My girlfriend won a trip to Cabo. Before arriving, we read several reviews and decided to try The Bungalows Hotel. We stayed in room #3, which offers a private patio with a hammock, rocking chairs and a small table. The room was prepared very nicely with fresh flowers and chocolates on the bed. Eric showed us to our room, which was perfect for both my girlfriend and I. Estella, the manager, is awesome! She will offer you as much or as little advice, as you need or want. You need to understand that she knows travelers better than you might think in that she can read us pretty well. We are very adventurous and enjoyed talking with Estella every day! In fact, her daughter picked out some very nice flowers for my girlfriend as we celebrated her birthday on February 20, 2008.
Speaking of February 20, 2008, we enjoyed a full lunar eclipse while swimming in the hotel pool. Following our swim, Eric called for a taxi, which took us to Edith’s restaurant located near “The Office”. Following a wonderful meal we walked on the beach and watched the termination of the lunar eclipse.
LOCATION: The Bungalows is within a ten to 15 minute walk of down town Cabo. Within that same short walk you can run directly into Cabo Wabo, Squid Row, the marina, Hard Rock Café, etc. A taxi ride will run you about $8.00 one way and well worth the walk considering how much we ate and enjoyed the local flavor!
ACCOMODATIONS: Top-notch for the money!! Both my girlfriend and I will come back and stay at The Bungalows Hotel. Keep in mind this hotel is not like an “all inclusive resort” but offers one the laid back feeling of being on vacation. We also stayed at Dreams Los Cabos during this trip and cannot in all fairness compare the two hotels. If you want to be waited on hand and foot, pick one of the many “resorts” but for a peaceful stay, I recommend the comforts of The Bungalows Hotel.
BED: Perfect, comfortable and the pillows were fresh. The room is always neatly picked up each day and restocked with bottled water as needed – you get a gallon to start with and more as you need. (Keep in mind my girlfriend is very much akin to the story known as “The princess and the pea” story…so, for her to say that she slept well should mean a lot to all those who enjoy a good nights’ sleep.
BREAKFAST: OMG! The pancakes are plentiful, fresh juice is refreshing, the coffee comes in a HUGE cup. You can get all the refills on coffee as your bladder will hold! We only stayed at The Bungalows two nights and our second breakfast was just as plentiful!
SUMMARY: Estella, Eric and Estella’s daughter offer you a “local family feeling” of being welcomed to Mexico. Their hospitality, can-do spirit, and friendliness is A+! We looked at the honeymoon suite and enjoyed the spaciousness, view, and amenities.
Thank you Estella for your friendship, dedication to making our trip memorable and your family are very special! See you next February and possibly every February!! RNS & CID!!
