“Fun Bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

This was a fun place we totally found by accident. When in town, ask how to get here. You won't be disappointed. We had some beer, and they played 60's music, mostly the Beach Boys and we just loved our time there. We'd go there again in a heart beat.

“Greatest Little Beach Bar in Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Where the Desert meets the Sea of Cortez sits the quiet, little town of San Carlos, Mexico. It took us 6 days and 1600 miles to get here but it was well worth the trip. A very different Mexico than I was used to in Quintana Roo. ‘I know a guy’ didn’t apply for me here, so I had to take the advice of others – everyone said you have to visit the Soggy Peso. Everyone was right. A bit of a challenge to find – well past San Carlos ‘downtown’, to where the pavement ends, down the potholed road, past the horses until you reach the beach – and the Best Little Beach Bar in Town. Beautiful beach on an excellent bay with the crumbling red hills in the background – it was easy to imagine my boat on the hook just a stone’s throw out in front of the Peso. Move over Jimmy Buffet. You can tell a good establishment when you first walk in – it just has that great vibe. Friendly staff, friendlier patrons laughing and having a good time, kids running wild, antiques sitting at a bar drinking cerveza and lying to each other – ahhhh , just feels like home. Add in the good live music which ties it altogether and you have the recipe for success. Nice appies, cold, cold beer – all served quickly by very friendly staff, all at a great price. This was just a great place to start to get a feel for the Left Coast of Mexico. Everybody was right - The Soggy Peso is THE place to relax and enjoy your down time here but get there early – doors closed at 9 when I was there. It was a 5 for me, San Carlos was a bit cold when I was there, The Peso made the experience all that much warmer for me. Thanks Guys.

Of course I shot video of this sweet little beachside bar @

“The Gringo's go-to place in San Carlos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Been living in Hermosillo for about a year now, and we visit San Carlos all the time. Soggy Peso is the place everyone in Mexico recommends to go in San Carlos, and its simply cause its clean, safe, and comfortable for gringos.. The drinks are stiff, the atmosphere is laid back, and the beach is great. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because the food is kind of typical bar food, nothing special. Chips, sandwiches, quesadillas. Also, its not open very late. pretty much shuts down by 9pm.

“What holiday restaurants dream of being!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

You know that dream you have of some day retiring somewhere warm and opening up a cool joint on the beach where your staff is amazing and friendly and remember your patrons names. The drinks are cold and DELICIOUS. The food isn't complicated but fresh and local and reasonably priced. Maybe you'll even have a fantastic musician who comes in and places music a couple times a week.
And of course the view is out of a movie.
This would be that place! Keep up the great work.
