We stayed in Penthouse 6028 at Pueblo Bonito Rose. The unit was perfectly situated..providing an unobstructed dead on view of the tip of Baja, the signature rocks and arch is. There were 3 couples including us in the unit and we had plenty of room. There were 3 bedrooms and two levels. We kept pinching ourselves since it was so dreamy! High on our pink cloud (the Pueblo Rose), we could see the gardenscape, the pool, the ocean and all and yet had perfect privacy.
The maid service came thru everyday and if we wanted anything, we had only to call. The beds were great, the restaurants were wonderful and the spa was unbeatable. Having a kitchen with a refrigerator etc was great. We cooked some of our own meals and had plenty of refreshments stocked for our stay. The location of PBR is perfect...right on Medano Beach and swimming in the ocean was so easy and safe.
You do have to say no to beach vendors but if you want to buy something, they are cheap!

We stayed in an Executive Suite at the Rose 3/7 - 3/11. The grounds are immaculate. The pool is gorgeous and the service is very good.

Things I had read that were bad, but did not experience - We were not hounded about timeshares. We were approached once or twice, but it was not a big deal. Just know that anything offered for free will involve a timeshare presentation. We also did not have any trouble getting lounge chairs by the pool or on the beach. It was never a problem. I also did not feel like I was being harrassed for tips. Tipping was no different at the Rose than any other resort hotel in the world.

Things I wish I had heard about - There are no ovens in the kitchenettes (we figured there wouldn't be, but weren't for sure). There is a Sam's Club just a few blocks away (they call it City Club). You can shop there even if you don't have a Sam's card for a $1 fee. The kids activities are great. They have kids activities twice a day by the pool for ages 4 -10. Great kids staff.

Major Pros - Location, location, location. It's close to town and on a swimmable beach. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The grounds are amazing. The pool was great for kids. It had a wonderful shallow end and was very warm. This is the place to take kids in Cabo.

Cons - Only double beds in the rooms. The drinks from the bar were not as good as the ones we made in our blender in the room.

Heads up - bring cash - a waiter warned us to be careful with our credit cards in Cabo as some waiters and bartenders will steal your number. Be firm with vendors if you don't want to be bothered. They are like gnats on Medano beach. We ate at a restaurant on the beach, and they continually interrupted our lunch to solicit us. There are several reasonably priced restaurants on Medano beach toward the Marina from the Rose. Finally, prearrange your airport transportation and refuse to pay for little kids. Also, tip the driver to take you via the toll road to save some time.

My boyfriend and I and another couple stayed at the Rose from Feb. 28th to March 5th. We had a great time and the trip was a good mix of activity: went marlin fishing (caught one!) and rode ATVs in the desert (a must!) and relaxtion: sipped margaritas by the Rose's gorgeous pool and got the "couple's massage" (although the Swedish massage just didn't cut it, I would opt for the deep-tissue Sport's massage next time).

The hotel itself is very nice. Although, the first room they put us in was on the 3rd floor and right next to a hugh bird cage which was terribly loud and almost unbearable. However, they were happy to move us and our next room was on the 5th floor (try to get a room on one of the higher floors for better views, there are 6 floors) with a view of the pool area and partial ocean view. The rooms were OK, comfortable but not really plush. The location is great, though. The Rose is on the beach and a 10 minute walk into town.

We sat through the time share presentation. They bus you to their sister hotel, Sunset Beach, which is about 10 minutes away. The presentation lasted about 2 hours. For sitting through it, we received $100 off our hotel bill and a bottle of alcohol. In retrospect, it was bearable, but because we were there for a short amount of time, not worth it. They let you use the facilities at Sunset Beach though, so we ended up sitting by the pool area that day which was very nice.

If you are looking for a vacation that is a mix of relaxation and fun activities, Cabo is the place. If you are the type of person that likes to explore your surroundings via dining, shopping, bar hopping, and want a nice, clean, and comfortable (although not 5 star) hotel, the Rose offers that.

If you just want to hang out by the pool or beach, don't mind eating your meals at the hotel, and are not interested in venturing into town every night, I would choose Sunset Beach which has much, much nicer rooms and facilities (this is an newly built hotel) and I think is comparably priced.

The Rose is a great hotel, very clean with excellent service, especially poolside! One drawback is their lack of queen or king size beds, all rooms seem to have only double beds. But the beds are comfortable and be sure to get up and walk to the beach(50 feet from your room) to watch the sunrise. The hotel is on Medano Beach which has several great restaurants(my favorite is The Office) and is easy walking distance to the heart of Cabo's tourist district.

My husband and I stayed at Pueblo Bonito Rose for the week of February 19 through the 26th, 2005. I did read most, if not all of the various reviews regarding this property and depending on your mind set and what you're looking for specifically, you'll either love or hate it. Well, we LOVED it!

TIMESHARES - I was a bit concerned about the whole time share pressure and was very pleased that we were approached only 1 time on the first day of our arrival. I was truly prepared to be harassed as I've read but did not encounter any of that. I was pretty adamant about NOT going to any timeshares, and it really did not matter to me what they were willing to give us in return. We gave them a polite "no thank you" in Spanish and English and it seem to work! ;)

HOTEL - The location is everything and we were basically a 10 minute walk from town, great swimming beach etc. Several of the popular restaurants/bars (The Office, etc) are located a nice walk down the beach. The hotel grounds are beautiful and are kept immaculately clean. The pool/beach service was prompt and the food was pretty good. A previous poster did mention the swimming pool area and not being able to reserve a lounge chair unless you put a towel on it type thing and she's 100% correct. That was probably the most annoying issue for us. We were up very early several days of our stay and I noticed that all of the cabanas and choice lounge chairs were gone by 6-630am max..people would put towels/belongings on the chairs and claim them..it was my understanding that you weren't allowed to do that but oh well, it didn't really "mar" our trip much. The deli store was very convenient but expensive. We did enjoy services at the spa and we both felt that it was well worth the monies and really not much more than what one would pay at a top spa in the Bay Area. I had a wonderful massage as did my husband, who also got his hair cut at the salon..again the prices were comparable to what we would be at home. We ate twice at the hotel and it was their breakfast buffet, which was very good but a bit on the expensive side.

ROOMS - We had a Junior suite which was perfect for both of us. They put us on the top floor (6th) facing the ocean so it was quite nice. The beds are hard and I requested an eggshell mattress which they added that same day! You have every necessary in the room, if you want to cook, microwave etc., etc. Housekeeping came at different times of the day, sometimes first thing in the morning and sometimes late afternoon, they did do a great job of cleaning up.

Sorry for the loong review but I wanted to let all know about things that we thought were important..overall, I would definitely go back and bring my kids to enjoy this beautiful hotel and surroundings! Again, the service from the time we checked in until the time we left was OUTSTANDING! Thank you Pueblo Bonito for making our anniversery trip a memorable one!
