October 2004: The hotel is doing a lot of work on the 2nd floor around the pool area. It was really loud when we were trying to relax at the pool or eating at the 2nd floor open-air restaurant.
We could hear the jackhammers and other equipment from our room, which was on the 5th floor overlooking the pool. We also heard the pool bingo games and the music played at the pool from our room. By the way, it is true that the beds are extra firm. In my opinion they are uncomfortably firm and I did not sleep well (and I usually sleep like a rock).
The pool is fine. There is only one pool. A volleyball net is installed all of the time. One of the afternoon activities is tequilla volleyball, where the players pass around a bottle as they are playing.
The pool does have a shallow area for children. Hope your kids are young enough that you don't have to explain what is in the bottle. There is one jacuzzi.
Rooms are small, but adequate and clean. The staff is extra friendly. We tipped well and got excellent service.
All-inclusive is great in Cabo because everything in Cabo is so expensive. Food at the 2nd floor open-air restaurant was average to below average. Breakfast bar has made to order omelets, which are great. Freshly made waffles are great too. Stuff sitting out on the buffet is just average. The first floor restaurant was good to excellent, depending on what you ordered.
Location of the hotel is excellent. You do not need a rental car and you don't have to pay high taxi fees to go out in Cabo.
If you can get a great rate and you are not looking for luxury then this place is fine. If you like to be pampered or you do not like firm beds then you may want to try someplace else.
