Just returned this weekend from Marina Fiesta, and I loved it! Pool is great, food is very good, location can't be beat! Walking distance to everything. I mean, everything you need to walk to, you can easily walk to.

Though it's not on the beach, it's easily walkable to the beach and is a much easier location to walk to all the restaurants and downtown than the Pueblo Bonito resorts.

A bit about my experience at Marina Fiesta: The first 1/2-hour, I thought "uh oh" ... because we didn't get the room we were supposed to get. Checking in was a problem. We were supposed to have a Luxury Suite and were surprised to see an Exec Suite when we opened the door. But, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. After some successful negotiation at the front desk, we were upgraded to a 5th floor (top floor) Master Suite. This is two-rooms, 2-beds and a roll-out bed, full size kitchen, 2-full baths, extra large patio ... it was to die for!

It pays to be extra nice, rather than demanding or complaining with the staff, as with most places in Mexico. This place has a rep for overbooking -- in fact, the front desk told me the day after we arrived that they were overbooked by 18 rooms and had to outsource to other hotels. If you don't get what you expect when you arrive, take a deep breathe and remember it's not the U.S ... just be complimentary and they WILL help you. Another person I met who owns there confirmed that they often overpromise and underdeliver, but ... if you work it right, he's never had a problem getting what originally promise.

After checking in, everything was uphill from there. We were directly next to one of the solariums on the top floor (rooms 507/508 ... great!!!) It was like having our own private jacuzzi deck.

The pool at this resort is great! A good balance of families and singles. Not so many kids that I felt like I was at the kiddie pool.

Bartenders/waiters were good to us. Food was a little pricey but good.

Location can't beat. Yes, the beds are hard, but I didn't find it to be a problem. Staff is very nice. Housekeeping was very helpful. They didn't clean our room at the same time every day (sometimes it was early, sometimes not 'til 4:00) ... but it was always done by the time we got back later on. Called for more towels and extra pillows and they were up there within 10 minutes.

I'd definitely stay at Marina Fiesta again. I'd just really, really make sure that I'm getting the room I requested.

Just returned from a week at Maina Fiesta, and enjoyed the stay, however there are some things you need to know. One, if your resevation is for a studio executive beware, these are small rooms, and if they want to put you in room 126 graciously decline as this is next to the hallway leading to the restaurant next door, and you will hear nothing but dishes rattling all night. Two, Your mini bar charges will include the bottled water left on your bathroom counter each morning, amounts to about 10.00 US for the week, better off just to pay the charge than argue about it. The pool area is great and everythingis close by

Just spent a week at the Marina Fiesta Resort in Cabo San Lucas. The hotel was beautiful and the location could not be any more perfect. Within EASY walking distance to the marina, town, shops, clubs and even the beach! We were impressed with the security of the resort (fully gated and with staff at front entrance at all times.) A car is not needed unless you want to visit one of the local golf courses or cruise over to the neighboring town of San Jose Del Cabo. Taxis are, of course, available as an alternative, but we didn't find them necessary.

Our room overlooked the marina. It appears that all rooms have a view of the marina, a pool or both! Jacuzzis are scattered in several locations at solariums on the property. (The water was not extremely warm, but we didn't feel we needed the heat in 80 degree weather.) Both pool areas were peaceful. None of the aerobics at 7:00 am and game activity like some other resorts. The staff was excellent and service very prompt. Staff was always busy cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Maids did a very good job. Friends caught Dorado fish and the hotel restaurant cooked it up for us for a minimal charge...one of the best meals we had while vacationing. We had absolutely no problems with overcharges on the mini bar or anything else that had been previously reported in some other reviews. We were concerned from what others had reported, but our experience with the front desk staff was that they were very pleasant, helpful and spoke and understood English. We are definitely returning and can't say enough great things about this place!

The location is convenient, but we were pretty disappointed. Should have called it Marina Fiasco! No kidding, the mattress was on a concrete platform. Our backs hurt everyday. Luckily, they have a small spa onsite. (Got a decent massage and facial, nothing fabulous.) Around the resort, the jacuzzis were cold/lukewarm at best and there were no handrails to get in/out. We had to stand on a chair and help each other. Not sure if they use chlorine there either. They let babies in the pool in regular disposable diapers, not swimmies (Can you say, "Ecoli"?). That's a little frightening. Be forewarned - they reserve the tiniest studio units for RCI exchanges...not the ones you see on their website. Stay away from the breakfast buffet. It's the pits.

All in all, we LOVED Cabo, but we would have enjoyed it much more if we had stayed at another resort. Don't miss the Whale Watcher's Bar at the Finisterra Resort (we saw two - wish we stayed there.) The Cilantro Restaurant at Pueblo Bonito Rosa (another gorgeous place) was wonderful. Went sailing & snorkeling on the Encore 60' sailboat and really enjoyed that. Saw a sea lion, ate a terrific lunch (as far as those trips go) and the crew was great. The climate in Cabo is the best.

I had been so worried.....I would love to figure out how people come up with negative reviews for the Marina. I was there 12/19-12/27/04. There were 9 of us. Our one bedroom was a lock off so in essence it was two studios. #143 and #144. We also had unit #213. We had extra bed space....! The resort is fabulous. I had been worried about the "hard beds". Yes they are hard but it turns out that my morning cronic back pain dissapeared while I was in Cabo. The staff are so wonderful and while I was there it amazed me that I did not at anytime witness "management". Usually I view managers telling staff what to do etc. This is such a well oiled ship. Everyone goes about their business doing what they are supposed to do and as a visitor you wouldn't even notice. The units are huge. The cleaning staff is meticulous. I took my in-laws on this trip and now I am a hero!!! If I were to go again, I would do more driving around. Didn't get to do too much of that. For that, I would like to return with just my better half. We had 5 younger ones from 19 to 8 so they, as usual, ruled the roost. If you get an oppertunity, do not hesitate. One would be so lucky to get to stay at the Marina. Just relaxing in the lobby or playing chess on their "chess table" is a vacation by itself. Pools are just fab. as are the numerous hot tubs hidden all over the resort!! Our units 143 and 144, looked out over the the "quiet pool" and Unit 213 where my daughters stayed had a view of the bigger, busier pool with the La Palapa resteraunt. Quiet pool gets the morning sun. My stay was just too short. Any serious questions about the resort, please don't hesitate to e-mail.
