I didn't book this hotel, my Step-Mom did. She found the hotel through the Cabo Wabo site. I guess Sammy Haggar gets a cut for everyone he sends there.
I'm grateful for the free trip. However, it did cost my Dad & her over $2 grand for a 5 day stay for just me and my husband in a 1 bedroom suite, not including all the eating out and activites we did through out the week. There was a total of 6 of us in our group. My Dad, Step-Mom and thier 2 friends stayed in a 2 bedroom suite, that looked just like our suite. The total for the 5 days at the hotel was around $15 grand.
We ate at the Baja California restuarant 2 times, ordered to our room 2 times and booked the ATV tour through the hotel.
The employees at the restuarant & bar where very nice but very slow. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the staff to acknowledge you, even when there is no more than 2 other tables. Room services was always cold, the coffee pot was broken one morning so we had to use a knife to pry open the top inorder to get the coffee out. Oh, let me let you in on this, you don't get silverware or coffee cups when you order room service. All the rooms have kitchenettes in them with cookware and dishware, and you are responsible for cleaning your own dishes, maidservice won't do it. So if you order roomservices you will have to wash your own silverware and glasses or cups.
From the time we arrived they wanted to give us a welcome package. Don't fall for this, it is a time share gimmick. My Dad & Step-Mom fell for it and wasted 4 hours of their first day. The timeshare lady kept asking what they didn't like about Cabo and my Dad finally said he didn't know because he has spent more time in the timeshare sales room than in actual Cabo. All they got for thier time was a $7 per person glass bottom boat tour.
It was very nice and quite for the first 2 days, then a family of over 200 came in. Now for the family that was all kosher jewish, I'm sure that they were very happy. The hotel completely accomidated them. They even shut down one of the 2 restuarants for them, so thier food could stay completely kosher. However for us that meant that no matter if it rained or not we had to use the outside restuarant . One night the electricity went out, along with the water pump, so we could take a shower after along day of fishing. Our choices came down to room service or eating at the out side restaurant in the rain. Since the food was always cold when it came from room service and we couldn't go into town for dinner, because we couldn't take a showeer to get the fish smell off, we ate at the out door restuarant. My steak was good, but my husbands fish wasn't cooked all the way. It didn't rain, but it did sprinkle off and on, and it was cold. They also cancelled all normal scheduled activites because of the family as well. The staff was needed to attend to them.
This is not a hotel for people who are not into lots of kids running around unattended, up and down the halls, or want to relax by the pool. The pool was all screaming children, with speakers blarring loud dance music and a guy yelling over the music trying to conduct activites for the large family.
I will say that the room was comfortable, so was the bed, and the water was filtered so you could actually drink the water from the faucet. However, the room was very dark no matter what time of day and how many lights you had on and the couch was horrible uncomfortable. Do not use the grocery store that is on property! $4.80 for a travel size toothpaste and deorderent and $24 for sunblock, yes I said $24.
