The hotel is nothing special. Accomodations are ok. At the check in you get a stamped receipt that states that you should leave a $3.50 tip per night for your room to be made up... First of all I don't need to be told to leave a tip, this is my business. Second of all, get a reality check people...this is Mexico...not Four Seasons in the Carribean. The pools are ok, they don't get cleaned often enough so by the evening you are swimming with plastic cups and straws. Also they are closed by 10pm which is a drag. Buffett in the hotel is overpriced,like everything else in Cabo, at $25 per person. The restaurant in by the water is also overpriced. Breakfast there is $15 per person and dinner will cost you at least $20 per person without drinks or desert. The useless Gold Card might save you a bit. Such prices do not compensate fot the food quality as it is poor. Some of the waiters have a big attitude problem. You can laso purchase an "all-inclusive" on any day for a whopping $60 per person... The room service is available only untill 10:30 pm :(The beach is tiny and almost always has a Red flag posted which means you cannot swim in the ocean. I think this is more of a marketing trick to keep you at the resort as you can walk about 20 feet to the next resort that has a yellow flag hanging which means it is ok to swim. Another thing is that right by the chairs on the beach they have horse rides. So imagine the smell as well as the visuals on the sand as you are trying to relax. Vendors that will sell you anything at Neiman Marcus prices are also right there and are as annoying as horses.The pool area does not have enough umbrellas so you have to fight for the spot in the shade. People that stay at VDP also have no shame. Even though you cannot reserve chairs or umbrellas they leave books and towles on the chairs while going to lunch or to town, so no one can use their space. So at some point you see empty chairs everywhere but you cannot use them... :) and the hotel does not want to do anythin off getting things in downtown. Finally...do not pay $7 for a taxi ride to downton. There is a local bus right at the foot of the hotel that will take you to downtown for 60 pesos each (60 cents). On the way back you can catch it by the Shopping Center "Paraiso", on the front of the bus it should say "Hotelera" as it goes through several hotels and VDP is it's last stop. The latest bus leaves at 9pm, so catch it a little earlier. Also the taxi to the airport is a big rip-off... they can charge you anywhere form $25 to $75 to get there. At the same bus stop at "Paraiso" you can catch a bus that goes to "Aeropuerto" for 16 pesos ($1.60 ) it will take a little longer and you have to walk from the bus stop to the airport for about half a mile but at least you'll save some cash.

Just got back from a much needed vacation in beautiful Cabo San Lucas. This place has everything to offer for a vacation. We were very pleased with our stay at VDP! Our room was in the center building facing the Sea/pools. Great room! Plenty of space for the two of us; one bedroom one bath. WE LOVED IT! I found the staff to be friendly and open.I think this resort has the best pool area around. Spread out and plenty of chairs, but would place towels down early in am to get the padded ones.We ate dinner at the resort the first night. Excellent seafood buffet but the service was poor. The show was a bit cheesy but good for 30 bucks a person. The breakfast buffet was very good and reasonable, about 10 bucks a person with coffee, juice etc. Don't need lunch after this one. The gym was on the small side, but excellent spa.We had a wonderfull week here at VDP. Would stay here again the next time we come down.

I have stayed at Villa Del Palmar three times now and loved it each time. The people who work there are very professional and friendly. I think they take very good care of their guests. On my last trip to Villa Del Palmar, I was having a holiday by myself, a mother's respite and it was wonderful. Don't be afraid to vacation alone if you stay at Villa Del Palmar; they become like family if they know you are "soltera". Anyhow, on my last visit this March, I was more aware of my surroundings. On previous stays, there were 3 other people in our party. I never knew that Villa Del Palmar was such a noisy resort. The noise starts in the morning at 9 am with the activities around the pool and ends with the grande finale of the evening's performance at Las Tortugas, which, I need to say, runs every evening starting at 6 pm sharp. My room was at the back of the hotel, fifth floor overlooking the pool; the noise from the band is so loud that I could not carry on a telephone conversation and my patio door was shut. I had to have the TV volume up quite loud until the entertainment was over. If you are looking for peace and quiet, Villa Del Palmar is not the resort for you. I think Villa Del Palmar is a wonderful resort. It is a 'full meal deal'.

We stayed at the Villa del Palmar. We had a studio which was okay. The room was nice but nothing like a full size condo. The concierge and waiters were awesome. Very friendly and courteous. They talk you into doing a timeshare presentation. If you do it, make sure you get more than a calendar and bottle of tequila since the tequila is nasty and is a small bottle anyway. The resort was fun! Met tons of people and had a blast. Make sure you walk to the Office and Mango Deck on the beach! They were so much fun! Also try Ediths restaurant. It is a little expensive but the food is great. We thought the food by the pool at Villa del Palmar was yummy and the drinks were too. The restaurant was okay but we preferred exploring the city and trying restaurants there.
