I've been going to mar de cortez for many years. it's always been a very pleasant place to stay. It's just to bad that all things have to come to an end. My last visit I was robbed, all I can say is watch yourself where you go and and stay away from the bad people that has somehow taken over Cabo.please don't let this discourage you from going to Mar De Cortez, the place has always been a wonderful place to go...........

We really enjoyed the Mar De Cortez. Excellent value and location. Right in the middle of town and close to everything. We didn't spend much time in the room. We have been going to Cabo every year for about 13 years and have stayed in the 5 star resorts and rented houses in the Pedregal, but you spend 3 times the amount of the Mar De Cortez or more.

No phones! No internet! No television! Perfect! My three college buddies and I came down from Texas and had a great time at Mar de Cortez. It's right in the heart of it all. It's literally steps away from Cabo Wabo and is not far from anything! There's an internet cafe across the street and great LOCAL Mexican food around the corner.

The staff are all so nice and family-like. We rented a fridge for our stay and it was worth the tiny charge to have that in our room. The pool area is really very nice. There's a shallow pool and a deeper pool which is really very interesting. The restaurant at the hotel is called Spencer's and has a great breakfast special that's an excellent value IF you stick to the breakfast special and don't order other menu items! We learned that quickly... It was great for those tired mornings where we didn't have the energy to go out for breakfast elsewhere.

Overall, the place is great if you're not into the hotel you're staying at being the center of your stay. It's not a place where they're going to be waiting on you hand and foot. They'll give you towels if you need them, have great housekeeping, and the grounds are impeccably clean. The staff were just so friendly and nice. I cannot bring that point home enough. When we checked out, I practically wanted to hug the front desk clerk! Everyone was just so sweet! And for the money you pay, it's amazing to get such great service. If you're wanting a resort, look elsewhere. This is an old world inn!

I'd recommend Mar de Cortez to anyone...people on a budget...people not on a budget...anyone!

In October, it will be our sixth time staying at Mar de Cortez and we have not been disappointed once. The hotel is awesome .... it is clean, cheap, no televisions, phones, has a great pool, a nice bar ... what more could you ask for!! The hotel staff is wonderful and are very cordial and hospitable. We have stayed in a couple of the 5 star hotels in Cabo and would much rather stay at "The Mar". Paying only $50 a night, gives us more spending money for TEQUILLA!!!
