“Great Hotel for its location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2010

Since this hotel chain has switched from La Pinta to Desert Inn a lot of upgrades have happened. Pool is more inviting, rooms cleaner, and overall just nicer. Like most Baja hotels, beds are on the hard side but we slept great. Great staff + Great location in an amazingly quite, peaceful place.

We had a strange dichotomy of experiences at this hotel.

Dr. Jeckyl experience: First stop on way south down Baja. Nice, cool and clean hotel. Reception staff was adequate. Restaurant had patio seating with a fine waiter, Victor. The menu and food quality were very good. Room was clean and newly re-decorated. This hotel is undergoing a significant make-over and the changes are very nice. Pool was small and adequate but not nicely done.

Cons: No rooms have other than Full sized beds.

Mr Hyde experience: Stopped in again about two weeks later - should have kept driving.
Receptionist gave us a key to a room that was already occupied. We used the key and walked right in!!!! Surprise!!!!!!! What a rotten way to run a hotel. When advised of the error the receptionist was far from apologetic - just kind of shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. Next, we dressed for the pool. We declined to use it , however, as it was full of rowdys. Apparantly a soccer team of male youths was using it and were overjoyed and lustfully engaged at inappropriate horseplay. (No place for a lady)
Lastly, we went to the restaurant for dinner and were told the menu was extremely limited. Only a small portion of the menu was available to choose from. (No Mexican combination?) The resident toads were, however, nice entertainment.

Pros: The waiter for dinner and breakfast was very nice and professional.

Overview, would we stay at this hotel again? Yes. Mostly, it is really the only choice in town. Secondly, I believe the hotel management is actively engaged in making positive change.

We were traveling by car for 3 weeks in Bahia California (August 2008). We drove from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas and we stay 2 days in San Ignacio.
We stopped in 3 Desert Inn during our trip (Guerrero Negro, San Quintin and San Ignacio) and we visited the other 2 (Catavina and Loreto, but we decided don't stop there) and this is the only nice Desert inn in Bahia California!!
Desert Inn in San Ignacio is a nice place to stay. It is a nice motel style hotel. It has a pool area and a restaurant and it is a lovely stop in the oasi of San Ignacio.
Room is simple but large, clean and with air contidioned. The pool area is a relaxing place to stop after an excursion.
The restaurant is nice and the food quality is ok!!
Great experience!
Sorry if my english is not perfect!!
