This was the worst vacation I've ever had. We did a timeshare exchange and have been in Mexico twice before and enjoyed those places thoroughly (Royal Islander at Cancun & Sheraton Resort in Puerta Vallarta). Of ocurse some of it relates to our coming in August - extremely hot & humid, and flying from NY - torturously long trip (20 hr-day return trip). BUT... there is a long laundry list of other stuff. Several cases of being given wrong information by staff and by UVC (Universal Vacation Club - through whom we bought the all-inclusive pkg) . Time-share vultures masquerade as 'concierge staff'' and are on you all the time. The on-site activities include loud bingo games at poolside that you cannot escape from unless you leave the resort. Loud, endless Mexican music blaring all day long and into the evening. I tried to escape by going to my unit but had to cover both ears with pillows to take a nap. I felt like leaving the 2nd day we were there but hoped it would get better. It got worse. The food in the on-site restaurants is just fair and gets boring after a few days with same basic menus. The food prices on the menus is expensive. We bought the meal pkg for 6 days and it was expensive as well (over $1,000). But the alternative - which I could not evaluate well from home before making a decision - would have been a blind alley including renting a car to shop and eat elswhere sometimes, REQUIRED PUTTING 10% of the car's value on my credit card IN CASE IT WAS STOLEN. A local paper called The Gringo Gazzette had a 'satirical' article stating that San Jose, an adjacent town - is the stolen car capital of Baja. So many other people I met there had absurd/enraging experiences with being misled. One staff guy at a poolside kiosk where I was buying sunset cruise tkts to accompany people we met there, threatened to cancel my reservation AND my friends' if I did not come back from my room to pay him immediately. My friends had already purchased there tkts! AND they were told the cruise included a buffet. They told me next day there WAS NO BUFFET! It goes on and on. One woman I met there got tkts for a glass bottom boat-ride with her family. They were told they could baord any boat that comes by the beach. They did and once aboard, and presented the tkts, were told it was no good on this boat. She was so stressed she sprained her ankle getting off the boat and was handicapped and in pain for the rest of her family's vacation. Two days before we left I had $200 stolen from my wallet. My best analysis is that it was taken from my locked locker while I was getting a massage at Desert Spa, an on-site massage place there. I won't go into detail here about whay I suspect this but - obviously - whoever the thief was - it was quite upsetting. I would not go back there if they paid me to. Just punishment.

Dear guest :

A am really sorry that it took you a long time to get to Los Cabos, normally a flight through Dallas then Los Cabos, It is a 5 ½ hrs. flight, add an extra hr. at Dallas airport, it will take a total of 6 ½ hrs. Not bad by crossing the continent from the Atlantic to the Pacific. There are many airlines choices.

Also I do notice that most of your comments are related to activities outside the hotel, however, I will send your comments to the proper local authorities.

In regards to our menus, We do have a total of 6 restaurants and Bar to choose from and they do have dishes suitable for all type of guest´s budgets.

I do appreciate your comments and We will work on some of the issues you mentioned.

Thank you

After reading horror stories about the Villas del Palmar, I was kind of scared of what we will encounter upon our arrival.

Once we arrived at Villas del Palmar at 2pm, to my surprise our room was ready. We had an ocean view room upgrade for no extra fee, and our room smelled and looked clean and everything was in its place.

We didn't participate with the all inclusive because it was ridiculously overpriced.

Of course we were bombarded with time sharing sharks along the way but we just participated with one time sharing so we can get our discounts and freebies. The weather was excellent, the staff were very courteous and they all went above and beyond their call of duty to make our stay spectacular.

We went to Walmart to get our beers, water and snacks. That saved us some extra money to spend out in the town for dinner.

The walk to town took 15 to 20 minutes and just 5 minutes by taxi.

We had a great time in Cabo and can't wait to go back. We highly recommend Villas del Palmar.

Arrived August 9th for 5 Nights...what a surprise
Had a lot of promises made but no one can prepare you for what you receive. Upon entering the hotel, you are accosted by the conceirge to set up an appointment for buing a time share. It is there sole purpose for being there. After you sign up (if you do ) and go to the presentation, they don't even acknowledge you. The maid service was a joke. Most days she did not replenish the wash cloths; never replenished any hotel amenities (shampoo, lotion) and on one day totally missed making up the room. Nice pool..Don't expect any service for drinks ....even after ordering, had to go up and get my own..very short staffed. Even in the restaurants..the only time you see the waiter is when you sit and when you leave. Their buffets are a joke; seen better ones in a two star property where the keep the food hot and have some type of imagination. The breaskfast buffet is exactly the same every day. Advertised disco/nightclub..never saw it..no musice during any meals in the Tortuga except the show for one hour. Very boring. "one of the few swimable beaches"....there is no lifeguard at the pool or beaches at any time..there is a red flag hung everyday at the beach for no swimming and a sign that says "swim at your own risk" Had jewlery taken from room, nothing of great value but the hotel could care less. Try and find any Manager at this property. This is a property with a pretty facade with no guts inside. A lot of smoke and mirrors.

Dear Guest :

I am really sorry that you Left our hotel with such poor impression, However I would like to comment a few things about your review just so that other people could make their own judgment.

Yes, We are Time share property and most of the time a “no thank you” it is enough to let them know you are not interested, a lot of other guest they do take good advantage of such product.

As you might remember, on the breakfast there is an egg station where you have eggs prepared any style you like and a big selection of cold and hot dishes. To choose from so that you don´t eat everyday the same.

Also, I would like to inform you that in México all beaches are public and the hotel can not assume responsibilities for people swimming in the ocean and pools are so secure and sallow, even for kids that there is not need of a life guard.

Every room has a safety box where guest can lock their valuables, in some cases anybody could get into the rooms if doors are not locked properly.

Finally, I must tell you that every area has their own managers and personally I do see people when requested.

Again, I am really sorry for not being able to provide you with the service you were expecting.

Sincerely

We arrived Monday. As soon as you land in Mexico the time share hounds grab you! If you can avoid that you might be in the clear, until you get to your hotel. Then they HIT you again at the conceirge desk once you check in. Everyhting was fine until Wednesday, we were at the pool area. Our belongings on a lounge chair only a short distance from where we were in the pool. Not making an announcement, the staff at the hotel moved all our belongings. NO ONE SAW NOTHING AND NO ONE TOUCH YOUR STUFF! That was what security told us! Why would a tourist vactioning at this resort steal a bottle of water. I believe it was staff because they moved all the lounge chairs at once. This hotel did nothing to calm our emotions down or did they reimburse us for our loss's. I would never recommend this hotel ever! If you have to be worried about your belongings like this at a fancy resort, i think we would rather stay at a Best Western.

Our camera, phone, id's and credits were stolen on this awful day!

Me and 5 of my girlfriends went to this hotel from 7/31-8/7 this year and overall it was a great time. we did the all-inclusive package which worked rather well for us. Not having all-inclusive could be very pricey especially for 6 single 23 year old ladies. The food was very expectional for the most part, and the staff were friendly and entertaining. This resort is very family oriented and the only thing is that they have a complete slience rule after 10:30pm, and needless to say that when you are coming in at 3am in the morning it could be a problem with the secruity people. The walls are very thin in all the rooms and hall ways you can hear EVERYTHING!! that's probably why they threatened to kick us out because we were singing in the hallway, but for real where would you like a group of american girls to go in Mexico if you kick them out of their hotel! that's probably my biggest complaint is that the night secruity wasn't very nice to us they didn't even give us a warning we had no idea that we were loud, because you can just be talking in your room and you can hear it in the hallway. So i would suggest that if you are coming with a bunch of friends then you might want to get a place that's not soo many families with kids because there are lot's of kids at this resort. The whale slide pool is the best and very fun too! It can look a little dirty some days and there's always a lot of poeple in it that's why we mostly hung out at the pool bar where you can sit in the pool and get waited on all day, and Adrian is the best waiter there so if you get him your set! The Bella California restaraunt that is on the ocean has very good food and dinner food, the main restaraunt that is inside mostly has buffet a lot of the nights with a show, the food can sometimes be iffy, but the shows are cool to watxh, every night it's a different theme so it's entertaining. We stayed in Junior sweet that has to beds and a Mini Kitchen with Fridge and stove. DON'T drink the stuff they put in the fridge it's very expensive like $4 for a water, especially if you have all-inclusive just order drinks at the bar to bring to your room. There is a Wal-Mart that is 75 cents a bus ride and it's a lot cheaper then the market at the resort. Also get your souviners on the beach or in the airport i learned the hard way and bought at the resort and spent a fourtune. The nightlife is really good Cabo Wabo is always a good time, as well as Squid Row it's the Hot Spot for the most part. But me and my friends loved cabo it's very beautiful and i would go back in a heart beat. Make sure to take a water taxi to Lovers Beach so AMAZING!

  • Liked — The Location, it's close to down town Cabo
