“what you want in a resort”

enjoyed our family stay at PBR. The resort is what we want. Excellent friendly staff who hustle and work hard to help us be comfortable. The rooms and grounds are spotless. Access to town and the beach are easy. The prices for food and drinks are VERY reasonable. A special thank you to Armando at the pool for being such a great waiter!

Seven of us girls stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Rose June 13-18. We could not have picked a a better resort. The rooms were exactly as pictured, the grounds impeccable and the staff absolutely wonderful. The proximity to town was great and we felt safe everywhere we went. The food at the resort was good, not spectacular. One thing you have to get used to in Mexico is that meals tend to take a while. Nothing is fast...but then again, you're on vacation! We are already planning a return trip to Pueblo Bonio Rose!

My wife and I just returned from a four night stay at Pueblo Bonito Rose. We were there for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We would definitely recommend staying at this property. First and foremost, the staff is wonderful. Everyone has a smile on their face, everyone is friendly, and everyone made an effort to help us find what we were looking for. In particular, two staff members stood out...Iliana at the front desk, and Ricardo at the Concierge desk.

The hotel is close to "downtown" Cabo, so if you are looking for daytime activities there or nightlife there, then this hotel is a good choice. Also, the beach at "Rose" (as the locals call the hotel) is beautiful. Nice, sandy beach with clean water to swim in. Like most hotels in the area, they have a section of lounge chairs on the sand, so if you don't want to throw a towel down on the sand, the chairs are an option.

We went for the all-inclusive food and drink option. It was around $77 per day, per person (we purchased it when we checked into the hotel). On the plus side, we didn't have to think about where we were going to eat our meals, and when ordering, we didn't have to think about the cost. We just ordered, which was nice. On the minus side, the food wasn't that great. I thought it was just mediocre, but I'm a picky eater. My wife, who is not picky, also thought the food was just ok. Fortunately, she loved the sushi, and ordered it every meal, so we got our money's worth on all the sushi she ate. If we went back, we would most likely NOT choose the all-inclusive plan, and would do a food shopping at the market, since the room had a full kitchen. We would supplement any "home cooking" with a few restaurant meals. That being said, taste is so subjective, so your mileage may vary. You may love the food, and therefore, it would be totally worth it.

Oh, also, if you're used to fast, American-style service, you might be disappointed. It's Mexico, so things are slower. You need to accept that if you want to have a better experience. Just expect that your food will take longer to arrive than you're used to.

I haven't even mentioned the drink part of the all-inclusive. My wife and I don't drink much alcohol. An occasional beer and margarita, but that's all. If you like to drink, then the all-inclusive option obviously becomes much more attractive.

My only other gripe about the hotel was that if we wanted a consistently hot shower, we had to take it first thing in the morning. Most of our showers were taken late in the afternoon, and the water temperature would fluctuate during the shower. It wasn't such a big deal to us, and maybe it was specific to our room, but I thought I'd mention it.

In conclusion, if you're going to stay near downtown Cabo San Lucas, the Pueblo Bonito Rose is definitely a property to consider. Excellent staff, nice rooms, great beach.

Have fun!

My family has a time share here so I have been coming here for 15 years and have never had a problem. The rooms are nice and have a Spanish feel to them. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. Every thing is always clean. Poolside service and maid service everyday. The hotel opens up to the beach and is about 20 yards away from the huge pool and the hotel is only a 5 minute walk to downtown. The pool is very kid friendly and has a shallow end just for the kids. DO NOT do all inclusive! There are so many great restaurants downtown that are losing business from the all inclusive deals. I highly recommend this place.

This is our third trip to Cabo, but definitely the most fun, relaxing & enjoyable. While the PBR is not the "grandest" we have stayed in, it well exceeded our expectations. The Guest Services Desk, specifically the staff of ANDREA, LIA, PERLA, NESTOR GARCIA & EDMUNDO/EDWARDO (not sure), were the most pleasant, courteous, polite & well-mannered we have ever seen in our many years of travel. We had to make several requests based on my health status & another matter, which may have been an issue elsewhere, but these individuals went over & beyond to assure we were satisfied. Unfortunately, while standing at the desk, I observed some very rude, demanding AMERICANS, but Guest Relations stayed composed & remained the professionals they are. (I apologized to them that "people like that make me ashamed to be an American.") Location, Location, Location! Grounds are kept beautifully! Be sure & go next door to the "sister" resort & have the coconut shrimp at the restaurant, Cilantro's ~ yummy! Yes, some of the buffet food is mediocre (isn't all buffet food like that?), but you can order a la carte' at the restaurants. The Spa is just amazing with hot, warm & cold dip tubs. Massages are awesome! All the staff from the grounds to the waiters to management were friendly & always greeted us warmly. Yes, the vendors walk the beach, but behind ropes & will only address you if you show interest. (This is how many make their living.) Yes, you may be asked (more than once) about timeshare presentation(s), but just say "No thank you" politely. (This is how some make their living.) After all our country has been & is currently going through, be humble & treat these people with the respect they deserve. Will definitely return! Thanks PBR for our best Cabo trip ye!! Blessings........Richard & Donna Baldwin, Atlanta, GA

We just returned from a four-night stay at Pueblo Bonito Rose and can honestly say we made a great choice for our first visit to Cabo (after MUCH research). The resort was clean, and staff incredibly helpful-if you need something just ask and if possible they will do their best to accommodate. Our room was very clean. However, the shower temperature did not stay constant, oscillating back and forth from scorching hot to cold and back. We were only asked about timeshares/touring their properties once or twice (we arrived at the hotel ~9:30pm); we told them we were not interested without issues.

We opted for the all-inclusive plan (pre-purchased), and were very pleased with the variety of food/beverage choices. Since we were only there for four nights the all-inclusive plan greatly simplified meals and let us maximize time relaxing on the beach and at the pool. Breakfast was tasty with many options-service was mediocre. Yes, there are birds all over and you need to watch out-if you get up from the table, they will try to take any uneaten food (this did not really bother us). We ate lunch every day on the beach lounge chairs (Israel was a WONDERFUL server; SO helpful and polite, despite being so busy!), and enjoyed the Singapore noodles, sushi, fish/steak tacos, chicken sandwich, and appetizers (wings, shrimp cocktail, etc). Dinners were average-the Mexican theme night (next door at the Los Cabos) was nice, and dinner at Cilantro's (ordering off the menu) provided ample choices with decent food (although service was horrendously slow). Based on reading other reviews the food was as-expected and we were not displeased. The only complaint is that the desserts were not very good (almost inedible).

Pueblo Bonito Rose is in a great location on Medano Beach-we walked to the mall and marina/downtown area (~10 minutes), and felt very safe. Other reviewers have noted the beach vendors-yes, they do ask you every few minutes if you want to buy something but a simple 'no thank you' works great. These vendors are not unique to this property and are along the entire beach. If you do not want to be bothered by them stay by the pool. If you stay on the beach and don't get a cabana, the staff will gladly set up an umbrella to provide some shade.

The pool is nice and well-maintained; however, we thought it could have been a little warmer. Also, the chairs did fill up around mid-morning.

We debated quite a bit whether to rate the hotel a '4' or '5', and agreed we would give Bonito Rose a 4.5 if possible-we have no major complaints, and overall had a very enjoyable time.

We honeymooned at the Pueblo Bonito Rose for 8 nights.
There were many great points and also some not-so-great points.
I'll start with the pros:
- Bed was very a very comfy pillow top
- Room was spacious with a nice view of the beach
- On occasions we left valuables out without anything going missing - the housekeeping staff even left notes asking us to use the safe for our valuable items
- Housekeeping were very efficient and even left little jokes (like arranging my stuffed teddy riding to be the stuffed toy horse I'd won at Disneyland on our bed and making animals out of our towels).
- Pool activity staff were very friendly. It was also great to have the activities by the pool available - volleyball with a shot of tequila sunrise between sets, bingo, water aerobics, trivia etc. We even saw one of the staff members out at a club and she joined us with her friends to drink which was nice.
- All inclusive was great by the pool for drinking and eating during the day - though the waiters are allocated a section and there were a few waiters who didn't seem interested in serving their sections - on the first day we had Israel and he was great.
- Being able to head next door to use the pool or restaurant with all inclusive when Rose was too busy was great
- Bird cages with parrots and large fish pond with turtles and huge colourful fish were beautiful, there are also two resident black swans in one of the front ponds which is nice.
- Being on the only swimmable beach in Cabo was great
- Walking distance to town and clubs

We found the cons to be:
- Beds were two separate beds that they joined together, these beds crept apart leaving a gap in the middle so we couldn't really sleep together. The linen on the beds were two overlapped flat sheets and blankets which came apart easily.
- We probably would have been better off to not do the all inclusive as we didn't really drink as much as we thought and I'm a vegetarian so didn't really find much to eat at the buffets. We could have paid an extra $20USD each per night to eat at the Italian restaurant though that seems quite expensive considering we could head in to town and eat at a restaurant for much less. Tips are also not included. You would think all inclusive really would be all inclusive (not that you had to pay $5.00 delivery fee for room service and that you had to pay for mini bar items...)
- Spa prices very expensive - even the two for one deal they give away on occasion is more than you'd pay on the beach for a longer massage. We ventured down and found a nice hut on the beach next to a restaurant and got two great one hour massages for $30USD each whereas the hotel charges around $70USD.
- Could hear people walking on the hard tiled floors in the room above our room, could also loudly hear people wheeling their luggage on the hard uneven tiled floors in the corridors outside the room.

Overall we loved our stay in Cabo and will return (not 100% if we'd try another resort or return to the Rose). it was the perfect honeymoon destination with everything we were expecting quite central (water sports, party spots).

We thank our reviewer for all his good comments and observations. In Pueblo Bonito Rose we do not have rooms with king size beds, but our maids do an excellent job anchoring both beds, that become a super-king bed, we regret that our reviewer has felt uncomfortable, but that is the only alternative we have. In this case we would have suggested to call our Call Center to have taken action about it and reinforce beds.
Our All Inclusive program includes all restaurants, bars and pools and beach areas of Pueblo Bonito Rosé and Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos. In total there are 4 restaurants, a sushi area, 5 bars and in the case of being a vegetarian, our chef can prepare something special upon your request. In our Italian Specialties restaurant, Fellini's, there is a charge of $ 10 USD. per person only for the meal plan program, but for the All Inclusive guests offers a Chef's Special menu that is included. Our Spa offers a wide variety of spa treatments that fluctuates from different prices, also we have a special promotion called “Spa Journey” of $ 70 USD per day, for 3 days minimum and include 3 different treatments, which is very affordable. We appreciate our reviewer’s comments and we will continue working very hard to render an excellent service, which is our priority.

Yours cordially,
Goyita Osako, General Manager
