The resort is great for people looking for many different vacations - relaxation, family, romantic or a fun getaway.
The pool is large with a basketball hoop and volleyball net. It is surrounded by lots of lounge chairs and cabanas. To get a cabana, you have to get up early. People like to get up early and save seats with their towels. We spent most of our days lounging in a cabana, reading and taking dips in the pool to cool off. Drinks and food are served right to you by the pool - 2 for 1 happy hours take place at 11 and 4. Drinks are pretty pricey, but also tasty.
Cabanas and chairs are also located on the beach. However, vendors continuously walk by trying to get your attention.
Staff is fantastic. While there are a few members who seemed like they would rather be elsewhere, most were extremely helpful and friendly. Felix helped us to find our Kayak tour after our first tour had a mixup and never picked us up.
Cesar, who worked at the gate you pass to go to town, helped us with buses and restaurant recommendations, as did Milton at the concierge desk. Both were extremely friendly and helpful. Also, Wilver was the best pool server we had, by far.
Town is about a 10-minute walk. There are lots of restaurants in town, as well as shops and a large scattered market where you can buy anything from touristy t-shirts to jewelry to plates and bowls. There are a lot of bars and places to go out for the evening.
The rooms are not what you normally get in the US, but we found them to be perfect for us. The room had a small kitchen, replete with a stove, microwave, blender and toaster, so we went to Wal-mart and got groceries for the week. There were a few small problems, but the staff were generally quick to come and fix any issues. A maid cleans the room daily - the only issue we had was that the time changes drastically each day, so some days she'd show up early in the morning and others it'd be late in the afternoon - we never knew when to be out of the room.
There are a number of activities offered at the resort, including water aerobics, stretch classes, salsa lessons, Spanish lessons, cooking classes, wine and cheese tastings and much more. There were a number of children activities also, but as this was a girls week, we didn't look into those.
We really recommend both the kayaking and canopy tour, but heard good things about many of the tours down there. A lot of people go on about how you have to go to The Office, a nearby restaurant/bar on the beach - while it was nice to eat on the beach, the food and drinks are very overpriced.
One thing we did not like was the fact that while the resort boasts a business/internet center, there are charges to use.
The spa has a great fitness center and offers exercise classes, like spinning and pilates.
Overall the Pueblo Bonito Rose was a great resort and Cabo is a great vacation local.
Nearby activities - I highly recommend kayaking out to El Arco and Lover's Beach. We got a tour (after our first mixup) with Arturo (a marine biologist). The resort's activity desk on the beach can set you up with it. Go the earliest you can to have a private experience - the later it gets (9-10 a.m.) people start swarming. It was extremely beautiful and Arturo was nice enough to carry our camera with him so he took many amazing photos.
Cabo Adventure's Canopy Tours was another highlight of our trip. We zip lined through beautiful scenery, as well as rock climbed and rappelled. It was TONS of fun and the guides were great.
