My girlfriend and I traveled to Cabo from the 10th until the 17th of August. Before going I did many hours of research looking for the optimal place to spend a romantic, relaxing and funfilled week in Mexico adn the reasearch deffinately paid off. The Pueblo Bonito Rose (PBR from here out) was the perfect fit for everything we were looking for.
The Rooms
There are 2 types of rooms at the PBR the studio and the suite. We stayed in the studio and it was more then enough luxury and space for the two of us, especially since we were not in the room that much. The Studio has a small living space, 2 double beds which fit together nicely and the staff will leave pushed together, an apartment style kitchenette and a very nice stone bathroom. When we arrived the room was in impecable condition and every afternoon we returned to the same because housekeeping (Cecy escpecially) do a fantastic job each day. Our view was half of the ocean and the pool and was a spectacular site to wake up to each morning. The suites offere the same with the edition of 2 seperate bedrooms for sleeping.
The Grounds/Staff
The resort was kept in beutiful order from the grass, to the cabanas to the beach area, to the poolside chairs. It was nevever difficult to find a chair and they have fresh towels avai;able at anytime that you might need them. The poolside/beach waitstaff bent over backwards to make you feel as welcome and pampered as possible with quick and very friendly service. Treat them well and it comes back tenfold. Tips a few bucks each day goes along way down there, but dont be cheap they work extremly hard. The pool is very large, big enough for volleyball, water aerobics and with enough space to still find some seclusion with any travel partner.
The Beach
The beach is beautiful and the PBR is one of the few resorts that sits on swimable water. The sea of Cortezt has beutiful warm blue water that makes for a very much need refreshement as it can get quite Hot in Cabo we felt as hot as 110 but its a dry heat and totally manageable. Vendors walk the beach at all hours but the PBR staff keep them away from you as long as you stay in their section, complete with chairs, cabanas, waitstaff and delicious sushi bar. One warning!! the sand gets HOT!, to hot to walk on without and footwear so come prepared.
The Activities
The PBR has both an activity desk both in the hotel lobby and directly on the beach. The stand on the beach was a pleasure any time we felt like doing an activity we just went up, requested somehting and could be doing out activity withing 15 minutes and very close by. The rose also has a beutiful spa. Included you will have access to the full size gym, hot tubs, steam room, cold plunge and locker room. The staff is curtious, friendly and caters to whatever it is you may need.
Reccomended Activities
1.Jetskiing
2.Swim with the dolphins (expensive but 100% worth it)
3.Sunset booze cruise (reccoment the fiesta, $35 for 3 hours open bar with dinner)
4.If you are a couple it is a must that you get a couples massage at the spa. It is one of the most romantic, relaxing and enjoyable things you can do together.
5.Take free shuttle from PBR to the Pueblo Bonito Sunset and spend they day their is a gorgeous sister resort with a more adult oriented setup
Night Life
My girlfriend and I are both 25 so this was a big part of our trip. Downtown Cabo is a 5 minute cab ride from the PBR. Cabs are always accessible and are always reasobably priced, most times a ride will be $6 There are many small bars in the arera that will quench your thirst for a reasobal bill but the best places to be are the Gigglin Marlin, El Squid Roe and of Course CABO WABO!! and the ZOO. The ZOO ia more of a nighclub atmosphere but dont go until atelast 12 as its more of a latenight spot. Cabo Wabo is a ton of fun with great local cover band and delicous drinks. (cant drive 55 and the waborita were my favorite)
Overall
Honestly, after spenading a week at the PBR we didnt have one bad thing to say about the place. It was everything we could have wanted in a resort and more. Cabo San Lucas is a great place for a vacation wheather it be family style or romantic. People often complain about the timeshare people, and while they are clearly present at all time a simple no gracias is all you need and they will be on their way. Our only negative that we could find is the young children who walk the streets selling gum and tinkets for a buck, they can gutwrenching to see. Other than that i would fully reccomend a stay at the Pueblo Bonito Rose in Cabo. It made for a fantastic getaway.
