My experience at this "resort" was okay...however, I would not recommend staying there.
We arrived on a Sunday, which was great...except for the fact that 200 parties had checked in on Saturday...so unfortunately, our choice of room was very limited. Once we arrived in our room we were immediately disappointed. It felt sterile, uninviting, boring, dark and incredibly humid. The humidity was due to the fact that our air conditioner did not appear to be working. To keep a long story short...by the next mid-morning the air conditioning was working..after a visit to the front desk and a couple of maintenance guys in our room for an hour. The air conditioning in the lobby of the resort is non-existent however. It is very humid and uncomfortable.
The restaurant near the pool was decent for dinner....a bit expensive compared to "decent" meals in town. The salad...with the tomato dressing is terrible however. I recommend ordering the chicken or pizzas. Keep in mind when dining at this resort or ordering drinks that the service is incredibly slow....so prepare yourself for a long meal/trip to the bar. We also ate at that restaurant for breakfast...the food is good, I recommend the chilaquilles or mexican eggs...the buffet is way over priced at $19 for breakfast???? I mean really...eggs and salsa? $19???
The pools at this resort are loud and extremely crowded...but I can't say much more than that as we actually spent all of our pool time at the La Estancia resort next door (we had friends staying there)
The room that we had was loud. You can hear every foot step, every drunk person in the hallway, every piece of furniture moving, every toilet flush....you get the idea.
Additionally, if you are needing a taxi...I recommend walking the short distance to La Estancia and getting one there. Typically there were lines at the Del Palmar.
We managed to get out of the time share presentation....only by going to the La Estancia presentation on full and fractional ownership...which is basically just lunch with a real estate agent...who didn't pressure us at all. We got all of the same things they offer to the time share presentation goers....the gold card...the 3 activities, etc.....
The deli at this resort is really great actually....the ceasar salad and sandwiches are very good and not terribly priced with the gold card discount. I recommend going there for a quick bite to eat. The store has everything you can imagine and keep in mind that if you are a Costco member you save 25%.
Overall....I didn't care for the Del Palmar. When I go back to Cabo...I will either stay at the La Estancia next door...or will take my chances somewhere else....and honestly, I'm really not a picky person when it comes to hotels, etc...but this place just really disappointed me.
