We had a highly enjoyable stay at this hotel. The guest rooms have been completely renovated and are very comfortable. Yes, the beds are firm but it's a quality bed with quality pillows, slept very well!! Spacious tiled bathrooms with large showers. The views are awesome onto either the marina or city. The staff is eager to serve and ensure you are well taken care of; the activities team added a fun and festive atmosphere. The buffets are generous and fresh. And there is a 24/7 area for round the clock beer, water, sandwiches, nachos, hotdogs, pizza in the afternoon/evening and more breakfast-y foods in the AM. They also have a 'fine dining' restaurant, Aguave.

I really preferred being in the city center which eliminated expensive taxi rides - all the shops, restaurants and clubs are right out the front door. There's some renovation happening to the public space but it was well managed and did not interfere with our stay. I will go back!!!

  • Liked — city center location, completely renovated guest rooms
  • Disliked — public space still in renovation but will be amazing when complete

We stayed at the Tesoro for 7 nights at the end of January. I was nervous because of some of the terrible reviews. I was very happy when we arrived, check in was easy, got a room a few doors down from our friends. The room was remodeled, had a balcony overlooking the marina. The maid service was excellent, they cleaned daily, turned our sheets back at night, put chocolates on our pillows, we always had clean towels, and a stocked refrig ( we left 1-2 dollars a day on the pillow for the maids). Food was good, always something different every day, french toast and pancakes made special. The Agave Azul had excellent food and cooked the fish that we had caught that day. Pool was a little old, but it did the trick of cooling us off in the sun. Pool bar and staff were fun, (beer was not warm as told in other reviews). Drinks were made to order, as strong or weak as you like. Water taxi to beach was easy to find, beach was nice, drinks and food brought to you. Vendors were a little annoying but got the hint easily and left us alone. The location of the hotel is the best. Easy access to marina, fishing, beach, boardwalk and able to walk around town without needing a taxi.
As three women in our 40's we never felt uncomfortable anywhere in town, on the marina or in the hotel. Octavio at the pool bar was fun, and Jessica and Charlie are very motivated to help people have fun around the pool, if you aren't interested they leave you alone. We plan on returning in the future.

  • Liked — The location of the hotel is the bes
  • Disliked — pool liner was old

I just returned from two weeks at Tesoro. It's on the marina and a walk to all the famous bars. Great location. I'm a single female and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was impressed. I normally like to stay on the beach but there is a water taxi that goes to El Medano Beach, the only swimmable beach in the area, every hour...so you have the choice to go to the beach or stay at the pool.

Yes, the all-inclusive has breakfast, lunch, and supper buffets but you can order fresh items off the grill, no problem. However, they also have a high-class restaurant, Agave Azul, which is spectacular and well worth frequenting. You need reservations and they are only open at supper time. Lobster is $22 extra while steak and shrimp is another $18. It's the best lobster I ever tasted. Also, their after-
dinner coffees are made in front of your eyes and that, in itself, is a spectacular thing to see. Or because the place is such a good value price-wise, you can afford to eat anywhere else you choose.

It was fairly quiet when I was there, which I like. The actiivities team at the pool became active the second week I was there, scheduling stretching, aquatic aerobics, pool volleyball, basketball, table tennis, dance lessons, bingo, etc. during the day. The team was very friendly, courteous, and very helpful. The pool bartenders and the lobby bar bartenders also went out of their way to please.

Check-in was tedious but check-out was a breeze.

If I had to complain about anything, it would be the loud music from Mambo Cafe playing till 4 am but my room happened to be just above it.

As far as walking goes, I've been to many resorts, and you should expect some walking. Some of these resorts are huge and span a large area. If you have difficulty walking, make arrangements in advance because everything is wheelchair or scooter accessible. This should not be a problem other than getting into a water taxi to go to the beach.

I would love to go back to this place again as it was the best deal at the time I booked and that was where I wanted to be anyway. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

  • Liked — comfortable bed and lots of pillows

Got an email promoting special rates and decided to escape the cold...got to cabo and planned to do nothing but sit in the sun - was pleasantly surprised by how great the hotel room looked, was told they had just finished renovations - and loved the hammock on the balcony. Staff was friendly and always smiling. As a bonus - the location can't be beat - while not on the beach - I did take a boat to a beach and didn't have to pay for cab fare to the bars at night.

Don't believe any other reviews that gives Tesoro more than a 1 star. Those ppl are obviously relatives or employees of Tesoro. This place is dirty, nasty, garbage, and every non-flattering word in the dictionary.
