My fiance and I had just came back our week of vacation in Cabo. We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Rose and was overall very satisfied. The staff was the friendliest staff I have ever met. Everyone from the front desk people to the concierge to the wait staff at the pool were very accommodating. On our first day we were assigned to a pool view room vs. an Ocean view room, but we were told that there would be an ocean view room freeing up the next day and they can move us there. The next day we were away from the hotel all day but they told us that they can move our belongings to the new room once it became available. When we came back that evening, our belongings were in the new room as promised. Though, the new room was right over the roof where the AC units were located so there was that loud humming sound when you sit on the deck. We figured, oh well and ocean view was better than none and it was waaay too hot to be out on the balcony for a long period of time anyways.
The hotel and the room itself was very clean. The pool area very pretty and also very clean. Though the chairs under the umbrella and the cabana usually filled up very quickly between 11am-4pm.
We lounged around on the beach more than we did at the pool. Be aware that there will be an abundant of beach vendors on the beach as the Rose is located on the main hotel strips. The hotel does string up ropes to indicate the line in which the vendors cannot cross, though of you are lying out on the lounge chair areas, you will get haggled. My take on the street vendors is that if you are going to buy souvenirs anyways why not buy from these vendors since they work so hard to make a living. Can you imagine walking back and forth on the beach all day in 90 something degree weather?? Make sure you bargain with them because they really pad their prices.
We were very happy with the location as it was within walkable distance to downtown. It is about 15 minutes walk to the outskirt of downtown and about a 30 minutes walk to the marina. I found that the day time was way too hot to be walking that distance so we usually waited until to dinner time to start heading downtown. It's amazing how much more pleasant the evenings were. If you prefer to take the taxi, it is $6 to downtown and $10 to the marina.
If you have a chance to use the spa - use it! Though it was quite expensive, my fiance and I really enjoyed ourselves. Our 50-minute couple massage was very relaxing! The staff were very friendly and professional. If you get one of the massages package, you can use the spa all day. If not, it is $15 per day. The spa consists if a very large gym, Swedish showers, a steam room, and a room with three jacuzzi with both hot and cold water. Except for the gym, everything is separated for male and female.
There are some quirks about the hotel that I thought I should mention. Though by no means did these quirks really damper our stay. 1) Be aware that the timeshare people do work for the Pueblo Bonitos. On our first day when we walked out to the front of the hotel to get a taxi, one of the Rose's greeters were trying to persuade us to go to a timeshare seminar at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset. After much negotiating, we agreed to go as he offered a few incentives and we wanted to check out the Bonitos on the Pacific side anyways. 2) Since the Rose is in the main hotel strip, as we are hanging out on the beach, occasionally we were struck by the fume from the exhaust of jet skis and activity boats that went back and forth in the ocean. They can only come within a certain distance from us, though we wish that they would be further away. 3) The shower in both of our rooms were very inconsistent. Half of the time the water was either too hot or too cold. One time the water even stopped all together.
All in all, we would definitely recommend the Pueblo Bonito Rose.
