Overall a great place for younger people and couples. We stayed in mid June and the hotel didn't seem very busy. The location was perfect. Your view of the ocean is excellent. I did notice a light thumping from the music but not enough to interupt my sleep. I thought the staff was nice and the place smelled great. I thought the location was perfect, about a 15 min walk into town.

The only negative I could say would be the erroneous charge on the credit card. It took some patience dealing with the limited english speaking customer service rep but eventually it was cleared up.

I have stayed at ME Cabo/Melia San Lucas 8 times since 2001. Starting way back when it was the great Mexican hotel that did not realize how cool it was. There was a time when I would consider no other hotel when going to cabo. These days I enjoy the hotel somewhat from Sunday-Wednesday, start disliking it more on Thursdays and hate it Friday and Saturday. Some people say it has a "frat boy" pool atmosphere. I would say the weekend is more like international swingers with a heavy dose of Orange County coke/meth partying.

Around the hotel you see the slogan "anything is possible". We amuse ourselves by adding things like "but nothing is probable" or "but not at this hotel". In a given week I will have probably 10 interactions that make me want to spit because of the inherent mexican hotel staff "say no first" mentality. Little things like not being able to get a pool bed because they are all reserved, or not being able to get late check-out or early check in. Not being able to get a king size bed for my wife and I after reserving one. And unless you own a time-share, don't you dare try to bring a case of beer up to your room. Outside food and beer not allowed, even though your room may have cost you $400+ per night. They seem to not understand that branding means following through, not just telling people what they want to hear. And it's not like I don't know how to spend money or tip. I don't care what something costs me, I just want value for my money. I find myself continually reminding the staff that "anything is possible" after they have rejected some small request of mine. They just smile politely. It's not their fault, they simply aren't empowered to make it happen for you.
The real estate Melia sits on must be experienced to be understood. The layout is real easy and comfortable with no long walks required. The pool bar is probably one of the single best places in the world. But it's time for me to look for other options or stop going to Cabo.

  • Liked — Pool Bar
  • Disliked — Perpetual denial of request and low value to cost ratio

If you're looking for any amount of luxury, don't look at ME Cabo. The website is one lie after another. It is obvious when you walk in the lobby that this is far from a luxury resort. This is a frat party for 23 year olds and nothing more. I would not eat at the restaraunts, did not enjoy the pool and hated the staff.
The reviews that complain about the noise are completely accurate - SLEEP IS AN IMPOSSIBILITY. We opted to stay on our friends sofa bed 4 nights in a row rather than sleep in our small bed at the hotel. And good luck complaining about the noise, the staff is nowhere near receptive.

We knew we were in trouble when we arrived in our room to find intimacy kits and kama sutra cards for sale along with the lame mini bar selections in our room. Our room did not have one drawer or shelf to unpack our bags into and we had a short in the light in our shower.

If you are 23, looking for an all night jam session and willing to compromise quality in all aspects of your stay - check out ME Cabo. Otherwise, you might want to check out one of the mainstream hotels like Hilton, Westin, etc.

Dear Mr. /Ms.

At ME Cabo Hotel our aim is to exceed the expectations of our guests, and we deeply regret when we do not fully achieve this.

With great concern I have received the report about your experience in our hotel. I would like to apologize for this unusual shortcoming. I have personally followed up on these issues, to make sure that incidents like these will not occur again in the future.

I hope that you stay at our Hotel on your next visit to Cabo. We would like to demonstrate that this Hotel is usually delivering the service that is expected from a Sol Melia Hotel.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Ernesto Luna

Time for someone to re-do the ME Cabo website. This hotel was recommended as an upscale, relaxing spot. The website seemed to back it up, so we went with it.

The music is loud and is playing most hours of the day. It starts w/ music at the pool around noon, getting increasingly louder, switching at some point to Passion, the nightclub. There's about a two to three hour window in the morning when you can be at the pool/beach and relax, but you have to be up early. That's tough to do, given that you're not likely to get more than two to three hours of sleep on any given night.

And I don't think it matters where in the hotel your room is. Everything seems to open up toward the center of the hotel, where the club is located.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anything other than a college spring break or a bachelor party. It definitely was not as advertised.

so where to start....the atmosphere was maybe the only thng that sold...

upon our arrival we encountered plumbing problems in the hotel which resulted in strong smell of sewage coming from toilet in our room. changed rooms.
as moved to another room found black hair on the wall of the bathroom ,which weren't cleaned during two days even after specifically asking to clean them from the front desk

day after there was a water supply problems to the room
one night water stopped working for an hour catching me in the shower with shampoo on my hair
another night hot water was very sporadic

the cleanliness of sheets was poor as on the check in two the first room there were two yellow stains on them of a visible size, another time the sheets had a hole.

During one of the days the screen door to the balcony just fell out of the railings in front of us as a consequence of slightly increased wind- actualy it is good that we've been in the room, otherwise it would land on somebody in the pool.

last day (check out) we reserved spa massages at 9am, so we can relax before the flight and to leave the hotel in a peaceful feeling, but eventually the requested wake up call from "everything is possible" service at 8:15 am never rang so we didn't make it to the spa and the only thing we could do withing our time framework was 25 min for only one person, which was disaponting and not really satisfactoryp- massage was horrilble.

regarding the drink service of the hotel, i'm trying to figure out how people acualy get drunk there...it is simply squizzing money from the people. no alcoholic cocktail actually contained satisfactory amount of alcohol .The drinks felt like a fruit shakes( and i'm not a person who looks forward to get drunk, but in this case i would order an orange juice avoiding paying 11 dollars for supposed to be alcoholic cocktail). A lot of other people that we met there reacted the same

the pool seats/beds were an issue to get ,due to kind of "corupted" stuff service. some seats were paid off by the visitors to the staff members. One time we were literally kicked out of our seats, because of the "shooting" that supposed to take place there-no shooting happened, but few guys were hanging out there 15 min later handling 100$ to the waiter.

any attempts of complaint weren't really ready to be resolved by the staff, at times staff members were even rude , or make you feel that you are the one who is the problem but not they are.

simply overpriced . they mostly care to get as much money from you not returning back the appropriate service for the 400$ a night that are paid them. You will be disapointed.
