We just returned from a three night stay at The Bungalows, and we were so impressed with the level of service we just had to write. Estella and Eric went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect visit and we really appreciated everything they did. For example, free movies and popcorn whenever you want. Smoothies and juice for the asking. Complementary 15 minute massages. (We thoroughly enjoyed Lilia's massages up on the rooftop, and purchased an additional 30 minutes for $30 USD. A real bargain, of which there aren't many in Cabo!) And for my birthday, Eric stayed up late the night before making me his special flan! I was truly blown away!
We stayed in the smallest unit, a "Cozy Suite", but it didn't feel small at all. We especially liked the partially enclosed bed area. It felt really nice and cozy, with the soft cotton bedding, comforter and quilt, and the pillows were perfect. I usually have problems sleeping in hotels, but not there! The towels and bedding had a lovely fragrance, very light and tropical. The handmade soaps were a real treat, and had a similar fragrance. Everything was clean and fresh, and we never saw a bug anywhere. And that's amazing considering we're in the tropics! The suite also had a small kitchen equipped with a refrigerator and a coffee press, and there's a small seating area where the TV is located. One suggestion I would make would be to provide more comfortable furniture for the seating area, if at all possible. The love seat was attractive and functional, but it was made out of wood and iron. Even though the seat and back were padded it wasn't very comfortable for movie watching. Estella and the staff do so many extra special things to promote relaxation, so while we're enjoying those movies and popcorn it would be nice to have a soft comfortable chair or sofa to curl up in (since we can't view the TV from the bed). That would make everything absolutely perfect!!!
Now about the town, it's a short walk down the hill to the Marina area where there are lots of restaurants, and just a little further to the shopping areas. We usually walked down and took a taxi back up because by then we were exhausted. We picked up a taxi once at the town square and another time at the mall. Both times they quoted $6.00 USD to get to The Bungalows, and when we offered $5.00 USD they took it. You won't want to miss the glass bottom boat trip out to Land's End! It's only $10 USD per person, and was the best $10 we ever spent. We even saw some whales in full breach out on the Pacific (it's late January and whale season). If you like sunbathing and snorkeling, have them drop you off at Lover's Beach, but be prepared to get wet as you disembark. There's no dock so you have to jump off into the waves on the beach (and you'll have to wade out and climb back on when they pick you up). This beach is by far the best one we visited, and is unique because it straddles the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. It's very beautiful and relatively quiet (compared to Medano Beach) and it's safe to swim on the Sea of Cortez side. For dining, if you don't want to pay the high restaurant prices try some of the local taco shops. We highly recommend Pepe's Tacos on the main drag. Really inexpensive and great carnitas, but they don't open until 7:00pm. Another good one is Cabo Taco further down on the same street. They specialize in seafood tacos and are open for lunch.
Bottom line, there's no better place than The Bungalows for great personal service, and truly caring people. They will spoil you so much, you'll never want to stay in an impersonal hotel again!
