My wife and I left the kids behind for a four day relaxation trip to Cabo. The ME is a terrific hotel for couples looking for a hip scene in Cabo. The Nikki Beach pool area caters to those looking to chill the day away on canopy covered beds. Views are magnificent, food is so-so, drinks are standard Cabo fare.

Rooms are spacious, and the beds are comfy. The staff was always courteous and never in your face. They don't allow outside food, so you can't go to Costco to load up. And there is no stove in the rooms.

If you want a massage, make sure you specify that you want it poolside. The "spa" is nothing more than a musty room on the second floor.

Overall, a great place to stay in the Medano Beach area.

Melia usually is a top brand of Hotels. This all inclusive resort, with a relative good location. You can take a free bus to downtown.

The design is good, rooms are clean and safe.

Restaurants cook nice dishes, is small portions. It worth it, but there are better hotels in the area.

This is advisable when you need to make an all inclusive trip, without expending a lot, and with a good hotel.

The hotel is very familiar, if you are traveling in a honey moon or a romantic gateway I recomend you for Los Cabos to look as a good option the Westin Hotel.

  • Liked — Room confort
  • Disliked — Long walk to arrive to the room, far from downtown

I have been to Cabo many times staying at the nicest places and have always had great service but the ME has absolutely the Worst service imaginable. The management staff are extremely arrogant and simply try to appease you.
One of the nights we were there the ME management worldwide was having a celebration party and closed the pool are and access to the beach for 6 hours! Can you imagine being kicked out of the most important part of your hotel for 6 hours! We tried in vain talking with the conceirge but with no luck. Guests had to exit the front of the hotel and walk down the street and then down an alley way to get to the beach. And if you were on the beach returning to the hotel they wouldn't let you into the beach access pool area.
Also, they play techo music until 1 am so if you happen to be near their "Passion Club" don't expect to sleep until 1 am.
The nicest part about the hotel is the views and location.

My best friend and I decided to take a girls vacation to Cabo. The ME was the first hotel we looked into, and the only one not catering to honeymooners or children. This place is beautiful! In fact beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. From the lobby to the room to the poolside cabanas, we were in awe.

Like you I read the reviews of previous travelers and had my share of fears about the ME. Unless you sleep with the door open to your terrace the noise was never an issue. We had no problems getting a spot on one of the beds by the pool. Of course we were up a little earlier than most since we were on east coast time. We even had a "celebrity" sighting...Tara Reid was sitting 2 beds over from us.

The food at the hotel was delish...i highly recommend the steak sandwich. And the hotel was in walking distance to great beachfront restaurants (The Office) or a short cab ride into town ($6) for dinner and the bars (Giggling Marlin).

I would definitely stay here on my next trip to Cabo, which I'm already planning for 2008!

Firstly - call the hotel - I got a better rate on the phone than their website or any travel website.

The good - location - perfect. Beautiful views. Great size - not too big or small. Nice design. Very clean. Perfect pool and beach. Great food at Nikki Beach.

The bad - the level - WHAT LEVEL? Lovely friendly staff but just useless. Do any of them know what a concierge should do? It would have been far less hassle to organise trips ourselves (which is what we ultimately did). They couldn't even organise a fishing trip in the fishing capital of baja california! I'm not sure what you are paying for in the level - the ipod set had the worst sound ever - and no ipod. The level lounge was empty the whole time apart from a blaring tv. The concierges were there 50% of the time. It is purely bad management - these kids haven't been trained properly. As for the free breakfast - its a joke. I have the smallest appetite of anyone I know so when I read how small it was I figured it was just people expecting american size portions but i was wrong. My breakfast was supposed to be a croissant and fruit. Now I live in France so I know what a croissant looks like! I swear I have never seen such a small one in my life. 2 bites and it was gone. No butter, no jam, just this itsy bitsy tiny croissant on a big plate. It was laughable. Nikki Beach was closed for 2 days when we were there which was frustrating if you wanted lunch by the pool - the other restaurant 'the deck' isn't half as good as Nikki beach.
The music is loud at night - but it didn't keep me awake and lets face it - I had been warned. Worse is the one inch gap under the door so that you can hear everything anyone outside your room is saying as if they are standing next to you. The rooms are small and made worse by lack of storage so you tend to live out of suitcases - every bit of counter space is blocked with stupid minibar overpriced gadgets and cocktails and stuff. The room spray gets a bit overpowering in the rooms and the elevators - nice touch but slightly overdone. They are obviously used to complaints - we got 2 free meals without really complaining that much - its almost like that is the standard thing - as soon as someone starts complaining - offer them a free meal!

In summary - this place could have it all but the staff need some serious training for me to feel that it warrants the prices it is charging.
