I've read every one of the 75 reviews posted to date on Trip Advisor before writing this one to make sure that I address my comments in a through and thoughtful and caring manner.....which is how Carlos and Gerardo treat their business and their customers. I remember returning to Cafe Muro after my usual two-month fall absence, having only been in the restaurant maybe twice before during the previous summer and being greeted by Gerardo saying, "Where have you been? We missed you."
This describes the atmosphere in this restaurant where everyone, new clients or regulars, are all made to feel as though the choice they made to walk through the door was the right one.
The clientele is NOT only expats (or I would avoid coming here as I avoid other places where annoying Americans and Canadians like me tend to group). Spanish is spoken by many of the diners and entire Mexican families are regular customers. Being a regular customer myself I have been able to observe the restaurant over time and it remains consistent in its service, hospitality, cleanliness and presentation of interesting, healthy and tasty food at extremely reasonable prices.
The owners, Carlos and Gerardo, are generous with their food, drinks and themselves. I am welcomed to have my weekly private Spanish tutoring linger over breakfast on a busy Sunday morning as long as I and my teacher wish. Being a frequent client, I am offered options to what is on the menu if I feel like something a little different and I know this would be available to any guest with special needs or requests. I have experienced many of the soups prepared fresh daily and they rank amongst the best served anywhere, worthy of being on the menu of any fine restaurant. Whether all dishes please all clients......what restaurant does? Service by Paolo, Gerardo and Carlos is completely attentive and caring. Much laughter comes from the kitchen so you know the food is made with love and a happy spirit. Running a successful restaurant is an extremely difficult job. Whatever Carlos and Gerardo and their team of workers are doing is the right thing, They deserve every positive comment they have received....and those who chose to complain about an isolated incident need to bring more balance to their lives and eat at Cafe Muro more frequently. This food and atmosphere is definitely good for the soul.
