My wife and I, along with another couple initially booked the RIU for late August. However, after reading the reviews here we 86'd that hotel. I will say during our stay we visited the RIU and were impressed, leaving the resort saying we would have been happy there as well.

Now on to the Rose'. My wife came across a great deal on a presidential suite (2bdrms) for the week for a grand, we couldn't pass it up. Very nice hotel, a bit older but well kept with great customer service and extremely clean. One of the best things about this resort is the location. We could walk down the beach to the beachfront restaurants (go to the office for dinner) as well as walk into town if we chose to. Great pool, with great service. I'd advise you to get to the pool and put a towel down before 9am. Cabana's are first come first serve, we got one by leaving towels down at 8am (when the towel booth opens).

Our rooms/dishes/etc. were cleaned everyday. A/C worked very well and the shower water pressure was awesome. I really don't have complaints about this hotel. We'd stay there again.

About Cabo: I'd say a typical Mexican town. Some descent shops, mostly repetative items. The restaurants were good, we ate Mi Casa (mexican) Restaurant (they have a seafood one as well), Poncho's grilled up our Tuna we caught, Lorenzillo's was a nice upscale restaurant my wife just had to dine at one night (Lobster Thermador was great). By that time we were craving American food and hit Johnny Rockets, then Hard Rock (good burger).

Weather: Awesome, but damn it was hot! We made dumb decision to walk into town the afternoon of our last day to shop, crazy hot! Go in the morning if you have to get the shopping out of the way early, then head back to your pool at this time of year.

Fishing: My buddy and I and his wife chartered a 28' boat from ABY Charters. Helio was very nice and helpful. He had the best deal we could find at $300 for a 1/2 day (6:30 am to noon). Ryan caught a nice Tuna, and I pulled in a Skip Jack. We locked into a Marlin early but it go off. Dangit!!!

The only negative I can even come up with is the four of us were popping Imodium AD like it was coming out of a Pez dispenser. Ryan couldn't leave the room one day it was that bad! It's either the water which we brushed our teeth with or the local fruit. Either way, if possible I'd recommend pre-medicating prior to arrival to be safe.

A real plus here is the option to take the free shuttle to the other Pueblo Bonito resorts. We hit the Sunset resort one day and wow it was nice. Overall, the Rose' was 3.5 to 4+ stars, but again a very nice hotel and stay.

After doing some research online, my family decided that the Pueblo Bonito Rose looked like the best deal for the money. We were definitely right! My parents treated my sister and I, along with our boyfriends, to a week-long trip in Cabo, and the hotel definitely completed the experience. The hotel, its rooms, and the grounds were immaculate, the pool was beautiful, and the restaurants were amazing! The only problem was the amount of vendors on the beach trying to sell you things. We got tired of being harassed by them, so we stayed close to the pool. However, the hotel has a roped off section on the beach so that the beach vendors don't bother you as much.

As soon as we arrived, we checked in and had to wait a little while because our rooms were not ready yet. But we were starving, so we ate at the Mare Nostrum, which is the hotel restaurant next to the pool that overlooks the ocean. The view is amazing, and we loved the food! Our boyfriends really liked the California Cheesesteak sandwich, and I liked the tortilla soup. And just so you know, the water is perfectly safe to drink at the hotel and most other places around Cabo.

One piece of advice: take advantage of the free shuttle to the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo. We went there for a time share presentation, which was actually surprisingly fun, and used the main pool, which is gorgeous! It has an infinity pool and a bar in the pool, and it overlooks the Pacific Ocean. If you like frozen drinks, ask for their "Sunset" drink, which looks like a Mexican flag. It is layered with strawberry daiquiri, pina colada, and some sort of melon daiquiri.

Overall, the Pueblo Bonito Rose is the best deal for a close-to-town, non all-inclusive resort. We would definitely go back again.

Our family of four spent a wonderful week at PBR in July 2007. The resort was clean, conveniently located, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The weather was PERFECT! Warm, with a slight breeze, and NOT humid. The timeshare people left us alone once they saw we were uninterested.

Our kids, under 10, loved the pool more than anything. We spent most of the week poolside. The food and service at the pool was very good. Since our kids are easily entertained, we opted to lay low and not venture out too much. Which for us- is a vacation! Our 2 trips outside the resort were to the PB Sunset and to Santa Maria Beach. The Sunset has warm, beautiful pools (with fun swim-up bars) and amazing ocean views. The kids loved the walk on the beach- I was nervous the entire time though because the ocean is known to be dangerous. NO ONE was in the water there! However, we did enjoy a beauftul afternoon snorkeling and swimming at Santa Maria Beach where the water was calm and prestine. It's about a $20 taxi ride- make sure to ask the driver to come back to pick you up! Take snacks and drinks, since there is nothing but (condos?) nearby. They do rent snorkeling gear and umbrellas on the beach.

Some tips for your stay at PBR:
* Taxi to - about $70; we had our driver stop at Costco, which saved us $$$ on drinks and snacks. From- $60, staff will call a taxi and they arrive w/in minutes. I purchased Transcabo trip on the web for $50 back to airport, but do not recommend this if you want to get there fast. (We still made it in time...)
* The kitchenette is great for making meals. I bought cereal, milk, juices, salami, cheese, sliced bread, drinks and snacks. The refrigerator (which is a good size!) does have a small freezer, great for freezing drinks to take out in a little insulated cooler.
* Restaurants to try near PBR: Gardenias!!! Great Mexican food at very reasonable prices (~$2 for tacos) Walk through the Melia via the beach. Also nearby is Peacocks- read a review on it and tried it out. Fantastic food and a great ambiance. You must try their raspberry philo desert!
* Kid's Activities- we signed them up for one day to break the monotony (and to rent a jet ski!) They loved it! The staff was very friendly. $15 for about 5 hours! 9:45 to 12:00 & 2-5:00.
*Take plenty of dollar bills to tip. Be sure to tip the maid too. Maid service was great! (Maybe because we tipped well?)
*The weather channel forecast called for "scattered thunderstorms" all week; it was sunny and warm all week. So don't let that hamper your plans. (We all came back brown!)
*Take inflatable pool toys for kids, goggles and masks
*The airport has a nice variety of souvenirs, and at reasonable prices.

All in all, we had a great trip and came back relaxed!

This was my third visit to Cabo San Lucas and my second visit to the Pueblo Bonito Rose. (PBR was not built when I first visited Cabo.) The deal I got was great and once again the PBR came through with excellent service and amenities.
Check in and check out were a breeze. I encountered no problems during my one-week stay. The room was cleaned daily and done expertly. Even though there are many families with kids that were there during my visit, the hotel was quiet and sane. We ate only once for lunch at the PBR's restaurant, Mare Nostrum, but the food was good as was the service.
For us, the decision to stay again at the PBR was not just based upon our prior outstanding experience, but also because it is located directly on the beach and it is well within walking distance from downtown Cabo and fun beach restaurants like Tobascos, The Office and the Mango Deck.
I feel that the PBR is a great value. All of the workers were always friendly and helpful. I plan to go back to Cabo next year and stay at the PBR again.

i lvoed this hotel and had alot of fun in cabo! everything was really nice, but drinks could get pricey. For those under 18 it was hard to get into a club at night, but anyone could get alcohol at the hotels. Cabo was alot of fun, and this was a really nice hotel, i highly recommend going.
