Resort was exceptionally clean. Beds were superb. That's where it ends. Food was limited, bland, mediocre at best. Wifi was expensive and you have to sign for every last thing you ate or drank. Entertainment was cruise ship

My husband and I were in Los Cabos for 3 weeks, this was our second stop on our vacation. We travel to Mexico 2-3 times a year, but this was our first time in the South Baja. We stayed at Villa Del Palmar the week of Christmas. We exchanged trough Interval for a one bedroom villa. We did not do the all-inclusive. When we first arrived, we were able to check in right away, but only after we met our concierge. We told her that we weren't interested in a timeshare since we already own 3, and that was it! We had a nice room on the second floor, which was under the leaves of the many palm trees on the property and we had a great view of the pool and the Sea of Cortez. The room did have a musty smell, which was very strong when opening the dresser drawers. They might want to place some kind of odor controls in the drawers. The sheets were also a bit stiff, but I was able to sleep in them without a problem. The villa was very large, kitchen was also workable, but it did have only a 2 burner electric stove in it. I only make breakfast so it was all we really needed. We decided that since we were in the area for 3 weeks, we needed to budget ourselves better since we wanted to go places and do things, So, we decided to take the 90 minute presentation just to get the extra spending money, which were actually drink coupons. The presentation was only 90 minutes since we did put the salesperson on a timer and when it went off, we were also off! So, we got our drink tickets, Gold card and a couple extra gifts from them, it worked out since we went early in the morning and it was a bit chilly at that time of the year. Our stay was great, we found the beach to be small, especially compared to Cancun, and since it was the busiest time of the year, one would have to get up at 6am to get a chair. What was a bad part of the resort, is that they have been letting people get away with saving chairs. We watched the same man every morning at 7am with about 6 towels run down to the beach and save his chairs, the pool also had saved towels on chairs which weren't occupied for several hours! We spoke with the pool concierge and they are working on monitoring that in the near future. We always sat at the same spot every day, and we seemed to be fixtures all day and at night. The firepit is nice especially in the cool evenings, which is where we were every night. Food was good, pizza very good, and some of the choices on the pool menu were also good. People did mention that the hottub wasn't very warm, but we told them to just put another child in there! Yes, the bar service ends at around 10:30pm, we always ordered enough drinks to last us until we were ready to go back to our villa. Only one time we were asked to vacate the area, and that was at 12:30am when they shut down the firepit. The location was pretty good, we took a bus to Walmart for some snacks and beverages, but we bought more at the market at the resort. We figured that if one is to take a bus to Walmart and a taxi back, where is the savings? The resort was very nicely decorated for Christmas, even a Santa sitting in a sleigh outside the lobby area, a large live tree in the lobby and a beautiful ginger bread house next to it with cookies for your pleasure. It was hard to leave when we checked out, even though we were going to another resort that day, we ended up staying later and enjoying our last day there. We would go back there in a hearbeat, we loved our stay at Villa Del Palmar.

This was our first time in cabo and we had an awesome time. The servers and pool staff were ver y helpful and catered to our every need. We only had one complaint. Our chairs on our deck broke instantly when we sat on them. Cant want to come next Year!

The people at Villa del Palmar are incredibly sweet and accommodating. While attentive, I wouldn't call it speedy. But definitely not an issue as that was exactly the pace I was looking for during my time off. Perfect time of year to go- just after the winter holidays. There were enough people to keep the place lively, but not overwhelming. They have a good amount of amenities onsite to keep you comfortable, but only about a 20 minute walk from downtown in case you'd like to venture out. Food was nice, too. Beautiful view of El Arco. Perfect for couples, families or friends. The one thing that I could do without is the sales pitch to get you to visit the condos. But when we said that we weren't interested (once, firmly), that was the last we heard about that. I would definitely stay there again.

My sister and I went to Villa del Palmar for 10 days in November 2012. We had a wonderful time except for the timeshare push. We declined it in person, on the phone and then got a paper taped to our door. That was the only bad part of the resort. We really enjoyed the buffet dinners (did all inclusive) and especially the nightly entertainment. Entertainment staff knowledgeable and fun, and got the party going. Liz Munoz working the breakfast buffet was wonderfully kind and helpful, and is their best server! Breakfast buffets were great with lots of fresh fruit. Enjoyed being by the pool and joining in on the games and water aerobics every day. Esther was great bringing us drinks and snacks by the pool. I don't know why this gets bad reviews - guess some people are just very particular. It was clean and beautifully landscaped. Would go again someday if not for the timeshare sales.

The Villa del Palmar has been around for awhile. Not a fancy place and the rooms are looking their age so don't expect a lot. The pool is noisy in the afternoons with the bingo and poolside entertainment(?).

With that said it is a great base of operations. We walked to Los Cabos twice most days, once for an outing and then again for dinner. With all the great restaurants in Los Cabos I do not understand why anyone would want to do the all inclusive (unless they had two teenage boys traveling with them).

We did have the breakfast brunch on our last day. We figured we needed to load up for a day of traveling. The custom omelet was good and the view along is the beach is wonderful in the morning.

On arrival, hotel was very impressive at check in, don't get me wrong it is a nice hotel. In the 7 days we stayed there, the service was horrible, first night we went up to the Sports lounge, only us there, 2 servers cleaning tables around us, not one helped us. We waited for about 5 mins, I finally got up and asked the bartender for a water, and 2 drinks, with him telling me I was only allowed to order 2 drinks at a time. I said we've been sitting here for 5 mins and no one has helped us, in a very aggravated tone, he apologized, then called one of the servers to help us. Next morning we tried to go for buffet in sports bar, not even seated, a server walks up to us,and says, there's another restaraunt down by the beach, pretty much pushing us away. So we walked away, best service was at the italian restaraunt down by beach, we ate there everyday. The beach staff was pretty good and consistent on coming around with drink orders, but try to get a drink at the poolbar, omg, stand there for 10-15 mins with being ignored, and ppl served before you when clearly they knew you were there first. Talk about very ungrateful, they made you feel like your money was not worthy of their service. We had the supper buffet once, you were waiting in line anywhere from 10-45 mins to be seated, and when seated it was at the end of a table that 4 other ppl were seated at, awkward, and didnt get to see a show, it was right after supper, and no one left. Unless you would stand to watch. We were asked many times on beach, and while booking activities to attend a timeshare, even though we had already, it was part of our package deal, along with 120.00 gratuities before we arrived, and at checkout, they charged us 30.00 for the gardeners, and other hotel staff, along with our everyday tipping that we didnt feel the need. On a good note, we didnt mind the locals selling their goods, we did support them, got our hair braided, it was the only shopping we did, we did not get into town. Overall the food was not good, service was horrible, everyday it was something, I felt embarrased as it was my boyfriends first trip anywhere, and this is how it turned out.
