“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

Very nice hotel, loved the decoration on my room, comfortable, staff goes the extra mile, quiet, walking distance from the main plaza, stores and restaurants. Definitely would like to go back, great place to relax.

Room Tip: Seems to me that all rooms are pretty much the same, nice and comfy

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

I stayed at Ana Catalina for two nights in February, 2013. My room was large, clean and perfectly located for sightseeing in the historic center of San Miguel. It was just a little over a block away from the Art Institute and about 3 blocks from the main plaza and Cathedral. There were plenty of local restaurants, and cantinas nearby. My room had a small balcony and I was seranaded one afternoon by a saxophone player on the street below.

My room was on the second floor and no elevators. But it had an outdoor inner courtyard balcony with tables and chairs if you wanted to have a snack near your room. But the room also had a small table and chairs and even a small couch and coffee table. I know one review said there was no hot water. I did have to let the water run for a full minute, but then there was plenty of hot water. In Mexico you must learn to slow down, don't be in such a hurry.

The price was excellent, about $40 US a night, I booked it on Expedia and was warned to be prepared to pay cash, or Pesos. One night I took a taxi to a restaurant (El Tomato for excellent steak) on the other side of the Plaza and it cost me about $5 US. Taxis are everywhere and easy to flag down. There is a small bar at the entrance to the hotel, never many people there, but looked nice. They don't speak much English.

I am a single, solo, female traveler and felt safe and comfortable here.

Room Tip: Better to have the second instead of third floor as there is no elevator.

Terrible hospitality. The parking is very far away and they do not even explain how it works. They wanted to charge us more. The rooms are very ugly and the bed and pillows are very uncomfortable. The tv is the size of a notebook.
Definitely not what we expected or saw from the pictures

We love this hotel. Centrally located in the center of the old town. Large spacious rooms, very nice help and a steal of a deal in terms of price. We took the room w/o food and I think we are paying $71/per night including all tax. The only issue would be if you are sensitive to traffic noise.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are the same. Perhaps those on the top floor don't have windows onto the s...
