My wife and I just returned from our second trip to Cabo and we stayed at the Siesta Suites again because we simply love the location, value and the extremely helpful and courteous staff.
The hotel is located within short walking distance to many great restaurants, including Mexican, Seafood, Italian, and even a couple American burger restaurants. Not to mention there are plenty of smaller cheap bars around and of course, all the popular big nightclubs are just a few blocks away. There's even a 24 hour taco place nearby for getting a bite to eat after the clubs and bars close down. Salvatores, the restaurant downstairs in the courtyard, is an Italian place which we ate at one night. It was excellent and seems to be packed every night.
Getting to the beach is easy but requires about a 15 minute walk through the marina and past the mall, which can take a while because of all the tourists and street merchants, but there is lots to see including more restaurants, shops, and bars. There is even a big supermarket within about 5 blocks, if you don't want to eat out for every single meal.
Basically, everything is so close by, we never even used a taxi except for the airport.
The room was very spacious and simple but has just about everything you will need, including a full sized refrigerator, microwave, plates, silverware, and glasses. It was very clean and maid service came every day with fresh towels and made up the room for us.
There's a cable TV with a lot of American channels.
The staff was wonderful and helpful with everything we needed, wether it was directions, restaurant advice, or laundry.
Nothing is perfect of course, but perhaps the only drawbacks of this hotel is the four floors and lack of an elevator, but if you tip the kid at the front desk a couple bucks, he will gladly carry every last piece of luggage to your door. The water heaters are also small and that results in fast showers.
There is a fair amount of noise in the evening from the restaurant in the courtyard but it was always closed by the time we were ready go to sleep. There is a big church next door and on Sunday mornings there is a lot of music and choir singing early in the morning that may disturb light sleepers.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning to be out on the town, at the beach, walking around, exploring, shopping, partying, drinking, etc. Spending most of your time outside of the hotel!
If you want to be waited on hand and foot and desire room service, getting your butt kissed, and every amenity at your finger tips, stay at a resort or take a cruise. If you are one of those who want to get out and experience Cabo, and just want a nice, reasonably priced, clean place to sleep and relax at the end of the day, Siesta Suites is perfect for you.
