“What a special place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Just returned from a week at Sirena Del Mar and could not hve enjoyed it more. Beautiful! Every room with an ocean view & lovely patio space with chairs, table & sofa; rooms are very well-appointed, the A units (large one-bedroom) have a FULL kitchen with granite countertops, stainless appliances, fully equipped pots & pans, margarita & wine glasses, etc. (I would bring a decent knife next time, that can often be a missing item in these kitchens) Bathroom & shower - very nice. Bed - very comfy. View- not to be beat. Probably the only less desirable rooms would be those closer to or overlooking the pool closely. Pools - two, both "infinity" type, hot tub/spa - really nice, gorgeous, swim-up bar, GYM - has everything you'd want.

The beach that is just below the hotel - down a very impressive (100 steps!) spiral staircase - you CAN swim there, though it is slightly rocky. Hotel has beach chairs with built-in coolers in them, snorkel equipmt to borrow (no fins though) and we were told that that very beach has some of the best snorkeling in the area. The day we tried to snorkel there was poor visibility because of the previous day's storm. Almost no one at the beach...

The STAFF were wonderful! Fully fluent in English, very willing to help with everything - And I must mention Francisco! The (head) bellman - a great guy, friendly & helpful. Also the concierge ladies - both Cynthia and Fedra - were really nice & helpful. Cynthia even called us the day before we were leaving home to check in & offer any help needed etc.

We loved Cabo! Had never been there. This was a time-share exchange through Interval Internat'l. The people are so friendly, and most are fluent in English. All the spanish you have comes in very handy, though. Someone's advice to make your own deal with the people in town for charters, sunset cruises, etc - good tip - we did that & saved some $ from the ones the hotel rec'd - although they do know some very good fishing charter boat captains. The time share folks are on every corner and it is rather obnoxious so be prepared for a lot of no gracias - the hotel folks do NOT push it too much at all, though, but if you want you can go to their presentation & get deals, discounts etc. That is not for us.
I would recommend renting a car!!! It is a great idea, we could not have done without it - yes we shopped at Walmart, too, and did a lot of our own cooking. But it's handy to go in & out of town, try the other areas, etc. (we played golf twice - once at Cabo Real, and once at Campestre - both were great)
Sirena del Mar is a few miles outside of town - maybe 4 or 5 ? - and taking buses & taxis would be a pain. It is great that Sirena Del Mar is a little ways outside of town - much quieter - not a ton of partying & loud obnoxious tourists. We were not there for the night life. This is a mid-sized place - about 80 rooms, I think. It is fabulous! Could not be lovelier.

Room Tip: rooms with an 03, 02 or 01 - as in 1103, 1102, 1101, or 2203, etc might be better, a bit further awa...

We stayed at the Welk Resort at Sirena Del Mar based upon previous Tripadvisor ratings. I'm always a bit cautious of guest ratings but every positive comment you may read about this resort is true. My wife and I couldn't have selected a better property for our first visit to Cabo. Understand that this a timeshare property, so be prepared for the "soft" sell that they offer. I've been pressured way more at other properties. We had a single room that consisted of a dining room/kitchen area and a king bed that had fantastic views. All suites face the ocean and the rocky shore. You also have a great view of Land's End and if you’re lucky a whale or two, swimming by. For dining, you will have to venture into downtown Cabo, cab fare is usually $15 one way. They do have a restaurant and a couple pool side bars. Tuesday's are Taco Tuesdays, so don't miss that, esp. the fish tacos. The property was very clean and quiet. Just what we were looking for. There is a long drive to the main street; we did walk it once coming back from a small convenience store. It's an easy walk and the store has most of your basic needs....tequila, wine! Before we arrived, I was in email communication with their concierge, Cynthia. She was fantastic. She set up a massage for my wife, which is positioned perfectly on an upper deck out looking the sea, and she was extremely friendly and welcoming. She recommended a few local restaurants. My wife and I stay away from the tourist trap areas. Make sure you visit the restaurant Mariscos "Las Tres Islas". Fantastic food, wonderful, friendly staff. A great local feel. When I return, I will be looking forward to staying here again. Hands Down!

Room Tip: If you're staying for a week, there is a Sam's club nearby to stock up. Travel from the air...

Sirena Del Mar was quite a pleasant surprise and the reviews are very accurate starting with the staff meeting and greeting you at reception. Room (very large one bedroom with fabulous views, full kitchen and great bathrooms). The main pool area has it all with another area for jacuzzi. The fitness room is very large and well equipped. Being close but not in Cabo is great for us as it is very quiet but convenient if we needed to go downtown. Small and very swimable beach topped it off. They even have BBQs for you to do your own steaks/burgers etc. Will definetely be back.

We stayed in a one bedroom for 8 nights. Room was well appointed and the entire resort is extremely well maintained and clean. Location is amazing but not convenient as far as walking. Taxis are easy to catch both at the resort and from the taxi stands in Cabo or San Jose. The staff were amazing and daughter still talks about Carlos! There is a very good reason why the resort receives such fantastic ratings!

One tip: before we arrived, I preordered groceries from one of the online grocery services. Our groceries and fresh produce were delivered shortly after arrival. We were able to enjoy making our own breakfast and eating it on the balcony, enjoying the amazing views each morning. We did use the BBQ located near the pool.

What a great place to get away from EVERYTHING. This is a relatively new (5 yrs) resort, carved in to the cliffs of Cabo. About 20 minutes from the Circus of downtown and marina district.
QUIET, intimate, and a small paradise really.

The staff is unbelievable. Most all that you'll engage speak English and Spanish and all are wonderfully helpful and friendly - and great at on the spot Spanish lessons. If you head out, check in with Gina, Fernda, Cynthia, Jazzee, Manny, Domingo, Antonio, Alex or any of the other folks you'll meet. They'll help you navigate the town and the language.

However, if you really don't need to leave the resort. Everything is available. Private beach, wonderful food, two pools that rarely have more than one or two people in them! Seriously!

Most would consider this a boutique resort wtih only 68 residences. The photos at the resort website are EXACTLY what you'll get!

Can't wait to come back.

Muy Bien!

Great views, comfortable, clean resort. The staff is friendly and helpful. Francisco at the bell desk even tried to help find us someone checking out at the same time so we could save a few buck on the taxi to the airport by sharing. Everyone there goes out of their way to make your stay great. Loved the pools and private beach. There is snorkeling gear available all you need to do is ask. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Loved the balcony overlooking the Sea of Cortez and the view of El Arco.

This has to be one of the best places in stay in Cabo San Lucas. It is a lovely retreat from the constant hawking of wares and timeshares that you encounter at the airport and in town. The location is terrific. I strongly recommend renting a car at the airport. You will save scads of taxi money, especially if you make trips to Costco or Walmart to stock up on food and drink. Before your trip, arrange for rental car insurance from American Express. It will allow you to waive the LDW and CDW portion of insurance. You will have to purchase basic LLI (liability insurance) which is mandatory in Mexico. But you will come out well ahead of using taxis or paying for tours to Todos Santos and San Jose Del Cabo. The car rental agency will explain the procedure for using the side feeder road to make left turns or U-turns (returnos). It's a little strange at first but quickly becomes second hand. Watch other drivers to learn how they use the exits off the hwy as the way to get back on to the hwy from the feeder street. As for the resort, try your best to avoid the smaller single bedroom. While all the rooms have a great view, the larger units are quite a bit bigger and worth the upgrade. The smaller units combine the living and dining area into one. I felt a bit claustrophobic in it. The window faced the walkway like most motels. So there was no privacy in the living room without pulling the blackout curtains. And that made me feel like I was in a cave. Only the bedroom had access to the balcony and the sweeping view. But despite these complaints, the unit was still very nicely done. The amenities and the staff at the resort were magnificent. I have never been to resort this size and have the staff still remember my name. They were as courteous and accommodating as can be. While there is a $7/day resort fee, that includes wifi and valet parking. All I had to do was make a quick phone call and my car was there waiting for me by the time I got to the entrance. Anything we left in the car was always there whenever we returned. You couldn't feel more comfortable and safe. The pool area was superb with two zero edge pools on one level overlooking a spectacular view. The large hot tub was on its own level. We regularly saw whales breeching and spouting through their blow holes. Parasailers and jet skiers were within easy viewing distance without the racket of their motors. It was just so pleasant sitting out by the pool and be waited on. The fried calamari is excellent. If you choose, you can bring your own food and drink without a frown. There are two large gas grills in the pool area for you to prepare your own food. Should you want to drive into town to party, it is only a short drive. There is even a convenient large dirt parking lot across the street from the Paraiso Mall and marina if you want to avoid the hourly parking charges. The exercise room is well equipped and pleasant to use. The game room is located just off a nice sitting room and is loaded with pool table, foosball, air hockey and other games. Snorkeling equipment is complimentary. The beach area is beautiful, but I found the sand to be more coarse than I'm use to. Access to the beach meant a substantial decent and return climb through a well constructed turret. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I ever return to Cabo.

Room Tip: Request a larger room than the smallest one bedroom.
