This was the first time my husband and I vacationed in Cabo. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. We loved the flare of “vintage Mexico” the Bungalows has, from their incredible hospitality to the gourmet breakfast, the hotel and the staff made our stay a vacation to remember. The Bungalows is located on top of a hill, a ten minute walk from the center of town. We enjoyed walking everyday, sometimes twice, and are convinced this is why we did not gain any weight during our vacation. The pool is heated, the rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. Eric and Estella did a phenomenal job in making our stay as pleasant as possible.

When you arrive at the Cabo airport, beware of the timeshare sales people. You will get accosted! It’s worth spending the extra $30.00 and renting a suburban with a driver. We had the most incredible dinner at the Sunset Mona Lisa Restaurant; it was like something out of a movie. I booked an afternoon massage and pedicure at the RUI Palace. It was wonderful! and lunch was included. Beware of the jello shots at the Giggling Marlin, what a scam! A guy and gal come by with a tray of jello shots, force them down your throat and then tell you that you owe them $20.00. The other learning lesson is call from Mexico to the United States; make sure you buy a calling card. DO NOT SWIPE YOUR CREDIT IN A PAY PHONE! IT WILL COST YOU $43 PER CALL.

We traveled up North to the fishing town of Los Barillas. We stayed at the Playa del Sol Hotel. I would suggest staying at the Hotel next door at the PALMAS DE CORTEZ, it’s much nicer and not much more in price. Fishing was great. Los Barillas is much more relaxed and no pressure from sales people.

Our overall vacation was great. We learned what to do and not do.

My wife and I just got back from a week's stay at the Bungalows. I was last there 8 years ago and was hoping I'd have the same great stay as I had in the past and was not disappointed. This is a very quaint, scenic little oasis about 6 blocks from the downtown. If you want to wake up on the beach or have all the amenities of a huge resort, this isn't the place for you. If you want a cute, clean room that has a kitchenette, a comfortable bed and a different gourmet breakfast everyday included in the price of your room, book now.
The real draw to the Bungalows is the management. Erik is a true host in every sense of the word. He enjoys his job and takes great pride in what he does and what he cooks. Every guest gets a special greeting at breakfast in the morning and he is more than willing to help out any way he can.
On our last night, my wife and I returned late to the hotel and found Erik waiting up for us. We had an emergency message to call home. He provided us with the hotel's phone and then helped us make a change in our flight to get home the next day. Never once did he ask us to make up the costs of the several state-side calls. Many resorts would leave you looking for a phone card and pay phone (if you got the message at all), but Erik treated us like family and for that we will always be in his debt. He sent us off with hugs and well-wishes. How many travelers can say they've been treated so well?
The Bungalows isn't just a place to stay, it's a place to unwind, relax, have fun and enjoy some fun people who are enjoying themselves as much as you are.
Bravo, Erik, Junior and Estella and everyone else there. Well done!

My girlfriend won a trip to Cabo. Before arriving, we read several reviews and decided to try The Bungalows Hotel. We stayed in room #3, which offers a private patio with a hammock, rocking chairs and a small table. The room was prepared very nicely with fresh flowers and chocolates on the bed. Eric showed us to our room, which was perfect for both my girlfriend and I. Estella, the manager, is awesome! She will offer you as much or as little advice, as you need or want. You need to understand that she knows travelers better than you might think in that she can read us pretty well. We are very adventurous and enjoyed talking with Estella every day! In fact, her daughter picked out some very nice flowers for my girlfriend as we celebrated her birthday on February 20, 2008.

Speaking of February 20, 2008, we enjoyed a full lunar eclipse while swimming in the hotel pool. Following our swim, Eric called for a taxi, which took us to Edith’s restaurant located near “The Office”. Following a wonderful meal we walked on the beach and watched the termination of the lunar eclipse.

LOCATION: The Bungalows is within a ten to 15 minute walk of down town Cabo. Within that same short walk you can run directly into Cabo Wabo, Squid Row, the marina, Hard Rock Café, etc. A taxi ride will run you about $8.00 one way and well worth the walk considering how much we ate and enjoyed the local flavor!

ACCOMODATIONS: Top-notch for the money!! Both my girlfriend and I will come back and stay at The Bungalows Hotel. Keep in mind this hotel is not like an “all inclusive resort” but offers one the laid back feeling of being on vacation. We also stayed at Dreams Los Cabos during this trip and cannot in all fairness compare the two hotels. If you want to be waited on hand and foot, pick one of the many “resorts” but for a peaceful stay, I recommend the comforts of The Bungalows Hotel.

BED: Perfect, comfortable and the pillows were fresh. The room is always neatly picked up each day and restocked with bottled water as needed – you get a gallon to start with and more as you need. (Keep in mind my girlfriend is very much akin to the story known as “The princess and the pea” story…so, for her to say that she slept well should mean a lot to all those who enjoy a good nights’ sleep.

BREAKFAST: OMG! The pancakes are plentiful, fresh juice is refreshing, the coffee comes in a HUGE cup. You can get all the refills on coffee as your bladder will hold! We only stayed at The Bungalows two nights and our second breakfast was just as plentiful!

SUMMARY: Estella, Eric and Estella’s daughter offer you a “local family feeling” of being welcomed to Mexico. Their hospitality, can-do spirit, and friendliness is A+! We looked at the honeymoon suite and enjoyed the spaciousness, view, and amenities.

Thank you Estella for your friendship, dedication to making our trip memorable and your family are very special! See you next February and possibly every February!! RNS & CID!!

The Bungalows has been a favorite of ours for a long time. We own timeshares and find that the Bungalows is perfect for those who need an extra day or two before or after their timeshare week. Also a great place for those who really don't like the resort atmosphere and want to stay away from it completely.
We had a room with a patio and hammock. The bed was comfortable. Everything is on a smaller scale then at a resort but it is cozy, clean and well maintained.
Can't ever say enough about the breakfast! From the coffee to the presentation of the meal it is 1st rate! LOVE IT!
Estelle, Junior and Eric are all so helpful. The staff have all been there a long time and that says something right there about how the Bungalows is consistantly a great place to stay!
The Bungalows is not for everyone. If you like to party, be right in where all the action is, have very active kids, want HBO and room service then this is not the place. Perfect for those who like to come back from exploring during the day to a pefect oasis to relax at.

We stayed at the Bungalows for a week in February 2008, and would definitely return. The food was amazing -- fresh and delicious. The staff was delightful, arranging taxis, restaurants and outings. The hotel is located on a fairly busy street in a neighborhood and the noise of traffic, music and barking dogs was hard to get used to. That was the only downside, however. Lovely pool, amazing landscaping that is beautifully cared for, comfortable beds, easy walk to town and the beach. As other reviewers have said, this is definitely not the Hyatt Regency or a beachfront time share. The rooms are fairly small, and there is no real good reading light or comfy chairs for after-dark reading. We always read on our patio or by the pool, which was fine in the day time! Our room had a french press coffee maker (yum) and a small refrigerator. Breakfast is served on the patio from 8-10 and we never needed lunch. Meals included omelettes, stuffed french toast, banana pancakes, eggs benedict and always with fresh fruit, smoothies, juice, etc. Highly recommended.
