Chamonix, Sollano 17. This is one of my favorite spots in San Miguel. There is a quaint shop in front specializing in all things french. There are 2 dining areas, one inside, one outside patio. There is no view from the dinging areas, but that's made up for by the charm of the decor. The outside patio is enclosed with a very old stone wall and trees. If it's chilly they'll bring you a heater. The inside dining room is small but cozy, like being in someone's house, complete with fireplace.
The food - fantastic huge artichoke appetizer stuffed with olive tapenade (sp) and Parmesan cheese. My favorite dinner there is their filet mignon, (I think the best in the town), which comes with 2 goat cheese or Portobello raviolis and a Parmesan crisp on top. Many good pastas, one being their shrimp over linguine in a lemon sauce.
It's not terribly expensive unless you drink a lot of wine. Not cheap either but good value for the quality of the food, and the service is good. BYOB not allowed as far as I know. Chamonix is just across the street from another favorite, "The Restaurant".
Chef Ana Lilia Galindo Chávez is world class and a really nice person.
