Individual Tukuls that are nicely furnished with a seating area. Comfortable. Super flower filled mountain setting. Management, however, was very slow in dealing with requests for towels and toilet paper. Initially assigned to a Tukul next to a dung pile ... we had to push the manager to get our Tukul changed. Mediocre food. Nice outdoor terrace for dinning if you arrive early and it is not raining .... otherwise restaurant is dark. Generator power only at certain times. This lodge is owned by a German tour company.

Room Tip: Best rooms are in the front row near the terrace.

The design of the rooms is a highlight. They are round and generous size with lots of space for bed, table and couch. The central pole is a tree trunk with big branches supporting the thatched roof. The bathroom is a separate thatched roof within the room - very classy and modern. Excellent restaurant serving a traditional moringa dish. Wonderful views from the terrace with l0ts of birds.

Quite a modern lodge with ample rooms in tukul style fully equipped, despite the typical african touch, such as the non-closing door of the bathroom. Very good also the restaurant, menu at lunch and buffet at dinner, and very cold beers, by the way the cheapest ones in our trip at only 18 birr (0,83€).

So, I would have loved to have given Kanta a full 5-star review. The views of the Konso-area mountain villages are just awesome. The lodge's tukul-style rooms are really beautiful with finishes that we hadn't seen anywhere else in Ethiopia outside of Addis's finest hotels. The bathrooms especially were impressive with tile that matched, with modern shower heads and excellent toilets. The rooms had very decent twin beds (other rooms may feature other sizes). Rooms feature mosquito netting often over only one bed. We asked about this and were told that they were only for show as the tukuls are "bug-sealed." This is true. These rooms have glass and wood doors with a good seal and screens that are completely intact. The set up was all very impressive.

Power is provided provided by generator - not city power - and is only available from about 6:30pm to about 10:30pm and then from 6:30am to about 8:00am. That's fairly common for the region and shouldn't be considered a negative.

The restaurant was very good though the prices were slightly higher than average and portions slightly smaller. Still, it was very nice to eat dinner and breakfast with amazing views.

So, why no 5-stars?? Well, while others seem to have had a different experience, we had no hot water during our stay, neither at night nor in the morning. Solar hot water can be tricky and while we followed the instructions given, we never had success. Also, there was quite a lot of noise as guests and staff started moving about before 6am. This was unfortunate but not the worst thing in the world.

Room Tip: I'm not certain that any of the rooms have great views but the ambiance is very pleasant. I'...

We spent a night at the Kanta lodge. Our Tukul room was very comfortable. Unfortunately there are no views from the rooms. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Unfortunately, it seemed like the room was never finished. There is no door between the bathroom and the bedroom.

The restaurant has wonderful views if you sit out on the patio.the food is mediocre like most Ethiopian restaurants but the staff is very helpful.

Our second time in the OMO valley and the second time in Kanta lodge. It was a pleasure to come back to especially for the hot shower with good water pressure. The best bathroom tiling for that part of Ethiopia. The room clean, comfortable and quiet. it did lack coat hangers, little balconies lovely to sit on.
Food very good at lunch and dinner but limited for breakfast. For the coffee drinkers who like milk with theirs this was a little hard to come by.
The views from the restaurant area are quite spectacular.
This lodge was very convenient for visiting the Konso tribe.

Room Tip: Our room was closes to the restaurant and easy to get to in the evenings. We were in room number 2.
