Diane and I have been spending January's in Cabo San Lucas since 2004. We always stay at the Siesta Suites. If you like an accommodation that is within walking distance to all things downtown and the marina then this place is for you. Alex and Nancy, the owners, are willing to help with transportation and activities and will bend over backwards to assist you. Jaun and his wife (managers) are also pleased to help you with any questions you may have. As it is such a small place, (20) rooms, you actually get to know the housekeeping staff and there is never a worry that anything will go wrong with regards to the security of your belongings. The Siesta Suites has an internet cafe in the lobby, a restaurant co-located in the courtyard and social pool for a quick dip. There is a sundeck with a BBQ up on the second floor which makes it ideal for the fisherman. It is not as quiet, as say the all-inclusive places up the corridor, but you can enjoy a good nights sleep in a place that is comfortable, feels like home and is central to all the best places to eat in CSL.

We spent 10 days in Cabo in January. The last three nights we stayed at Siesta Suites. The hotel is very charming and clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating to our needs. The location is perfect. Just a couple blocks from Cabo Wabo. There is a great Italian restaurant called Salvatore's in the courtyard of the hotel.

I stayed at Siesta Suites about a year ago for 4 nights and was absolutely charmed by it. It has fun and funky decorations and has an atmosphere that is very down to earth and unpretentious.

The owner of the place is very friendly and welcoming and we really appreciated his special guide to Cabo. It listed restaurants off the beaten path for great prices and other locations that were void of the typical tourist traps.

We found that our room was very clean and spacious, one bedroom, bathroom, a couch area and a kitchen with dining area. It completely served our purposes in that we were looking for some place cheap that was safe, clean and away from all the big resorts. Yes the beds are hard but thats Mexico people!

We never ate at the resturaunt but it always smelled soooo good and there were people there every evening. The noise may keep others up at night but as long as you go to bed after 10 it really wouldn't be a problem. I highly recommend you try the Crazy Lobster just up the street, crazy cheap prices for authentic mexican seafood.

As for location there are some major pluses and minuses. We loved that it was off the beaten path, near tons and tons of restaurants and very close to the marina. However if you want to hang out at the main beach most of your time you will find that the walk will grow very tiresome after walking it every day sometimes more than once. Took us about 25+ min each way and we are fit people. Since there was no "real" pool it was a big downside that it took so long to get to the main beach area.

If you are looking for a hotel that has just the basics but lots of charm, Siesta Suites is a wonderful place to stay. We loved that it was off the beaten path, and something different than going to a mega resort.

I reserved one night at the Siesta Suites due to an airline scheduling issue. My experience was less enjoyable than those experiences of most reviewers here.

Issues:
1) Despite booking my reservation online weeks in advance the receptionist could not find my reservation. Fortunately, I brought the confirmation page from hotels.com which resolved the issue.
2) The bed and couch had extremely hard mattresses. The comforter (on the bed) also had several holes in it.

For those looking for a place to stay (particularly if your primary purpose is fishing) in Cabo the location is great and the staff is friendly. However, for reasons I cannot explain, I did not feel comfortable staying at this hotel and I will probably not do so again.

If you do stay here I suggest you try Salvatore's. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is superb and the portions are huge.

Siesta Suites is a little gem right in the middle of town.
I've been staying there for 3 years now and it is so nice to see the same staff each time I get back there.

It is within walking distance to everything and just around the corner from the marina where you can water taxi to all the beaches, plus go fishing.

The rooms are clean and well proportioned. Most of the rooms are little 1 bedroom suites.

The hotel entrance is locked at night with the office being manned 24 hrs a day. Even the graveyard shift person is the same one who's been there for years.

The only thing that would make it better for me would be a washing machine for hotel guests (we usually go for a couple weeks).
