To much of our dismay, we were suppose to go to Cancun but Hurricane Wilma wouldn't let us so we switched from Cancun to Cabo San Lucas. In our group, there were 8 couples and we stayed at the Costa Real from October 26th to November 1st. We were greeted with drinks while we were checking in. We did have some check-in problems with the rooms but they were resolved in a fair amount of time. Even some people in our group moved to a different room the next day. Rooms were large but a little outdated except 1 couple got a remodeled room (which they are in the process of remodeling the whole place). The best part of the vacation was our group basically had the whole place to ourselves because of the Bissby's Fishing Tournament. Most of the people staying left early in the morning on their beautiful yachts that were docked in the Marina outside our hotel (which we could view from our balconies). The location is convenient and doesn't require a taxi cab because you can walk to any restaurant, do shopping or enjoy the nightlife instead of staying in your hotel. The Mambo Cafe next door to the Costa Real was a lot fun watching the Salsa dancing. Cabo Wabo is a must see - even though we missed Sammy Hagar by 1 night. The Sports and Entertainment team at the Costa Real were a lot of fun - we became friends with Chuey, Sunja, Ricardo, Artiuro and the rest of gang. The entertainment at the pool everyday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm was fun (aerobics, spanish lessions, tequilla volleyball, jenga, braclet making, dancing lessons, etc. They made sure we had a great time and if you did not want to participate they left you alone. We enjoyed watching them entertain us at dinner in the evening time. The drinks were strong except we didn't care for the up charge for premium liquors (jack daniels, malibum rum, seagrams etc.) and no Anheuser-Busch products available!! Always had diet coke and water available for you at the bars and in your fridge in the room. Food - breakfast was good, lunch was adequate and supper at the buffet was a lot to be desired except for a few nights. Dinner at Maria's was decent except for the up charge for Lobster - $15.00, Steak and Coconut Shrimp - $10.00 - the service was good and the Mexican coffee was alot of fun! Some of the downfalls are long walks to the elevators (which 12 of us got stuck in for about 10 minutes) no wash cloths, had to call for an iron and ironing board every night but never received one the whole trip, being bothered by the time share people on arrival of the hotel. Another downfall was the water taxi ride to the beach - they more or less just dumped you off in the sand and water and people from the beach would come to help but then expect tips! All in all we had a great time for our first trip to Cabo. We would definately stay at the Costa Real again but not do the all inclusive.

We just returned from 8 nights in Los Cabos. The first 4 nights at the Costa Real (all-inclusive), followed by 4 nights at a luxury resort in the corridor for a work-related conference. I cannot compliment the staff at the Costa Real enough for the most pleasurable stay we have ever experienced. The beds were comfortable and not nearly as hard as other hotels in Mexico and although we experienced some construction noise it was only during working hours when we were out enjoying the area. Our room had a beautiful view of the pool area and the marina. We were given a room with 2 single beds for 3 people, but the front desk quickly responded to our request for an additional bed. The hotel is located very convenient to downtown and the marina. The Lobby Bar, Pool Bar and Swim-Up bar were staffed with very nice excellent personnel. The drinks were as strong as we requested, never watered down. The food was delicious at all the restaurants. Maria’s has fine dining, bewarned, no t-shirts or sandals allowed. By far, the best part of our stay was the activities staff. Our first night was after Hurricane Otis had just departed, they had a party to watch the World Cup Junior Soccer Championship in which Mexico won! The streets were alive with flags and honking cars. The activities staff filled the rest of the days with pool activites from water polo, volleyball, and contests of many kinds. Always with tons of fun and laughter. They brought the guests together to bond as a family and several nights we had a great time as a group downtown. Once we arrived at our quiet corridor resort, although we sat in beautiful luxury surroundings, we so missed the fun people at the Costa Real that we taxied back when we could to spend more time with our “family”. We can’t wait to return.

Just got back and stayed at this hotel the front desk can give a slight wait until they find your reservation, but the short inconvinence was worth while. The room was average but the size was superb, had the deluxe suite with balcony, Marina & pool view and king sized bed. You also have to ask for a room close to the elevator like I did after reading the reviews on here I knew what to expect. I can't complain for the Price and the Location it was Great and served it's purpose. Besides who stays in the room much on vacation anyway??

We arrived at Costa Real a wee bit apprehensive due to many bad reviews. Were given a room with a marina view per our request and took the long walk to our new digs. Our room didn't have air conditioning, which we did not realize until returning home at 2 AM. The front desk was very helpful and immediately moved us to a very cold room with an even better view. The hike to the elevator was long but we found a sneaky back door out so we didn't care. Besides - who goes to Mexico and spends the day in their room? We left in the wee am and came back to nap, shower and go out for the evening. We found the beds comfy, contrary to popular opinion, the pool perfect for afternoon sunning with margaritas, and the view, again, SPECTACULAR! The location could not be beat for bar-hopping, and we found all our favorite restaurants well within drunk/full distance. I would not hesitate to return to Costa Real - everyone enjoy your vacations!!!

Go to this place with the lowest expectations and you may not be disappointed.

From the minute we got there, the front desk personnel tried to make our stay miserable. They claimed we didn't have a reservation, we did. They claimed we didn't reserve a king size bed, we did. They claimed we were not all inclusive, we were. This may be a way to find out how far they have to go to cheat you. When we showed them a copy of our reservations (king sized bed and all inclusive), they acted confused and, after a half hour, managed to find a room with a king sized bed, about a half mile from the one elevator in this hotel. The room had a great view, however, I don't think the A/C ever got the room below 85 degrees.

The food was average, but most of the bar and wait staff tried hard to please.

Because of the way we were treated by the front desk, and the poor condition of the room, we won't be going back to Costa Real.
