“Best Day Ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

My Wife and I had our wedding breakfast and reception here last weekend and it was the perfect day. Impeccable service, beautiful rooms and exceptional food. Helen was incredible from the minute we inquired about having our wedding here last year until the minute we left, nothing was too much for her. We really felt that she cared as much as we did that everything went smoothly. On the day itself the rest of the staff were great too. There was genuinely not a thing that they could have done any better! Thanks for helping us have the most special day of our lives!

We have just this minute got home from the most wonderful weekend at The Masons Arms. We went as part of a wedding party and could not believe how brilliant the team at the Masons were in ensuring that every detail was taken care of. Shortly after we arrived, we were ushered from the bar to the wedding reception by staff with umbrellas at the ready... our tables were each served so that EVERY person was given their meal at the same time. The food was spectacular! And nothing was too much.

We stayed in the family room (num. 23) and could not have faulted it. It was clean, quiet, very spacious and super comfortable. The adjoining room with two single beds was perfect as we shared with a friend and the bathroom- huge with both a large bath and powerful shower.

I would certainly stay here again and would jump to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a special, intimate wedding venue. Thank you to everyone front of house (especially Helen) and behind the scenes- very impressive service!

Room Tip: Everyone seemed chuffed with their rooms but 23 would be perfect for those anyone with children, tee...

Just returned froma great stay at our new favourite venue. We took our dog- whose only 10 months old with trepidation. He was welcomed with open paws! Even had his own bed and food bowls in our very comfy, warm room. Staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. High quality but with a lovely informal, comfortable feel. Food was super; well cooked; local when possible; hot and plentiful. The beds are very comfortable. We were very impressed- and we aren't that easy to please. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: We had a superior cottage room in the quieter area of the hotel, a little away from the main restaur...

What a wonderful find. In the tiny hamlet of Branscombe this has it all. A traditional pub with flagstone floors, open fire and beams. Friendly and attentive staff, a real credit to the St Austell brewery that owns this pub/hotel. The basic entry rooms called the classic double we had two of and both were a good size with well equipped en-suites and big comfy beds. The food in the restaurant was up there with the best, and the free bottle of bubbly and the cake made by the chef for my wifes birthday was very much appreciated. Only a ten minute walk to the secluded and sheltered beach where we sat drinking Kir Royales our friend had supplied. Simon, the manager was extremely helpful and friendly and gave us the low down on other inns/hotels in the group worth visiting and also a discount card for them. As Arnie said, "I will be back!"

Room Tip: We had rooms over the old Inn, if you except you are going to hear noise from downstairs until the c...

We took a two night break at the Masons Arms to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The pub is in a lovely setting, and has been sympathetically modernized to retain its rural character: our room was comfortable, well-equipped - the bath, in particular, was blissfully large and relaxing - and nicely decorated with original prints; and the bar, where we ate both nights, has an open log fire and a charming, unpretentious traditional atmosphere. The food (using fresh local produce, and including a good range of daily specials) was outstandingly good, and the service really exceptional: every one of the half dozen or so people we had dealings with was friendly, helpful and welcoming. All in all, we had a wonderful couple of days. For anyone wanting a relaxing country break in a beautiful setting, I cannot recommend The Masons Arms too highly.

What a fabulous gem, set in the pretty little village of Branscome! We stayed for only 1 night at the Masons Arms but really did have a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, very attentive. The room was lovely and cosy. The food was truly excellent, so good we had all three courses at dinner, something that we never do. When we woke the next morning the sun was shining and we both felt totally relaxed, a shame we couldn't stay for an extra night but we will definitely be back for a longer stay in the very near future.

Room Tip: Would probably request a bigger room next time if staying for longer.

and once again not disappointed. Stayed in room 8 this time and with cold weather was lovely to get back to after long walk. With no mobile phone signal truly felt we were away from it all. As deep in the country you spend the evenings in the pub. Not for those who want entertainment or shops but if you truly want to getaway and enjoy walking as lots of walking routes this is the place. All 3 rooms we've stayed in were spacious, warm and with modern en suite but we did opt for the more expensive cottage rooms for 2 nights as it's special occasion. Food was excellent if perhaps not extensive menu. Staff as always friendly and helpful.
