First of all, I have been a Melia Cabo San Lucas customer for about 15 years now, so I am reviewing this hotel on a before/after kind of thing. I'm sorry but the hotel has changed for the worse! If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful, mexican beachside resort all I can say is you missed it here! The "Me", with its Nikki Beach franchise is an attempt to be like Miami Beach or St. Tropez-which begs the question why? The prices have tripled in the years I have been coming here and the service is a third as good as it was.

If you are looking for a loud, spring break-like, DJ and go-go dancer enhanced euro-techno pop music scene by the body temperature pool this place is for you. Definitely a place for the under 30 crowd so be prepared! The Passion nightclub does play loud, thumping music until 3:30 on weekends and starts up again about 8:00 the following morning.

The rooms are as they were before, clean, well air-conditioned and well furnished with nice views and great beds with egyptian cotton sheets. All the rooms face either the pool or the beach. The restaurants are top notch though expensive-we've always preferred to go into town for fish tacos, lobster, etc..

The resort is right on Medano beach-close to the water sports rentals and beach restaurant/bars and is a short taxi ride or walk to downtown. The Me has an on site small store for essentials and spa as well as beauty parlor and activities concierge.

This was my first visit to Cabo with my best friend and sister for a girlfriend getaway, and we chose Me Cabo based upon the general description and photos when we booked our trip. A week before we left, I had read all the horrible reviews that Me Cabo received and I was worried that I wouldn't have a good experience there. However, all of my worries melted away from the moment I stepped into the hotel!

When we first arrived, we were greeted with champagne and the hotel was just absolutely stunning! David, Jose, Omar, Adrian, and all the other reception staff were sooooo wonderful and sweet, and they did everything to make our stay absolutely wonderful! We also made friends with other staff, such as Alejandro, Flavio (the pool manager), and the Passion bartenders, Israel and Jorge. If you want to know and/or try different and exotic drinks...go to Israel, he is the best bartender ever! I especially loved the rainbow shots he made for us...it's a great bar trick! =) All three of us were on a first name basis with the majority of the staff, and we absolutely loved them all!

The location of the hotel was right on the beach, and if you didn't want to stay too long there, the beautifully landscaped pool was less than 100ft. away and you could use the trendy/relaxing canopies and beds. While on the beach, you have access to the other beach restaurants and bars for some cheaper food and dining, and you can even sign up to do a variety of water activities. Also, ME Cabo is less than a 10-minute walk away from downtown, and I felt completely safe walking downtown at any time, whether we were heading out to the clubs at 11pm or coming home at 4am. And if you still don't feel okay with walking, taxis are always available at a flat rate to downtown for $6.

When I read about the noise complaints and construction problems that other reviewers had written, I was definitely expecting these two things to occur. However, during my stay, I never had a problem with the music from Passion whatsoever. I noticed that there were very few parts of the hotel that were still being rennovated, yet I never encountered any construction going on. When they did have maintenence event occur, the management slipped us a note 24-hours in advance and ensured that it was only temporary...and it was.

I honestly have never had a more wonderful vacation than my recent trip to Cabo, and 99.9% of it was because of my stay at ME Cabo! My friends and I were so sad to leave because we enjoyed the staff and locals' wonderful hospitality. My girlfriends and I have decided to make Cabo an annual trip, and we're definitely going to be staying at ME Cabo every time!

Think Miami Beach! This hotel is good for the young and young and heart. Seems to be popular amongst groups of singles and for bachelor and bachelorette parties. Great location close to everything.

I went with my best friend. She is early fourties I am early thirties. We are young at heart but turn into pumpkins at midnight (although we pushed it to 1-2 am here)

Overall the hotel is very nice and modern but the service is hit or miss. This didn't bother me too much (although it should have for the price we paid) but my best friend is accustomed to staying in Four Seasons, Ritz so she was not impressed with the service here.

Some ladies we met at the ME Cabo pool were staying at the Casa Dorada next door and they said the rooms there were very nice, huge and about half the price of ME Cabo so we might try that next time.

We stayed in an energy suite which was quite nice because you got your own hot tub (almost....one hot tub for every 2 energy suite). Unfortunately there was sand on the floor in the room when we arrived, the fridge was broke, and there was a cockroach in the shower. This was immediately addressed and we were given a discount on our room.

The energy suite did not have an ocean view; it had a view of the pool but it was perfect because it was located towards the end of the building near the beach and pool which means we slept soundly and did not hear any noise from the Passions nightclub. If you don't plan to party the morning away until 5am then you should definitely request a room away from the nightclub. Some people room was so close that you could practically roll out of bed and into the bar area - which might be fine for say a bachelor party but if you actually plan to sleep it would be tough. We met a couple whose room was above the Passions and they complained the noise was so loud all night. They tried to move but the hotel was overbooked so they were stuck.

If you stay in a suite do go to the welcome reception. Free drinks and snacks. We almost skipped it but I'm glad we didn't. The drinks and food were good but the best part is we got to meet some really cool people at the reception who we ended up hanging out with during our stay. Its so easy to meet people here.

During the day there is music playing all the time but its not as bad as some reviewers have described. Actually in the morning the music is pretty mellow. It gets more techno as the day progresses and by 2pm they bring out dancers and drum beaters and the like but if you stay by the kiddie pool or go down to Nikki Beach Club it is not so loud and rowdy. Actually it is only rowdy at the main pool. I know it sounds strange to hang by the kiddie pool but that is what we did. There are hardly any kids at this hotel anyway and the kiddie pool was quieter and less crowded but from your vantage you could still see what was going on at the main pool.

If you plan to lounge at the Nikki Beach Club be sure to grab a spot at the back row away from the ropes. Otherwise you have vendors asking you every 5 seconds if you want to buy sunglasses, or a tshirt, or a bracelet.

A word of advice is to always check your bill and beware of mystery charges for food, beverage, or service - particularly if you are in a large group remember what you ordered. We talked to 3 different groups of guests during our stay who mentioned they had been overcharged - luckily they all caught it.

ME Cabo is more of an experience, so its cool to check it out but once might be enough. Repeat visitors would most likely be those that like to party. For peace and quiet or impeccable service go elsewhere. If you like a bit of entertainment, want to meet different people and have a little fun, and can turn a blind eye to not-so-perfect service then this hotel is fine.

Me Cabo was gorgeous! The view from our room was amazing. Housekeeping was fantastic and a special treat since we were staying in the time share portion of the resort. Whenever we needed anything it was handled right away! The lower pool did get a little rowdier than the upper one, but never anything too crazy. Passions was loud on the weekend, but we turned up the air and shoved in the earplugs. I truly am surprised by all of the negative reviews. My husband and I went to celebebrate our 10 year anniversary and we both thought it was amazing. We didn't eat a whole lot at the hotel. There are so many great beach places to go for much better food at a fraction of the cost. We also ate at Los Palmas several times. GREAT food and very reasonable! Cabo Wabo was a blast too. We did the time share presentation our first day there and got a free great breakfast and 3 excursions for the price of one. Wasted only an hour of our time and was well worth it! The trip was relaxing, fun and romantic. I'd definately go back!
