“Enjoyed our stay... good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

Based on reviews we booked two nights at the hotel.. The location is very close to the Church and the jardin.. Our Jr Suite room was large wit ha very interesting dome shaped ceiling.. Breakfast was sufficient, included Juice Coffee Eggs fruit..
Gerardo was very helpful calling the Airline trying to locate our left article on the plane..
The Hotel consists of different sized rooms all leading to a courtyard..

The not so: in the evening we asked if we can have two bananas?. The lobby manager gave me two bananas and two glasses of orange juice. At check out we were presented with a bill for 50Mexican dollars. Silly amount $4.00US
WiFi - the WI fi in the room was intermittent. It was strong in the Study..
Overall we were very happy with our stay at the Hotel Mirasol.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing Pica Selah street Street

If your idea of traveling includes a break during the day, then Villa Mirasol is a great choice because of its multiple spaces to have a snack, or to read. At $95 USD a night, we were not sure what to expect, but in fact, the hotel went beyond our expectations. The hotel has two areas for sitting outside with two tables each, or if you choose to sit out during the day, you'll probably have the space to yourself. They also have an indoor space with sofas, a t.v., a small table for guests to utilize. Then they open up the breakfast room with their multiple tables. This room has a high roof so it feels open, fresh, and has a lot of natural light.

San Miguel de Allende is pretty. Pretty full of traffic too. We found that enjoyed heading back to our room for a rest, a brief rinse, a chance to read up on local sites while snacking, or simply to read and write, then head out back to the Jardin and other tourist attractions. SMA has hills much like Carmel, CA, so we were always ready to stretch out and take a few in a quiet space before marching off to investigate a new place.

The staff is helpful and friendly. We arrived requiring our clothes to be washed. They had our laundry dried and folded and on our bed within a few hours. The breakfast was "Americano" or eggs any style, fruit, or pancakes, and coffee and tea. And bolillos of course (the small pan Francesa).

And probably an important point is that the shower was super hot. The room was actually large. Free Wifi. Todo estaba muy bien.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 1st floor, Orchard. It was nice to hear the morning staff in the kitchen... it was...

More than Mexico City where we spent one week, we enjoyed our five day stay in San Miguel, one of the several small quaint towns that appear frozen in time in Mexico. We stayed at Villa Mirasol, a small hotel with less than a dozen rooms. The service was good, the rooms clean, and the staff was courteous, it helped a lot that at least two of the front desk people spoke English. The hotel served only breakfast but with every third building in the town housing a restaurant, eating was not a problem. From San Miguel we were able to make day trips to fascinating places like Guanajuarto and Dolores Hidalgo, the former famous for its tunnels forming intricate motorway underground and the latter for its historical landmarks and stunning pottery. At the end of 12 days in the country I would say - must visit Mexico City, but make sure you factor in several small towns - for that s what makes Mexico so unique.

Room Tip: Villa Mirasol is a boutique hotel, no two rooms are alike, try to get a room that has a window and a...

We booked this well in advance and were quite happy with our choice. Our room faced the interior courtyard so there was no noise from the street. The bed was king size and a bit firm but not nearly as hard as many in Mexico or Europe. The room was spacious but not huge with lots of window light. The windows in the room we had opened and all had screens but didn't allow for a lot of air circulation. There was a ceiling fan plus a spare fan kept in the closet but no air conditioning. I'm not sure how hot this room might get in the heat of summer.

Wonderful, spacious shower and lots of closet room but no room safe. We used the safe in the office for extra money, passports, etc., which was free. Breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, fruit plate and a choice of eggs or hotcakes (pancakes). We tried both and settled on the hotcakes for the remaining 3 breakfasts. We also had one lunch and it was good.

Good location within a 5 min walk to the cathedral and square or 5 min to the Rosewood or the park in the other direction. Plenty of wonderful restaurants within minutes. There should be no need to take a cab once you arrive. It was 50 pesos cab ride to or from the bus terminal. Much too far to walk IMHO, especially considering the low cab prices.

All the staff we met spoke enough English to manage and they helped us locate places of interest and restaurants. Every meal we had in San Miguel was from good to excellent.

Most, if not all of the rooms, are up a narrow set of stairs so this place is not suited if you have mobility issues. The only downside was a note on the wall by the toilet (also in the info brochure) that used toilet paper cannot be flushed and should be put in the waste basket. Are you kidding? We flushed anyway. I can understand tissues and all sorts of other things people seem to flush but they should use biodegradable toilet paper and make the sign more acceptable.

The Mirasol was very nice. This was our first visit to San Miguel and location was very important to us. This hotel is centrally located. You are able to walk to shops and restaurants and town square. The hotel was clean and the staff was wonderful. The breakfast was very good and recommendations for lunch and dinner were exactly what we needed. The bed was my only personal concern. It was very firm and I needed softer. I consider that my problem, not theirs. I would recommend this hotel.

After much research, I and my 3 lady friends elected to stay our 5 nights in San Miguel at this hotel. We could not have made a better choice. I read many reviews of this hotel and I cannot add to them about the location to the town center, the bright and clean room conditions, the full breakfast service and the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff specifically Ms. Vega. The ambiance of the place cannot be overlooked with it collection of varied art paintings and assortment of potted plants and flowers. For the price ( a little over $120.00 per night) I think you get one of the finest accommodations in San Miguel. There are a number of fine restaurants within walking distance or a short cab ride with a fare of 50 pesos. If we have a chance, I am 85, we will be back We all highly recommend this fine establishment.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor is a hard climb. There is no lift. However the lower rooms are subject to the street n...
