the Marina and newly built mall.
I recommend this hotel to any and everyone.

This hotel is very charming! Staff is very helpful (Jorge is great). The only drawback is the noise from construction and occasionally from the piano bar downstairs. Food at the in-house restaurant is very good, too. Location is great: views of Land's End from the hotel or and from the beach. It is a 2 minute walk to Medano Beach but if the all-day happy hour/spring-break environment is not your thing, walk a little bit further down. Great place for people watching! Hotel is also a very short walk to the marina. If you are looking for whalewatching or snorkeling trips, try La Princesa (dock D). We saw four whales on the first trip and manta ray, marlin, dolphins and lots of exotic fish on the second. For a great seafood restaurant, try Mocambo's, which is less than a five minute walk from the marina.

We stayed here a few weeks ago and had mixed feelings about the hotel. Great location for beach and town. Really, a very charming place if that's what you're looking for. The staff seemed a little burnt out probably after a busy season. Some of the other drawbacks were due to it being the off season. There was some maintenance like painting and stuff going on which was distracting and the restaurants weren't available. Overall average, not stellar.
