If your going to Cabo for the great fishing and all you need is a convenient room then this is the place to stay. Right on the marina, just get up and walk to your boat or guides for the day. We went under the "All Inclusive" plan, which when your use to those you have certain expectations. I am not one of those unreasonable people, I know there are people who pick a place apart when almost all the other reviews are amazing. I tend to laugh at that one and wonder what those peoples lives are like on a daily basis if they complain about every little thing. In all my travels, 18 countries, lots of all inclusives, some low budget in college, and some higher end for my wedding, and all of those in between, this was my most disappointing property under the all inclusive format I have ever been to.
What we found at Marina Fiesta, was the most minimalist idea of all incusive I have ever seen. They don't have any restaurants on the properties. You have to walk down to the Marina (no problem there), however the few restaurants you are allowed to eat at, you do not get the regular menu and get to order the wonderful things you see being served next to you. All inclusive guests get an extremely minimized menu of just a few selections. Most of the supposedly really good dinner restaurants you need to make reservations at with the concierge. They only have so many resort tables so they are always booked up as they prefer full paying customers. The food that was included usually wasn't great. The best meals we had were the ones that we went to independent restaurants on the Marina or in town. The one thing I would not miss is meeting Captain Jack at Captain Jacks restaurant. The guy is a dead ringer, walks, talks all mannerisms are amazing not to mention he is a salt of the earth type of guy. Will definitely look him up when we are back in town.
On to the concierge, the same guy everyday, looked like he hated his job (I'm used to happy staff at the places I go). He never said hello when you passed him, never offered assistance, you always had to seek him out and wait for him if he happened to be talking to a co-worker or reading something when he was not helping anyone else at all. If you had questions, he was not full of very many answers except for the basics I could get from anyone on the street. The most he ever spoke to me was when I was leaving, I brought all my luggage down while my husband went to get our fish. He wanted to know all my details, room number where I was going, wanted to get a cab. I already had a cab lined up, but he interferred with my plans due to rules etc...and we ended up paying double to get to the airport, talk about a set up. I will definitley rent a car next time.
The pool bar, same thing, there was only one young man that looked like he was happy to be there and enjoyed his job. My first day there, I waited 25 minutes, with no one else at the bar before anyone even acknowledged I was even there(there were 3 people working the bar at that time also). I felt like once they see the all inclusive bracelet, they assume you are not going to tip and just don't care to help you. There was a very nice guy that served drinks at the lobby bar who was great, just wasn't there long enough every day.
That happened several times and that was the only place to get a drink except for when the lobby bar was open in the evening. The bar manager even got onto the pool bartender about helping me and he still didn't serve me very quickly.
Unless I plan on fishing every day all day, I would not stay here again. The best thing about it was the location. Property not very well kept, pool bathrooms always out of order, rooms were average and the timeshare pitch is ridiculous, don't even go, It takes at least 4 hours no matter what they say and they are hard core, do not take no for an answer. Start high, end up low. Pitiful way to try and sell. If I would have been smarter, with so many timeshare offers, in hindsight I would have made a deal with one of them to listen to their pitch if they let me try it out for the remainder of my stay and got out of the Fiesta. Next Time
Side note: RedRum Fishing was outstanding, we brought in the biggest hauls of the day. They sent us to this amazing , beautiful, and romantic out of the way restaurant where they fixed our fresh catch like 7 different ways for next to nothing. They packed the rest and froze it until we left for home. Thanks RedRum
