This hotel deservedly gets a recommendation from Michelin for its food and it also has a nice setting on a quiet road overlooking the river. However, when we stayed here overnight recently, the whole experience was spoiled by the awful attitude of the staff. We asked if we could have a drink before dinner at 7.30-when some of our party went down to the restaurant slightly earlier than this, they were told that they could not be served until that time. We duly returned and asked if we could have a drink on the terrace as it was a nice evening. This request was flatly refused. We then took our places at the dining table and waited 25 minutes before being served an aperitif. The same woman who had served us so far then took our dinner orders, but was very unhelpful about explaining items on the menu and extremely abrupt.. By the end of the meal, barely 10pm it was quite obvious that the staff wanted us to finish and leave. I should add that my husband speaks fluent French so it was not a problem with translation. It also wasn't busy that evening. A great shame as we have stayed here before with no problems, but we shall not return.
