I read about the Bungalows Hotel, which is more like a B&B, in my Lonelyplanet guide and since it was rated "their pick" in Los Cabos I thought I'll give it a try... and I definitely wasn't disappointed...
Since we travelled during the Swine Flu period, the hotel was empty, we got a great discount, and we were welcomed by Eric with the words "my house is your house"... and I must say, I never felt more like at home than during those two (way too short stay !) days in Los Cabos... the honeymoon suite was perfect, with the little veranda to enjoy a beer during the evening, the awesome comfortable bed, the little details in the decoration, the breakfast a dream with homemade pancakes, fruits, eggs, just to fulfill all your culinary dreams :-) Eric drove us to the restaurant at night, I can absolutely recommend the Argentinian restaurant on the way "downtown"... Eric even went to a shoemaker to bring my bag because it was broken...
Don't spend your money to go to one of these huge 5* hotels at the beach, The Bungalows Hotel is much nicer !

This was mine and my wife Jenny's second stay at the Bungalows after previously visiting Cabo in 2007 and happily nothing had changed....it is still perfect in our opinion.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, air conditioned and maid serviced every day with fresh towels, complimentary drinking water and packs of filter coffee.
Our bed linen was also changed regularly during our stay.
The cosy suites have a fridge and microwave and a coffee making facility and whilst the kitchen isn't really geared up for preparing a large meal it is ideal for rustling up a sandwich or snack to keep you going.

The pool area is clean and has comfortable loungers and chairs, it also has plenty of umbrellas and shady areas to get out of the intense Mexican sunshine.

The manager Eric is a top guy, very warm and friendly and will go out of his way to help and make your stay an enjoyable one, he has a very good knowledge of Cabo and the surrounding area along with the best restaurants and bars to visit, so before venturing out into Cabo or arranging a trip or activity just have a word with Eric.

The Bungalows has a lovely family atmosphere with Eric's mother and sister helping with breakfast service.

Onto the Bungalows breakfasts then......fantastic !!!!

Every day you get a different freshly blended fruit juice and very good freshly made coffee with plenty of refills followed by a plate of fresh fruit consisiting of pineapple, mango, melon or whatever fruits are available that day.
This is followed by whatever they decide to freshly prepare and cook that day, the Burritos and the Omlettes with a mushroom cream sauce are to die for (Eric will let you have another Burrito if you can manage one but they are rather large, I did but then Eric knows I'm a growing lad) but all the breakfast dishes are excellent and you'll walk away satisfied and set up for the day ahead.

The hotel is situated in a quiet part of town away from the merry making and bustle of Cabo, but a 5 to 10 minute walk and you're in the middle of all the bars and restaurants.

We have family who live just outside Cabo and can be accomodated free gratis, but in testiment to how lovely the Bungalows is we had to stay there some part of our visit this time.

We can't wait to visit Cabo again and we know where we will be staying some part of our trip.

Just got back from our stay at the bungalows, stayed on the advice and reviews on tripadvisor. First of all the staff is great, BUT is not located very close to ANYTHING unless you are really into walking. The little market they have around the corner has only soda and alot of mexican snacks, so would advise if you stay there to take a trip to Costco or Walmart which is a $12 cab ride each way to get the snacks you need for your stay. Tourism is way down and the locals are trying to make up for it by CHARGING way to much for everything. Even the local taco stands around the corner charge $8 for two tacos, a hole in the wall steak place which came highly recommended, called the Padagonia had steak dinners for $25, which came with steak and either fries or salad with no dressing. Only a few bungalows have balconys with views otherwise you are looking at rooftops or the run down neighborhood, this place by the way is located in a residential neighborhood. This place is NOT a child friendly place, unless you rent a car, or decide on taking a taxi to get everywhere, it is to far from everything to walk with children, and the so called sidewalks are not suited for a stroller. Wished we would have stayed on the Tourist Coridor, it is beautiful there and you are on the BEACH, and close to EVERYTHING. If you are into just sitting around your room and reading then this is the place for you but otherwise would suggest you look elsewhere. Sorry Bungalows but was not impressed at all, and was not impressed with Cabo either, wished we would have gone back to Costa Rica which is really BEAUTIFUL!!!

The Bungalows are wonderful!! We booked based on what we saw on tripadvisor.com and The Bungalows lived up to all the rave reviews. First, our email interaction with Carina (the family reservation coordinator) was excellent. She answered all of our questions when we were still state-side, and was a huge help when we had to juggle around our dates, etc. Our welcome from the inn-keeper, Erik, was just as described: a big bear hug! The courtyard, pool and grounds are beautiful!! The honeymoon suite is very special. And breakfast: YUM!!

There are two rules you should know: First, there is no smoking allowed at The Bungalows. Second, you are to treat the Bungalows like your home. On this note, someone before complained that they did not like the way Erik visited, laughed and talked with friends while “waiting” on guests. They obviously feel that an in-keeper is there only to serve them and, with that attitude, we can see how that guest became annoyed. We looked at our stay as though we were a part of The Bungalows’ family. We laughed and talked with Erik and his family. One day his little niece came to swim in the pool and was adorable splashing around. Erik gave us a couple of rides into town, called out for tacos for all of us when we got hungry, offered us whatever he was drinking, etc. He took care of our every need, but as if we were a beloved family member, not just a paying patron. We even helped ourselves to the fridge.

The only thing I did not like about The Bungalows is how far it is from the beach. It’s about a 10 minute walk or $6 taxi ride to the marina, and then a bit of a walk from there to swim. So, here’s what we recommend: Stay a couple of days at some big, impersonal resort ON the beach. Enjoy tailored staff serving you drinks and lay out with 100 other hotel guests. Then head to The Bungalows for the rest (and majority) of your trip…where nothing is impersonal, every detail is thought of, and you’re a part of the family.

We stayed at The Bungalows for two nights before going to Pueblo Bonito Pacifico, and we're gald we did. From the moment we arrived, Eric made us feel like family. We had a suite with an open patio and a hammock, and it was divine. Breakfast was outstanding, just like othes have written.

My wife requested a massage, and Jacquelin gave her the best one she's had in years. By all means get one.

The hotel is cute and clean -- a nice change of pace from the sheer size of the resorts (although they are nice as well), and it's a short walk to town. We'll definitely come back next year, and will stay for longer than two nights.
