Just returned from this resort which we traded our timeshare in Maui for. That right there may have been a mistake...Maui for Cabo? I was under the impression that Cabo was a great family destination. That is a very inaccurate misconception. The resorts are definitely great for family - the town itself is not.
The resort was great as far as the quality of the accommodations themselves. It's a great family resort with several different pools which are all separated for great privacy weather you're looking for a party croud, more mature croud or to just hang out with the kids. This and the beach were the two hi-lights of the resort.
The timeshare salespeople are disguised as your welcome team, your check-in personnel, your consierge, your bellboy - everybody! Then if you manage to stick to your guns and not do it, they call you in your room and ask you why! I finally told them that I'd do it if they gave me $400 cash and disconnected my room phone. They said they'd check with their managers - I never heard from them again.
The restaurants and deli are incredibly overpriced which doesn't encourage you to stay on the property. The food at LaTortuga was mediocre and the service was horrible. We were actually completely forgotten about twice - it took about 2 hours for us to finish our meals with two small children. I had to request service twice - to get our order in and to get our bill - the two most important parts of service. We ended up having to leave without finishing our meal and our hor's devoures came with our bill! Horribly disappointing - plus they were not in any rush to compensate us by crediting us for the appetizer - we had to take it to go. The nightly buffet/show is overpriced and drinks are not included. We later found out that you can purchase the buffet dinner meal separately and enjoy the show from your patio if you're close enough. They don't offer that information and only tell you it's dinner & a show (without the option of separating them for cheaper). After this we went to Costco and loaded up on food to make in room and enjoy on the patio (and got to see the show for free). Note: They do not encourage eating in room by not giving you anything to wash dishes with or clean up after yourself with (sponge, dish soap, dish towels, broom, etc. We had to buy those at Wal-Mart), however room service does not perform these duties either.
The staff is incredibly noisy before 8am and woke up our kids each morning with their slamming of doors and rolling of garbage cans right by our room. Insulation in the walls is nonexistant - you could hear people coming in from partying every morning at 2-3am which also woke up the kids. My advice would be to try to stay on the upper floors if not the very top floor. We were on the very bottom floor and could actually hear every toilet above us flush in our own bathroom wall because the sewer pipe ran from every floor above us down through our wall - very disgusting when you're trying to sleep!
Well I can now say that I've been to Cabo and have the official stamp in my passport however will stick with Maui from here on out.
