My wife and I just returned from a pleasant 3 night stay at the Pueblo Bonito Rose. I had read multiple reviews of it on the Tripadvisor web site and was curious whether the complaints about the hard beds and aggressive timeshare sales people were valid. As soon as we received our bags at the airport we were ushered over to a timeshare sales person (unknowingly) when we thought we were going to be arranging a shuttle van to the hotel. Since we didn't have any plans yet and they offered to provide us with free transportation and free diner and 100 dollars toward dining with their hotel (can't remember it's name) we decided to accept and sign up. Why they required us to pay 75 dollars in advance for the transportation and deposit on the meals - which they said they would refund next morning at the presentation - and why I paid it I'm not sure. I think in hindsight I wouldn't leave a deposit. They also told us make sure not to talk to the timeshare sales people at the hotel because they would try to persuade us to attend their presentation instead (we told them that we believed in a free market economy and the highest offer would prevail). When we arrived at the hotel, as soon as we checked in, we were told to go to the big table in the lobby for our welcoming gifts. These timeshare salespeople (associated with PBR) immediately offered more than the deal at the airport, consisting of 150 dollars toward dinning at any of the Pueblo Bonito Hotels in Cabo plus our 75 dollars cash back (for transportation+dining deposit which we had given to the timeshare sales people at the airport,) plus a 90$ snorkeling trip for two for 20$. Needless to say they're higher bid prevailed and we signed up. We actually didn't mind the presentation the next morning. The breakfast was very good, and we enjoyed the tour of the new facilities at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach (which are beautiful). We didn't feel like the pressure to buy was that strong and after saying no a few times we were released and collected our gifts which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food at the L'orange restaurant at PBR was outstanding. The dinner at PB Sunset Beach was also excellent and having the 150$ credit to use made the rather high prices easy to ignore. The snorkeling trip on the Pez Gato catamaran was my personal favorite part of the trip. The water is a beautiful blue and clear. The multicolored fish that swim up to you are really cool. People on the boat were really friendly and the food (ceviche and tuna salad on crackers plus chips with salsa and guacamole) was also good. We walked from the hotel to town day and night and never had a worry about security. The beds at the hotel are very firm, but it didn't really bother me or my wife. The fitness room at the hotel (which is free to hotel guests) was also very nice. The only thing the hotel needs is some jacuzzis by the main pool. The jacuzzis at PB sunset beach are great. All in all it was one of the nicest trips my wife and I have taken and we would be happy to return to either PBR or PB Sunset Beach.
