We stayed at Palmar in September, 2003. $14.00 per person to take the shuttle from airport to hotel. Don't take a cab..$60.00 and don't get hooked on a time share presentation for a "discount" ride to hotel.
Just go to one of the desks and pay the $14.00pp for the shuttle.
Resort is very clean and well maintained. Good beach access with moderate waves, tho the "red flag" was flying several days. The on site deli and grocery store was convenient for coffee, pasteries, snacks etc. Good selection of beer, spirits and average wines for your room.
It was nice to be able to have a pot of coffee and danish on your deck in the morning while watching the early morning beach come awake. Cyber Cafe also in the deli..$5.00 per 1/2 hour. Breakfast buffet was always great, and ala carte available too. Dinner was OK, ....we ate in town most nites. If your willing to listen to the Time Share pitch at the hotel..ask for a free "gold card"...it gives great discounts in the resort and certain restaurants in town. Well worth it if your patient enough to give up 2 hours of your time. Great gym facilty with good weight room, etc. Enjoy and be polite.

myself and four friends went to cabo for our senior springbreak 2002 and stayed at villa del palmar. we absolutely loved it, everyone was super nice and no one gave us dirty looks when we came back at 3 in the morning :). i would recommend the pool over the beach, the hurricane ruined the beach. and, my friends parents who came along with us (safety reasons possibly??) was put on a different floor than us which was even better. i loved cabo and villa del palmar, i would tell everyone to stay there and have a GREAT time. but if you want a more laid back vacation without a lot of people, this resort is not for you.
and the only semi- crappy thing is that villa del palmar is a bit further away than desired but we got over that quickly:). STAY AT VILLA DEL PALMAR!!!!!!

We went back to Cabo for our second trip there and just returned last week. Last year while we were there we bought a timeshare at the Villa Del Palmar. I can not tell you how much better this stay was then last years! It doesn't even compare to where we stayed last year at the Fiesta Americana in which there was nothing to do! At the Villa Del Palmar, they make sure that they have activities throughout the day. The provided water volleyball, to water polo, ping pong, salsa dancing lessons, arts and crafts, bingo - you name it. Their food prices there were also very reasonable. They do have shows with dinner every night which seemed to be pretty reasonable - but from what I saw I am not sure if I would go - unless my kids were with me then they could be entertained by it all. However, the restaurant outside by the beach is very good and has lots of different selections to choose from including seafood, nachos, and they have their own pizza own and specilize in cooking pizzas there! Everyone at the hotel was very nice and very helpful! Do of course beware of the timeshare representatives which is basically the concierge there. I already knew this and still almost got suckered in on arrival. Although I already have a timeshare there, they invited us to a breakfast the following morning in which they were going to give us details on expansions, etc. This however was just another ploy to get people to look at their new property that is being built next door called the Estancia. They have a travel agency onsite which has decent rates and if you are a gold member there you get another 15% discount on those rates. They also have a grocery store onsite which is WONDERFUL! Last year we were in the middle of no where and it cost us tons of money to even make it to a grocery store! Having this grocery store on site was great and very useful to us! Having stayed at some luxury resorts we were very disappointed in the Villa Del Palmar. We did not expect the same level of service but met no one who seemed to want to go the extra mile to retain our repeat business. The hotel was practically empty but we were told we could not move from second floor room directly above the "restaurant" and next to the service elevator. The noise at night was so loud we had to crank up the air conditioning and pile on the blankets to block the noise. We could still hear the water whistling down the pipes though! The food was horrible and the ATM was out of cash the entire time we were there (not that this was the hotels fault, but they refused to give a cash advance on a Visa or Debit). We ended up eating most of our meals at The Office - they are superb!
