We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Rose from 7/28 until 8/4. This place is fabulous. I traveled with my husband and my two children ages 15 and 4. Everyone had a wonderful time. The accomodations were first class. Each and every person did their best to make our stay memorable. I must mention Milton, Fernanda and Lariemy at the concierge desk. They are knowlegable and friendly. Then there is Reyna at the front desk. These people are first class and the PBR is lucky to have them. The poolside service was excellent and fast. The pools were clean. Our room attendant Paty kept our place immaculate even when we filled the room with beach sand. I must mention some places that are a must visit. First there is a seafood place, Mariscos Mazatlan. Then there is the office. A bit overpriced but the service and atmosphere are great. Then there is a little place on the beach called Las Palmas. They hijacked us on the way to the office with stories of their fresh fish and low prices. How right they were. We also visited a place called La Golongringa. I know that I spelled this wrong but if you ask the conceirge they will direct you. The food and service were top notch. We also swam with the dolphins which was great. The kids loved it. The ATV tour was fabulous and even my 4 year old loved it. He rode on the front of my ATV. We loved the aerobics at the pool and my 4 year old loved the kids activites. There were plenty of teenagers there for my daughter. We met some wonderful people and also visited the Sunset. It is a beautiful resort but I liked the Rose better. Something about seeing the same faces at the big pool each day made it fell like home away from home for the week. We loved the resort so much that we didn't venture into town much. We did most of our shopping on the beach. The vendors were friendly and happy to do business with you. The Rose got so much bad press on trip advisor that I almost cancelled. I am so glad that I did not. We even toyed with the idea of extending our stay but could not get through to the airlines on Sunday. This place is great from the personell to the acommodations. Check it out for yourself.

The hotel is a 4-star hotel decorated in Italian-Meditteranean style I believe. They try to pitch the 90-minute breakfast to you right away under the guise of "We'll give you your welcome packet". If you have time, the discounts can be nice. We were offered $36.00 massages at the spa and $100 off our total bill.
When we declined, they said they would also throw in 2 bottle of tequila, which did not excite us, so they offered a free trip to El Arco, which we both had been to. So it seems there are various things you can get out of it depending on who you are (family, couple, friends traveling). We declined it all because we were only there for three days and didn't want to waste the time.

It's very close to town, a 5 block walk on a straight road. I booked a junior suite and it was very nice. The room was clean, pleasantly decorated in yellows, light greens and oranges whites. We were on the 6th floor, which had a partial view of the ocean, and a nice breeze that came through the room all the time. We never used the AC. Our room had a small kitchenette. It had a mini fridge, microwave, sink, and even included plates, cups, and kitchen utensils! In another cabinet there were medical items should you need them (Pepto, Excedrin, Dramamine, etc) and in the basket they had microwave popcorn, and other snacks. The room is quite well equipped.

On the last day I discovered they had a deli downstairs with a small market. It has everything from cereal to fresh fruit, snacks, drinks, coffees, and sweets. The deli looked like they made sandwiches and salads, and they had a selection of cakes you could choose from. Seems ideal for families.

If you go out the hotel and turn left at the gate, go three blocks, there is a local mini market that is great for buying bottled water, beer, snacks, medicines, and of course tequila for much less than the hotel.

They cleaned the room thoroughly everyday. The shower was quite strong, so much so that I had to turn it way down. No shortage of water use there. The staff were fine. Some were not so pleasant, but the pleasant ones compensated for the few that were not.

I did not go in the pool, but it looked ideal for kids. They have lots of activities for kids and adults to do in/by the pool. The beach has lounge chairs with cabanas, and the vendors on the beach come by but cannot go past the plastic chain they set up.

They have an ATM machine, Internet and fax use, and spa. Overall I'd say it is a nice hotel. One person commented that the caged birds were noisy, but I imagine they must have been right next to it. I really enjoyed hearing them in the morning. One thing that bothered me a bit in the beginning was this constant humming noice that sounded like it ws coming from some machine/generator. It never stopped, but eventually I must have gotten used to it because I don't remember caring about it towards the end of the trip.

On a scale of 1 - 5 , 5 being the best, they are a 4 in my book. Mostly they try really hard to make it pleasant, and most staff are very, very nice. There are a few that are grumpy and unpleasant, and that's too bad. However, it is getting quite developed, so it's not surprising that some people who work there may be frustrated. Tourist can be annoying sometimes. :-)

Was not terribly impressed with this resort. Rooms were smaller than at other Cabo resorts, and in need of some upgrading. There is no internet of any kind in the rooms, so you must take your laptop downstairs and sit outside of their Internet cafe to connect. Restaurants were good. Be prepared to get hounded to death to look at timeshares.

I have stayed with my family at the Pueblo Bonito Rose for the past two years, we enjoyed it so much to come back again, the price was right and the location is great. This year, the staff seemed very uptight , much more strict on various things they didn't seem to to care about before (saving pool chairs, no diving etc.) I thought, wow they've stepped up the supervision, it was very noticeable. Unfortunately the supervision that was needed most, was responding quickly to an emergency, which didn't happen. A small boy (4-5 yrs) drowned in the pool at 6pm Sunday, July 26th. It was a terrible sight to witness, something I will never forget. The one thing I can't stop thinking about was the lack of trained help from the Hotel staff and their response time. The child was being given CPR by guests of the hotel feverously for 8-10 minutes before the Hotel staff arrived. The staff seemed confused and did not appear to have any clue how to handle the situation. The crowd started to ask where is the Paramedics after 12 vital minutes had passed. At that point a bell boy finally took off running as fast as he could to get outside help. Ironically, there is an emergency medical room on the same street of the resort about 300 yards from the hotel entrance and a fire station a half of a block further. If it were'nt for the guest stepping up to help, I dont know who would have. Once the paramedics arrived it was too late. The child's life was gone. Although they took over to help, it was too late. I keep scratching my head wondering what if that were my child? Why didn't the hotel have a CPR certified person on the property or the remnents of an emergency plan that may have helped save the childs life? Where were the emergeny phones around the pool? Why was there no defibulator on site? What if we were in the States, would the hotel have been faster to respond? Would he have lived? I can tell you this, it was the longest 20 minutes of my life. I've never felt further from home than I did that afternoon. USA may not have the weather and beautiful resort beaches of Cabo, but we do have safety regulations that hold hotels accountable to ensure safety is the number one priority for everyone.

My heart goes out to the family of the Arizona child. A part of me died in Cabo that day. I will never go back to a resort out of the country that does not have a Doctor and medical facility onsite ever again.

If you are going to Cabo, please watch your children in the pool and please do your research about the hotel and the safety precautions they have to ensure you and your family's safety before you book your family get a way.

Five or so years ago we went to Cabo and stayed at Rose. While there we went on the timeshare tour of PB Sunset Beach, realized what a hassle Sunset Beach would be (carts & shuttle) and asked about buying at Rose. We bought & this was our first trip back.

We brought another couple as guests and we were looking forward to enjoying a luxurious week. Needless to say, the first impression was not good. It was obvious that our unit was not occupied the previous week, as the refrigerator was unplugged and smelled horrible, the tray beneath the freezer was overflowing with water and when we opened it water poured out. We had to fish the power cord out from behind the fridge and the fridge sits up on a little platform, but doesn't stay put very well. Luckily a maid was close by and she came and cleaned the mess and the interior of the fridge.

My wife is very frugal and planned on stocking the kitchen by going to the Walmart that is close by. I am a card carrying Walmart refusenik, but since we had very limited choices I acquiesced. It took the refrigerator a long time to cool down and the ice cream we bought thawed and refroze.

We had a unit with 2 bathrooms and in the shower that my wife & I were using the shower head was pretty clogged and water shot out kind of crazy, choosing odd angles and such. When some workers came to repair the TV (another story) I pointed out the shower head's difficulties. Neither the TV nor the showerhead were taken care of that day, the TV was repaired the next day, except it still got Fox News, of which I learned that there is no news on Fox News.

Back to the shower, I unscrewed the showerhead, took apart the sewing kit, pulled out the sewing needle and poked out all the little holes on the showerhead, rinsed it and poured the considerable amount of sediment out, reattached it to the neck and voila! If the manager of PB Rose reads this s/he can mail me one of those babies anytime, we are not metered and that was the best showerhead I have ever used.

We did encounter some less than enthusiastic employees on this trip, for some reason the other guy that came with us seemed to have attracted the enmity of one of the ladies that seemed to be a supervisor in the pool area. At one point we were unable to get lounge chairs that were under umbrellas and so we cobbled together four and moved them over by the giant parakeet cage. After awhile some folks left and the wives hustled over and grabbed 2 loungers under an umbrella, I left to jump in the water at the beach and while I was gone he was evicted from that location. I asked what the problem was and he said, in jest, that she reported that he was bothering the birds. I noticed later, after we had dutifully relocated that she appeared to be giving him the stinkeye. The next day he had our cooler, which looks like a beach carry bag and she disciplined him for having it by the pool. He responded that it is a bag, not a cooler. More stinkeye. A couple of days later, while the women were off shopping, a younger couple came by and gave him a partial 12 pack of beer, telling him that they were leaving and he could have them. He set the beer on the deck and continued his repose. The same employee came by shortly afterward and informed him he could not have that beer there. After I stopped laughing we decided that she just didn't like him.

The other couple left and we were on our own. I have to say that after all the minor problems were solved this is a wonderfully romantic and luxurious place to stay. The service we received from the bellmen, the maids and the concierge are top notch, the food in the restaurants is excellent and the service at Fellini's was incredible. In the past we've traded our week to go elsewhere, next time we are coming back to Rose!

The only meal we ate out was dinner, the unit came with a coffee maker, toaster, 2 burner cook top, microwave and the infamous refrigerator. We ate breakfast in, packed lunches (bring a softsided cooler, not allowed by pool, but okay for snorkeling, etc.) and saved $200 on dinners by subjecting ourselves to the timeshare, ummm, "fractional" ownership pitch at PB Sunset/Monte Christo. During that fiasco all I could talk about was the refrigerator and the showerhead.

It is a pretty short walk into town and we got lucky because there were days with no cruise ship in port, that means fewer shoppers, hence more bargaining room with vendors (you know, supply and demand). Go by the fire station to buy a bomberos t-shirt.
