Just got back from a long weekend at the Cabo Costa Real, and had an absolute blast! Booked a great deal on United Vacations, added on the junior suite and all-inclusive package. If you like to drink, going all-inclusive is definitely the way to go. Nothing quite like a swim-up bar. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff very friendly. As the other reviews stated, the beds are indeed hard but the maids will bring up a pad if you ask. Nothing special about the rooms, but we weren't in there for much time anyway. The food in the buffet was decent, breakfast being the best meal. They also have a nicer restaurant that is only open for dinner, had excellent coconut shrimp one night and lobster another(an additional $12 was added for the lobster). The location on the marina is perfect, the best feature of the hotel. It was very easy to hop on the free water taxi to the beach. Once at the beach, I was pleasantly suprised to learn that our wristbands worked there as well for the free drinks and snacks(chips, salsa, quesadillas). Only major con is the renovation, just be sure to ask for a room as far from it as possible as the jack hammering starts around 8am. Overall a wonderful trip, I would recommend this hotel to families and singles alike.

Just got back from a week staying at the Costa Real, and like others have said, you just can't beat the location. Easy 5 minute walk to pretty much every bar and restaurant in town, free water shuttle to Medano Beach, and you don't have to take taxis anywhere unless you want to venture out of town.

The service was fine, nothing special but we had no problems getting food or drinks.

The food at the buffets was hit and miss. If you aren't going with the all-inclusive, don't bother with the buffet, definitely not worth the $16 price tag. If you're going with the AI then it's fine for an omelet or something, but don't expect a Vegas style buffet. The nice restaurant was much better. They said you needed reservations but we didn't bother and had no problem getting seated even with 5 people on a Friday night.

The room we had was tiny, the Jr. Suite a group of girls we met had was much bigger, so I'd suggest going with the suite if you're planning on spending time in your room. Yes the beds are hard, it's Mexico, what are you going to do?

There was construction going on, and that got annoying on days you wanted to sleep in a bit, but again from my experience in Mexico, something is always under construction.

So all-in-all, if you are looking for a nice romantic get-away, the Costa Real isn't it. If you are looking for a decent, centrally located place to party in Cabo, this is your place.

i will attempt to be nice as i can with my description the staff was very nice and accomodating but everyday we were awaken by sounds of drilling noise, hammering and banging due to the fact that they are in the process of renovating the hotel which it does need a facelift but guest should be advised that they will be rcvg a construction alarm or get a discount for the inconvience the water pressure is low most of the time which showers are impossible to take and being in a climate of min 100 degrees or more bathing is a neccessity suggestion get up at 5am to shower or else out of luck till after 1pm. and i have never been in a room without a clock or one picture on the wall. now luckily tequilla is the drink of the island cause when you lay on the beds you want to not know you are there they make you feel as though you are on lock down in a prison the beds feel like concrete slabs to say the least BUT they do provide nice goose down feather pillows. I can say that squid roe is the place to party so definetly go there. and last but not least beware of timeshare crooks they will nab you from corner 2 corner and even in the hotel lobby they ALL have game.
The hotel is located in the best location for for convience it is the best place to stay you are in the heart of downtown easy access to everything

I was at the Costa Real Cabo Resort and Suites from June 20th thru June 25th 2005. This was my 5th trip to Cabo and the only one with a bad experience.
I had booked my reservation 4 months in advance and had requested a view of the marina and I had explained that I was taking my Mother to Cabo for her "85th" Birthday. This was her first time there and I wanted it to be a memorable experience.
Upon checking we were greeted by a woman behind the desk who had a bad attitude, no one explained anything about the hotel welcome package we were to get, and then passed on to the "welcome desk". I don't know how many times you need to say "I am not interested in a TIME SHARE presentation!" Those women were nice but when I inquired about two specific restaurants to make reservations I was lied to and told they were closed and tried to refer us elsewhere. Guess what, I walked across the street and a local said no way they are open...just walk to the end of this street.
Let's get to the room adventure. Walking to our room we were greeted with extremely loud drilling, they were doing remodeling. We were taken to an end unit with a lovely view of a pile of dirt overlooking a gravel parking lot, along with a large plastic tube with gravel being dropped down it into a dumpster. I went down to the desk and complained about the noise (which by the way started at 9:00 AM until 6:00 or 8:00 PM) and lack of view. I asked for my room to be changed for what I had paid for well in advance and was told sorry there aren't any rooms, that is all we have for you. Nothing to say we are sorry for the inconvenience.
We ordered a basket of rolls and hot tea in the morning and were given a basket of four stale rolls, no butter, no jelly, no napkins, no silverware.
The room was semi cleaned, the floor was always full of dirt filtering out of the ceiling due to the drilling, so our bed was always full of dirt each evening.
Will I ever stay there again..............NEVER.

June 9-12, 2005. Upon arriving at the hotel I asked for an upgrade to the marina side and was given the upgrade. The view was spectacular. We had all inclusive and the food and drinks were great. Everyone from the front desk to the maid service were very friendly and helpful. We could not have picked a better place. The negative reviews I had read were the beds were hard so I took my own egg crate mattress cover, but they had already put one on our bed. The room we had was small, but it had a great balcony. The rooms were very clean. I vacation in various parts of Mexico at least four times a year and I would have to say that the quality of service and cleanliness was outstanding. Everything is in walking distance. You are shuttled over to a beach area, but then again, the marina view at 6:00 a.m. is well worth the beach shuttle. We also took the ATV tour and had a blast, almost went back the next day. Give this hotel a try, it is well worth the money and the wonderful employees.
